I have gone back and forth between a few options of careers that I would like to do when

I grow up. The first option I have thought of is an engineer. I have always like messing around
with broken things and building and I think it would be a fun job. Depending on the type of
engineer, the work space can range from a work office to field work. Typical salaries can range
anywhere where from $50,000 all the way up to$180,000. The second option that I have been
considering is physical therapy or sports medicine. I have always been intrigued by sports related
careers and due to the amount of injuries I have had in the past year or two I have spent a lot of
time around physical therapists. The typical work space is a room with lots of stretching tables
and workout equipment as well as the occasional office work for patient’s paper work. Typical
salaries range from $54,000 to $85,000. I have attended all of the activity period speakers, but
unfortunately have not been able to attend any of the field trips.
Since the last year, I have thought about my career interests and am still a little interested
in my past interests, but have lost a little interest have also added some sort of ecology or a
fisheries biologist to my interest list. I have not determined what I would like to do in ecology,
but on average a wildlife ecologist makes $75,000 to $100,000, and a fisheries biologist makes
around $50,000 to $100,000 per year. For both, you need a minimum of a bachelor’s degree to
get a job in those career fields. For these fields, you could find work at the PPG Zoo and
Aquarium, the San Diego Zoo, and the Bronx Zoo. For my interview, I watched a video from
Travis Tuten who worked for FWC Fish and Wildlife Research Institute. From this video I
learned that fisheries biologists rely on fishermen to do some of their job and it is important to
have a basic understanding of how a fish behaves in the wild before you try to get into this
career. So far, this year I have not attended any field trips, but have listened to all of the speaker
presentations.
