Dear ,

As a highly motivated and dedicated student with strong communication and interpersonal skills,
I would like to apply for the position of working Children’s Hospital.

As a student I have been extensively involved in multiple clubs, volleyball team/club, and many
community service opportunities, which has allowed me to develop strong hard-working, detail
oriented, and compassionate skills. I see this as being very important when seeking to work in
the medical field.

Personal attributes that I believe make me suitable for this position include: Extremely hard-
working, outgoing, optimistic, very energetic, motivated, and committed. I have also done and
keep planning on doing many service projects like Thanksgiving Meals, bingo nights, youth
camps, fish fry’s, harvest home dinner, March for Life, and open houses for schools.

I would very much appreciate the opportunity to demonstrate my capabilities to you in person. I
believe I have a lot to offer your organization and have enclosed a copy of my resume for your
review and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your time,

Olivia Kaminski

In three years Olivia will be attending college and for her career action plan she will be
talking about what careers she is interested in and where she would like to work. Some things
Olivia is interested in when choosing a job are a Cardiac Sonography, Engineer, and
International Business. Her first choice is to become a Cardiac Sonography this would involve
taking imagines of the heart, this would assist doctors to help them diagnose heart and peripheral
vascular (blood vessel) problems in many patients. The starting salary that Olivia would prefer
would be $60,000 and her goal salary would be $106,000. The environment Olivia would like to
be in is Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. Olivia wants to become a Cardiac Sonographer
because a few years ago she was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, this is a
condition where the heart muscles become abnormally thick, which makes the heart work a lot
harder than it should. When Olivia would go to her appointments she would always be getting
tests done. She saw what a cardiac sonographer did to her and thought it would be a very
interesting field to do. Olivia has planned in her future years in high school to take medical
classes to become more familiar with the field she wants to do. Olivia is currently taking Latin as
her language which will help in knowing multiple terms in the medical field. She has attended
every speaking panel at our school except for one due to a club meeting.
Some possible majors are a Cardiac Sonographer, and International Business. Right now,
Olivia has researched that George Washington University offers these degrees, Olivia would like
to explore more out of state schools. One of the certifications she can earn to become a Cardiac
Sonographer is a 1-year certificate or diploma, 2-year associate’s degree, and a 4-year bachelor’s
degree.
My School list includes:
 University of Pittsburgh, COA-$33,000, My estimated cost is around $30,000
 Duquesne University, COA- $50,000, My estimated cost is around $25,000
 Notre Dame College, COA-$42,000, My estimated cost is around $20,000
 Edinboro University, COA-$25,000, My estimated cost is around $14,000
 Mercyhurst College, COA-$54,000, My estimated cost is around $21,000
Olivia would like to possibly interview or job shadow someone at Children's Hospital in
Pittsburgh, UPMC Passavant, and Wexford Health + Wellness Pavilion.
The interview Olivia conducted was with David, he is a Cardiac Sonographer at Children's
Hospital in Pittsburgh. Olivia has been researching over time to find more out about the career
she wants to pursue. She has found out that many people are interested in the function of the
heart, she has also learned that this career deals with assessing diagnostic images of a extremely
important organ. She has read articles and has also found out that she will study and test the
heart's capabilities, such as blood flow, chamber size, muscle function, and the valve reasons.
Oliva is still highly interested in this career because she wants to help people and she also finds
the heart very fascinating to learn about.
