Overall it was quite relaxed. If you are prepared for some of those questions, you should be fine.
1. Why MBA
2. Why Indiana
3. What would your teammates learn from you.
4. What would you learn from them.
5. Differences between startup and corporate culture (I transitioned from corporate to start-up).
6. Anything else you want to tell me, which you think I should know (bring out the best thing which you
don't have on your resume).
7. Any questions.
Really got a feel of a conversational interview; discussed something or the other in almost every question.
Got an interview with Paul Carlson today. It was a nice and very friendly talk. Paul was very funny and open.
It took about 30 mins.
7. Challenge my education and my work experience whether they were related to data analytics (as I'm
focusing on Marketing Analytics)
Interviewed Face to face by Scott Smart, full-time chair of Kelley MBA program, in Bangalore India
at TAJ hotel’s lobby. He was a very friendly guy.
The interview started with basic question – explain your work at PwC (Not Tell me about yourself).
Then he asked Why MBA? Why Kelley? What are my plans on working in the United States?
From there he moved to situational questions. I had mentioned in previous answer while explaining
my work experience that I lead a team and I work in multicultural teams, so he asked what challenges
I have faced while leading a team? I explained with examples. He also asked – How is working in
multi-cultural teams is different? What different I do in such situations.
Then he asked- What is my leadership style? What I do if someone in my team does not pull its own
weight? What is an ideal work environment according to me?
After that, he asked to explain my most significant life experience. I mentioned two instances- one
about my social experience and startup experience. He then asked what did I learn while working in a
startup, explain two major learnings ( I had written about my startup in one of the essays as well so I
answered around the same points). We spoke about importance of cultural fit. He talked about his
experience.
At last, he asked, what will I do to gel in Kelley classroom. I explained my experience of working in
global teams and how will I utilize those experiences in creating a collaborative and inclusive
environment.
I asked him two questions- one around Consulting and Entrepreneurial Academy, and other around
community work and social projects at Kelley.
My interview lasted for around 20 mins and it was mostly conversational. His questions were based on
my answers. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and I am eagerly waiting for the result
My two cents for those who are yet to appear for interview
1. List down your 3-4 selling points and make sure that you come across those points while answering
the questions.
2. Be proactive and give information to interviewer instead of being reactive and waiting for the
interviewer to ask question and pull out the information about you
