computer knowledge and utilization in the Tech4ED LGU Pigcawayan, North Cotabato.

TECH4ED TRANSFORMS PEOPLE WITH ICT-SKILLS FOR EMPLOYMENT


Digital literacy and skills training courses offered in the Tech4ED centers
aim to equip the people with knowledge on Information Technology,
and to enhance their skills and competency needed for employment.
This initiative intends to open job opportunities, especially to the under-
privileged communities to help them improve their standards of living.
M’lang Tech4ED Center in North Cotabato also conducts intensive digital
literacy trainings to TESDA Skills Training Program beneficiaries, to en-
rich their knowledge and skills in information technology.

The Department of Information and Communications Technol-


ogy (DICT) - Mindanao Cluster 2, in partnership with the De-
partment of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Region X
conducted free training on Online Digital Literacy and Culture
and Communications to the Out of School Youth (High School
Graduates), as well as children of the members of the Pantawid
Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). With the use of the Learning
English Application for Pinoys (LEAP) which enhances English
communication skills, trainees were able review and relearn the
English Language to aid them in their job application in Busi-
ness Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies. Some of the train-
ees have successfully landed jobs on BPO companies.

Upi Tech4ED Center in Maguindanao has enabled Teresa Marie


Limocon to be employed in a BPO company. Teresa, a daughter
of a farmer, earned her degree in Elementary Education at Upi
Agricultural School. She took a four-week training to enhance
her grammar and communication skills using the Tech4ED’s
LEAP at the Upi Tech4ED Center. She is now earning a decent
salary as an Online English Teacher from 51talk Company.
