An Introduction to Zen

A Daylong Retreat with Soto Zen Priest Jiryu Rutschman-Byler


Saturday, February 24, 9 am - 4 pm

This daylong retreat, led by visiting Soto Zen Priest Jiryu Rutschman-Byler, will
include traditional elements of Zen retreats, including Zen-style sitting meditation and
walking meditation. There will also be a dharma talk and opportunity for

A Taste of Zen
An Evening with Jiryu
Friday, February 23, 6:00 - 7:30 pm

Join us for an opportunity to learn about Zen practice with visiting Soto Zen Priest Jiryu
Rutschman-Byler. This evening will include teachings by Jiryu and some short
meditations. This program is open to the public with no registration required and is
offered on the basis of dana or mutual generosity. For more information about the

Beginning Insight Meditation Class


with Erin Treat
Five Tuesdays starting February 27, 6:00 - 7:30 pm

During this five-class series, Resident Dharma Teacher Erin Treat will offer
instructions suitable for those who have never tried meditation before as well as

A Midwinter Dharma Potluck

Quieting the Mind, Freeing the Heart

engage in Buddhist practices of lovingkindness, mindfulness and insight meditation,

Mindfulness-Based 12 Step Group

ADDITIONAL NEW MEETING TIME!


Wednesdays, 12-1, and now Sundays, 4:30-5:30

The Mindfulness-Based 12 Step Group has added an additional meeting time: Sundays
from 4:30-5:30. The group is an open gathering blending mindfulness and the 12 Steps
as resource tools for developing healthy relationships with ourselves and all other
people, places and things.

In January, the Durango Dharma Center reached our goal of at least 108 members in
our Sustaining Sangha monthly direct-deposit program. In fact we have 110! This
program is key to sustaining the teachings of the dharma in Durango. We are so grateful
