February 17-18
From the Minister

Happy New Year!

Yep. It’s 2018 already. And I’ve already made the mistake of looking for a document on my computer
but couldn’t find it because I wasn’t looking in the 2018 folder. 2018! Wow! This year went by too
fast. But we did call it. We said back in October, don’t blink or it will be the new year before you know
it. Well, whether we like it or not, time moves forward.
In Philippians 3:13 Paul encourages us to “forget what is behind and strain toward what is ahead.“
That is really good advice as we go into a new year, however we need to realize that Paul was talking
about anything that would distract us from pressing on to win the prize for which God has called us
heavenward in Christ Jesus. In other words, don’t let anything keep you from your walk in Christ. I
heard a well known pastor from California on the news quote from his book, “don’t let your history dic-
tate your destiny.” It sounds catchy. It sounds like what Paul said in Philippians. I’m even pretty sure
that’s what this pastor/author meant. But I can think of a lot of things from our past that our HEALTHY
that SHOULD mold our future, our walk with Christ, and ultimately our destiny (our eternal home of
heaven.)
Well, that should give me enough justification to look back on December and say “WOW!” and
“THANK YOU!”
We had a great Christmas season here at CCCC. Mike and the choir did a fabulous job with our
Christmas musical. The Christmas Tree Park (I know is a TON of work) but it looked GREAT! I am so
thrilled that so many new families stepped up to adopt a tree this year. Not only did we have more
families from our church family take on trees, but some of the organizations that we partner with deco-
rated a tree as well. The Girl Scouts that meet here at our church decorated a tree. We have a new
home school co-op called Classical Conversations (they meet once a week on Mondays in our build-
ing) - they decorated a tree, as well as one of the families from their group. Becky Carter decorated a
tree on behalf of Fire House Subs. Also, if you haven’t noticed, we have new neighbors across the
street. Clarity Pointe, a nursing care facility that provides a residence for memory loss patients also
decorated a tree this year. We really are looking forward to the volunteer and service opportunities
that will be available to us with this new partnership. Anyway, LOTS of trees got decorated. And
there were some of you that still went above and beyond decorating more than one tree. Some of you
were even decorating trees of others who were sick and/or in the hospital. What an act of kindness.
It’s what church families do, right?
And then there was Christmas Eve. As many of you know, we postponed decorating the tree park
because we wanted it to look its best on Christmas Eve. The Candlelight Christmas Eve service is not
new around here, but having it outside in the Tree Park with a live nativity was a first for us. It was
awesome! I heard some say it was the BEST Christmas Eve service ever at CCCC. I have to say
thank you to Lea Reeves for coordinating the costumes for our live nativity. She’s a pro! And I also
want to thank those who helped with the live nativity and the music. Mike and the choir—you guys are
just awesome. Thanks to Mike and Lea Ledman—you guys have been such a great help and encour-
agement to our church family. Andrea, Josh, Jeanne, Charles, Joe, Jordan, John, Stephen, Dave,
and Randy—Thank you guys for stepping in and providing our live nativity. And thanks to Steve and
Santa Claus for making our night even more special.
But let me close with this. THANK YOU JESUS! If you had not come into this world from the rich-
es of Heaven, born as a baby, and suffered and died as a man, there would be no sacrifice for man-
kind’s sin. We would all be lost without Jesus. Thank You. May 2018 be just as special as 2017.
In His Service,
Allen

Communication From the Leadership
Good Godly Words
*What Do You Really, Really, Really, Want This Year?
Perhaps the most important life-questions we ever personally answer, are the ones we ask our-
selves privately within, and privately answer. Those private answers, if revealed, would tell others a lot
about who we are and what we seek. If we consider ourselves truthfully, we must accept that part of our
heart is hidden from everyone except God. In the journey through life what is your heart really longing
for? Don’t answer this question with the answer you think sounds good, but dare to answer based on
what you deeply want. Do you find a measure of joy and peace within yourself? Dare to look deep, what
do you feel good about, and bad about? Do fresh waters of love and hope heal your heart and mind?
Perhaps you ask, “What is it which holds me back, and keeps me from moving forward?” For many this
is a weary recurring question that aches for a right answer. There is a wonderful force which goes to
work when we really accept and value Jesus. Jesus not only seeks to save us, but also to change our
lives. When the “Light of the World” starts to shine in one’s personal darkness, He begins to warm that
which has become cold, and enlighten exactly where it is needed. The greatest gain and good that will
ever come to us is God and His gifts! Ask yourself, “Is it health food I need, or Holy food?” “More money,
or more of the Almighty?”
Our mighty Lord breaks chains and fixes hearts! Piece by piece, He sets us free! “Seek ye first
the Kingdom of God,” and you’ll get stuff truly worth having. Jesus loves you and desires for you to have
a fuller life. Jesus desires for your spiritual birth to bring you joy. When He finished the work of salvation,
He opened a door, and wide did He open it, removing the wall between you and God. As Paul said in
Acts 17:27, “God is not far from us.” What do you really, really, really, want? Draw near Him and be for-
ever blessed!
*10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause
great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to
you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. Lk. 2:10 &11

*28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” 29 Jesus
answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one He has sent.” Jn. 6:28 & 29

*10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have
life, and have it to the full. 11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down
his life for the sheep. Jn. 10:10 &11

*29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a
stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink,
Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Jn. 19:29 & 30

May God bless you deep within!
