III. Learning Strategies
A. Introduction

1. Warm-Up

Reduce fractions into lowest term.

8 6 20 7 27 5 9 3
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.
12 24 80 28 36 35 81 120
1. Review
Last time, you learned about division of fractions right? So, how to divide
fractions? Is there a rule that needs to follow?
I have here flashcards on the division of fractions, what you are going to
do is to answer it orally.

12 4 5 4 15 2 2 2
÷ ÷ ÷
24
÷
14
6 8 3 6 12 5

4 5 9 7 20 3 8 4
÷ ÷ ÷ ÷
7 3 2 12 11 10 13 8

2. Motivation
Before we start to our new lesson, we will have first a game. I will divide
the class into four groups. Find out at least seven things that every single
group member has in common with the other members. The winner of this
game is the teams that most quickly identify seven similarities.
How did you form the similarities?

B. Development of the Lesson

1. Presentation
Our lesson for today is about Ratio and Proportion.

How many girls are there?

How many boys are there?
How do you relate the number of boys to the number of girls?
What is ratio?
How do you write ratio?
2. Discussion
a. Prior Learning
How do you compare two ratios?
How can you say that one ratio is greater, less than or equal to the
other?
What do you know about proportion?
How to determine if two ratios form a proportion?
How to solve a proportion that contains a variable?
How to solve problems using proportion?
Why do need to study ratio and proportion?
b. Cooperative Learning
I will divide the class into four groups; each group will pick the questions
to answer. After you have finished your work choose one representative
to explain what you have done.
What have you observed based on your activity?
c. Reflective Learning
In what situation in life we can apply ratio and proportion?
What value can you get from it?

C. Post Activities
1. Generalization

How can you say that two ratios are proportion?

How to solve problems using proportion?

2. Application
Determine whether each pair of ratios forms a proportion.

1. 1⁄2 and 2⁄4 4. 3⁄5 and 6⁄10

2. 7⁄5 and 9⁄3 5. 4⁄3 and 8⁄6

3. 4⁄5 and 8⁄10 6. 9⁄10 and 2⁄5

IV. Evaluation
I. Solve for the missing term in each proportion.
1. 3⁄4 = 𝑛⁄20 4. 4⁄𝑛 = 12⁄15

2. 2⁄3 = 6⁄𝑛 5. 𝑛⁄8 = 3⁄4

3. 𝑛⁄5 = 10⁄25 6. 16⁄20 = 4⁄5

II. Answer the following problems:
1. A car moving at a constant speed travels 180 km in 3hours. How long will
it travel in 8 hours?
2. Notebooks are priced at 3 for ₽42. Find the cost of 12 notebooks.
3. Tina and Raphael are planning to spend their summer vacation in
Boracay. If a round trip ticket from Manila to Boracay costs ₽4800.00 each,
how much will they spend for their airline ticket?
V. Assignment
Solve each problem using ratio and proportion.
1. In high school local election, Hannah received 6 out 10 votes cast. How
many votes did he get if 1500 students voted?
2. The ratio of teacher adviser to students in a club is 1 to 15. How many
students are there if there are 5 teachers?
3. The food in a freezer can feed 100 boys in 60 days. Suppose 50 boys
joined the group, how many days will take them to consume the food in
the freezer?
