1.(a) Consider a continuous time signal x(t)

X(t)= t+1 -1 ≤ t ≤ 0
1 0≤ t ≤ 2
-t+3 2 ≤ t ≤ 3
0 elsewhere
Sketch the input and find output Y1(t) and Y2(t)
(i) Y1(t)=x(4t+3)
(ii) Y2(t)=x( (-t/3)-2) (5)
(b) Check whether the following signal is energy or power and also determine the value of power and
energy .
(i) X[n]=ej(πn/3 +π/7)
(ii) X(t)=e-3t u(t) (5)

2.(a) Determine whether the following system is memory, causal, time invariant, linear and stable.
Y[n]=x[n]+n x[n+1] (7)
(b) Express the given signal sequence as a time shifted impulse signal. (3)
X[n]=(4,-5,-6,7,5,7,8) (Bold index signifies n=0).

3.(a) Perform the convolution of the two sequences using graphical method.
X[n]=(1,2,3,4) and h(n)=(2,-4,6,-8) (Bold index signifies n=0). (7)
(b) Test whether the discrete time system is stable or not.
h(n)=e-|n| (3)

4.(a) A linear time invariant discrete time system has the following impulse response
h(n)=(1/2)n u[n] .The system is excited by the signal x[n]=u[n] determine the output of the system
n=6 and n=12. (5)
(b) Two discrete time systems with impulse responses h1(n) and h2(n) connected in cascade .
