topic vocabulary,

For questions 25-34 read the text. Use the word given in capitals at the end of some of the lines to
form a word that fits the gap in the same line. There is an example at the beginning (0).

· Read the text for general understanding.
25 MOUNTAIN -> · Decide which type of word is needed for each gap (noun,
adjective, etc).
26 POLLUTE -> · Look at the whole sentence, not just the line including
the gap.

· Look at the word in capitals to the right of the gap. You
may need to add a prefix or a suffix or make other changes

29 HIGH -> · Check the meaning of the text to see if the word is
singular or plural.
30 INTERRUPT -> · The word you choose must make sense in the context of
the text as a whole. So when you've finished the task, read

suffix, to make this a negative adjective.

For questions 35-42, complete the second sentence so that it has a similar meaning to the first sentence,
using the word given. Do not change the word given. You must use between two and five words, including the
word given. There is an example (0).
· Look at the key word. What type of word is it? What usually follows it,
(0) IS YOUR FAVOURITE e.g. an infinitive, a gerund, a pronoun, a preposition, another verb, or is it
part of a set phrase or phrasal verb?
(35) · Think about other words that need to change in the new word order,
e.g. an adjective may become a noun, or vice versa.
(36) · Write your answer on the question paper and read both sentences again.
Question 35: Which verb comes here? Remember to keep the tense the
