II. BACKGROUND OF THE ORGANISATION
Organization’s activities
It is our country privilege and pride for having a non profit organization of this kind and
we are happy to be a party to it. We would like to summaries and elaborate the kind of
service that developmental association for integrated service (ASHOKA NGO
CONSULTANCY) is performing and this is for your kind reference. For the past 2 years
our organization has committed itself in doing services to mankind towards its up
gradation. Indian society consists of upper class, middle class, & lower class on the basis
of their financial status. The first group i.e. upper class is having good food, cloth &
shelter in excess. The second group middle class are having just food, cloth and shelter
for survival and the third group which falls into the group of disabled and downtrodden
and our (ASHOKA NGO CONSULTANCY) priority starts from here. We would like to
help all the twenty eight percent of the population (BPL) group but our limited resources
do place reservations and restriction. If any organization joins hand, it will be full-fledged
services to the deserving mankind

provisional results of the Census of India 2001. In terms of population it holds the sixth
position among the States and Union territories in the country. As against all India
decadal growth rate of population 22.57%during 1991-2001, The sex ratio (i.e., the
number of females per thousand males) of population in the State has improved to 922 in
the present census. The literacy rate in the State has shown remarkable improvement.

Adult Education Project
This has increased to 77.27% as compared to ten years back during 1991
census.
The target area is one of the backward districts of Maharashtra where the basic
educational condition of SCs, STs and BCs, children, youth and women are deprived.
Youth form 30% of the targeted villages who are in need of some basic skill to become
productive and creative.
Chandrapur district has only 77.61 of literacy rate among them men are higher in ratio,
84.82 and women are lesser than men, 70.21. Illiteracy rate is 22.29.
Plight of Women: Because of different factors like the lack of education, ignorance or a
"Defective Value System" the existing poverty status in the target areas is possible.
Discrimination, violence against girls and women are the worst forms of violence.
Women's and girl's situation is hardly understandable for outsiders. But to be born as a
daughter a women has restrained from education, socialization and participation in the
decision making process. As a wife, a woman has to procreate children for the husband
and rear them. She has the obligation to procreate a baby child; failure would result in
deprivation of conjugal life with the husband. Still there are many other forms of mental
violence against women. Moreover, beatings and other forms of physical violence are
considered as normal practices in the hill-villages.
When girls or young women get married, also they are not supposed to stay with their
birth family. They are considered to live with the husband's family. This leads to the
opinion, that investment on girl's education is useless because it does not give any return
to the parents. Hence, often the boy child alone enjoys the investment on education and
development. This discrimination leads the girl to grow as illiterate, ignorant and inferior
persons, which turn out in poverty and a submissive status.
Educational Condition
ASHOKA NGO CONSULTANCY has surveyed in 35 villages in Jiwati taluk and the
community baseline survey results reveal that an estimate of 700 illiterate adults is living
in the target areas
ASHOKA NGO CONSULTANCY Trust has devised the below given operational
