Analysis of Advertisement

The product advertisement is any methods of communication for promoting and marketing

product aiming to induce potential clients to buy the product. The channel/vehicle of

communication in any advertisement is paid. The channels of advertisement include: social

media, television, bill boards, radio stations, magazines and newspaper. The promotional

messages or the communication message is done through song, speech, words, videos and

pictures.

The products advertisement timeline and time space used is difficult to measure. This is

because the products are frequently advertised from time to time. For instance, the advert may be

aired for one minute in television, but the advert is repeated more than ten times per day. In the

billboards advert, the advert takes several months. In social media advertising, the advert is

always all day. When the advert channel is newspaper the product advertisement time, and space

duration follows the contract formulated for the products.

Sociological analysis of the Advertising

The sociological analysis of the advertising offers and explains different approaches to

analyzing television adverts, social media, and online adverts, sponsoring as an adverting

channel, and newspaper or print advertisement. Also, to understand the importance of these

different form of advertisement and how the generate attention to the society. The sociological

analysis explores how these channels of advertisement relate to social concerns and the issue

they wish to address.

The newspaper and magazine advertisement referred as the print advertisement. Using

sociological analysis it essential to understand the target group and audience targeted. The

underlying question in the print advertisement is that who advertisement is trying to sell the

product to? Does product try to reach for everyone or different social class in the society? The

text in the print or the image in the print ad should convey an idea that is essential and influential

to why the product is best for the addressed audience. Also, the choices of the word should

consider the society norms, and the images should support the text. The print advertisement

normally targets the group in the society who has access to a newspaper. Most likely the target

group for print advertisements is working class and middle age group and old people.

The television advertisement should take into consideration the time of advertisement and

the television program at that time. From a sociological perspective, people within the society

tend to look for best for themselves. Thus if the program focuses on the on youth related issues,

the advert should be targeting the youth. Thus the sociological theory in place is the symbolic

interaction. Thus through advertising, the people will tend to interact with the product according

to their understanding of the benefit they get. Television advertisement using music will help

people derive a symbol and thus interact with the product.

The functionalist perspectives of the sociological analysis the advertisement will easily

manipulate human common sense in also believing the product in the advert is the best. Thus

considering this the functionalist perspective influences a person on decision making.

Also, the advertisements of substitute good create a conflict situation. Thus the advertisement

that capture social needs dominate.
