Transmission-fluid-pressure sensors A & B – TFPS A & B (transducers)

These pressure sensors are typical transducers monitoring pressure. They are supplied with 5 volts and a ground
from the TCM. The pressure sensor then provides a linear voltage signal to the TCM proportional to the pressure
it senses. TFPS A monitors the secondary- (driven-) pulley pressure; TFPS B monitors main line pressure.

• TFPS A sets code P0868 when pressure is down

Park/neutral position sensor – PNP, & transmission-fluid-temperature sensor – TFT
The park/neutral sensor includes four position switches that the TCM uses to
judge the selector-lever position by the combination of off/on states of each
switch. The TFT is a variable resistor that signals to the TCM approximate
fluid temperature (68° F, 1.8-2.0 volts; 176° F, 0.6-1.0 volt).

DTC Scan-Tool Display Description
P0715 Input-speed-sensor No input-speed-sensor signal due to an open/short circuit, or an unexpected
circuit signal is supplied as the vehicle is driven.
P0720 Vehicle-speed-sensor No VSS signal due to an open/short circuit, or an unexpected signal is
circuit supplied as the vehicle is driven.
P0725 Engine-speed signal TCM does not receive the CAN communications signal from the ECM.
P0730 Belt damage Unexpected gear ratio detected.
P0740 TCC-solenoid Excessive or insufficient current draw is detected due to an open or
circuit shorted circuit.
P0744 TCC-solenoid The TCM commands converter-clutch apply and the engine-speed drop is
performance fault insufficient. This could also include electrical failure, or mechanical failure
of the solenoid, related shift valve, the converter clutch and/or related parts.
P0745 Line-pressure-solenoid A Excessive or insufficient current draw is detected due to an open or
circuit fault shorted circuit, or the TCM detects as irregular by comparing target value
with monitor value.
P0746 Line-pressure-solenoid A Unexpected gear ratio was detected in the low side due to excessively
performance fault low line pressure.
P0776 Line-pressure-solenoid B Secondary pressure is too high or too low compared with the command
performance fault value while the vehicle is driven.
P0778 Line-pressure-solenoid B Excessive or insufficient current draw is detected due to an open or
circuit fault shorted circuit, or the TCM detects as irregular by comparing target value
with monitor value.
P0826 Manual-mode When an impossible pattern of switch signals is detected, a malfunction
switch is indicated.
P0840 Transmission-fluid- Signal voltage of transmission-fluid-pressure sensor A (secondary pressure)
pressure-sensor A circuit is too high or low as the vehicle is driven.
P0841 Transmission-pressure- Correlation between the values of fluid-pressure sensor A
sensor function (secondary pressure) and transmission-fluid-pressure sensor B
(primary pressure) is out of specification.
P0845 Transmission-fluid- Signal voltage of transmission-fluid-pressure sensor B (primary pressure)
pressure-sensor A circuit is too high or low as the vehicle is driven.
P0868 Secondary pressure Secondary pressure is too low compared with the command value as the
down vehicle is driven.
P1701 TCM power When the power supply to the TCM is cut off – for example, because the
supply battery was disconnected or removed – and the self-diagnostics memory
function stops. This may be interpreted as a malfunction. If the battery was
known to be disconnected, this message is not a malfunction. If the battery
was not disconnected, this message may be interpreted as a malfunction.
P1705 Throttle-position TCM does not receive the proper accelerator-pedal-position signal
sensor (input by CAN communication) from ECM.
P 1722 Estimated-vehicle- CAN communication with the ABS actuator and the electrical unit
speed signal (control unit) is malfunctioning, or there is a great difference between
the vehicle-speed signal from the ABS actuator and the electronic unit
(control unit), and the vehicle-speed-sensor signal.

function accordance with the positioning of the stepper motor. Caution: Only one of
the secondary rotation, primary rotation or engine speed is displayed at the
same time
