Hands-on FEWS

Add rainfall stations to FEWS:


1. Copy the table with locations
(Rainfall_gauges.csv) to folder
config\MaplayerFiles
2. Configure the CSV file in FEWS as new
locationSet. Use the locationset of RiverGauges
as example.
3. Validate locationsets.xml, to make sure it is
correct.
4. Reload the configuration (press F5, or: menu File
– Reload Configuration.
5. Are there no errors in the log display?
Create an import module:
1. Copy Import_Rainfall.xml to
config\moduleConfigFiles
2. Check the TimeSeriesSet: is the ID of the
locationSet correct?
3. Copy idImportRainfall.xml to config\idmapfiles
4. Check the TimeSeriesSet: is the ID of the
locationSet correct?
5. Reload the configuration (press F5, or: menu File
– Reload Configuration.
6. Are there no errors in the log display?
Add the module to the workflow and run
1. Open the file
config\workflowfiles\Run_Import_all.xml
2. Add: Import_Rainfall
3. Reload the configuration (press F5, or: menu File
– Reload Configuration.
4. Are there no errors in the log display?
5. Run the workflow “Run_Import_all
6. Check the log.
7. Check the database lister if the new timeseries
are added
Add the new TimeSerieSet to the filter.
1. Copy the TimeSerieSet from Import_rainfall to
the correct place in filters.xml
2. Reload the configuration (press F5, or: menu File
– Reload Configuration.
3. Are there no errors in the log display?
4. If it does not work, copy filters.xml from USB to
config\RegionConfigFiles
5. Reload configuration
Implement a transformation
1. Copy the file Interpolate_rain.xml to
config\ModuleConfigFiles
2. Check the TimeSeriesSet: is the ID of the
locationSet correct?
3. Add the module to the workflow Run_Import_all
4. Reload the configuration (press F5, or: menu File
– Reload Configuration.
5. Are there no errors in the log display?
6. Run the workflow again
7. Are there no errors in the log panel?
8. Check the database display if new data have
appeared
Add the new TimeSerieSet to the griddisplay
1. Look at the configuration of the gridplotGroup
“National Datasets”. Copy and paste this
2. Rename the new gridPlotGroup
3. Copy the output TimeSerieset from the
transformation module and replace the
TimeSerieSet in the new gridPlotGroup
4. Reload the configuration (press F5, or: menu File
– Reload Configuration.
5. Are there no errors in the log display?
6. Evaluate the interpolated timeseriesSet in the
griddisplay
7. Change the classbreaks and see the effect
8. If it does not work, copy griddisplay.xml
