The democratic republic of India obtained independence on 15 th August,1947 from

the ruling Britishers. It was then on 26th January, 1950 that India became a
Republic. It is a democratic country. The government is of the people, by the
people and for the people. The President is the first person of India. Then comes
the Prime Minister who handles the cabinet and is the Chief. India has its own
Parliament consisting of two houses: Loksabha and Rajyasabha.
