Annotated Bibliography On Stress in School

The author’s main purpose in this article is to bring an issue to light and inform people of

the dangers of stress in school. Within the article the author talks about studies done in

private schools to determine how many students are stressed out. She brings all of the

responsibilities to light that each student has to worry about and the stress that that can

have on each student. This source is very useful because it supplies data about private

schools, which is a field that could get overlooked during the research. This is a very

important area to ensure gets its “due”. The main focus of the research paper is stress in

schools. It is important that private schools do not get left out. This is a possibility

because the majority of schools across the country are public to private institutions could

be overlooked. By including this source it guarantees that the private school sector will

be accounted for.

conducted To determine the amount of stress high school students face on a daily basis

and the coping methods used to stop it. Within the article the authors state that a lot of the

stress that is acquired in high school students never goes away and follows them to

college and can lead to mental issues. The results of the study conducted is not good and

it shows that students are suffering from stress and, if not treated properly, will follow

them to the next phases of their lives.

were sampled to get their opinions on how they felt in and about school. That survey

discovered that the three most common emotions that students felt were tired, Stressed,

and bored. This study warns that these type of negative feelings can influence you

people’s attention, memory, decision making, school performances, and social lives. In

the article the author uses the results of the surveys conducted on the sample of students

and points out that this is a dangerous trend for educators across the country. He also

points out that the two lowest scoring emotions the students said were happy and excited.

Since the negative emotions are ranked higher than the lower ones it can cause problems

in the education system. This source provides very good access to previous polls and

surveys done on the topic of stress in high school students.

describes different ways that they can help their kids manage the stress and be successful

in school. The article also details how stress can be a positive. It states that a little stress

in students lives is actually healthy but the problem is being unable keep the stress levels

at a healthy amount. It is important to note that this is a blog. This should indicate that it

may not be the most reliable source but it is important to gather different viewpoints on

the topics from other sources, even if they are not the most credible of places.

by an organization whose sole purpose is to study the brain and how different things

affect it. Within the article they reference a survey in which the data shows that the stress

level of teens in America is equivalent or greater than that of adults. One key passage of

the article states the concerning fact that teens are facing the same level of stress that

adults are but are underestimating the impact it has on their mental health.

written in order to explain the impact that stress will have on the grades and academics of

students and ways to prevent it. Within the article the authors lay out four ways in which

stress can be minimized in studying and maintaining good grades. They also talk about

the effects stress has on your brain and the physical and mental effects that it creates

when attempting to study.
