then it is
ethane-1,2-diol.
So we keep the
alkane bit
Be wary of this; ensure
the arrow from the H
bond goes through the
ring, no need to go
through C atom.
We only use cis/
trans for rings
systems,
otherwise use E/Z
or optical
Rotations in
opposite
directions with
equal magnitudes
