World’s strongest.
Maximised load-bearing capacity and supreme moving capabilities make our forestry tyres the strongest in the world. The structure
of the strong and stable Nokian Forest King F enables higher operating pressure and up to 4 m3 more load*. The advanced Nokian
Forest Rider, on the other hand, has convinced users with its first-class driving comfort and uncompromising traction.
*In six- and eight-wheeled forestry machines, the increase in load-bearing capacity from
6 900 to 8 000 kg corresponds to some 4 m3 of pinewood harvested in the summer.

General information about inflation pressure, mounting and handling of forest tyres
The inflation pressure is of vital importance for the service life of the tyre and the performance of the machine. To guarantee the tyre’s func-
tion and to provide margins for the extra stress a tyre in forest service is exposed to, the inflation pressure should be chosen with precision.
Machine specific recommendations for inflation pressure are based on:
• Loaded machine, according to the manufacture’s stated load in kilograms.
• Achieve long tyre service life.
• The stability of the machine.
The recommendations indicate minimal- normal- and maximum inflation pressure. For estimation, see headline “The effects of different infla-
tion pressure”. If a machine specific recommendation is missing, the inflation pressure should be adjusted to the load that the tyre is exposed
to in kilograms (machine weight+ load) and terrain conditions.
The inflation pressure should be adjusted to the ter- Driving with tracks

• Use a higher pressure for heavy service in demanding terrain. • Check that the track fit the tyre. On one side, there must be a dis-
tance of approximately 15 mm between the track’s side support and

age, should be repaired without causing a separation (external rub-
ber releasing from the tyre shell).
• Check the tension of the anti-slide devices, and make sure that they
do not have any loose links or sharp parts that can damage the tyre.
• Remove any branches or wood splinters that have got trapped
between the tyre and rim.
Filling forest tyres with fluid
• The tyre can be filled with fluid to increase the stability and pull force of the machine.
• Trelleborg recommends a filling of 50% of the tyre’s volume. Maximum permitted is 75%.
• The ballast (fluid) must be water. At degrees below zero, a mixture of calcium chloride/water or glycol/water is recommended.
• At a mixture of 35%, calcium chloride increases the mixture’s density up to approximately 1.2 kg/litre.
By turning the wheel and pressing the valve needle, you can easily decide whether the fluid volume is
75 % 50%
75% or 50%.
• At calculation of the wheel load, the entire ballast should be added to the machine weight.
• Because of the lower air volume, fluid filled tyres are less elastic and for that reason also more
sensitive to point loads. The rolling resistance and the dynamic forces of the wheel and suspension
are also increasing.
• Only use pressure gauges that tolerate fluid mixtures.
• To obtain the correct fluid volume, look into Trelleborg’s technical tyre manual
at www.trelleborg.com/wheelsystems_uk.
Mounting
• To prevent the tyre from slipping on the rim, use a good quality of drying installation paste.
• Inflate the tube after it has been placed into the tyre. This to avoid that the tube get creased.

Hydraulic fittings
Using original Ponsse hydraulic fittings, you can ensure that the original dimensions remain un-
changed in challenging sites. When designing connections and routes, minimised flow losses are
taken into consideration in addition to reliability and installation. By using Ponsse fittings and hos-
es, you can secure flexible routing and easy installation.
Fittings intended for specific sites guarantee the tightness and reliability of the hydraulics.

Electrical connectors
We have compiled the connectors used in PONSSE forest machines under a single title. Using high-
quality connector bodies and conductor contacts, you can prevent the connections from coming loose
and the contact surfaces from oxidising, which could result in operational failures that are difficult to
identify. The correct contacts in the correct connector body guarantee resistance-free connectors for
years ahead.
Special pliers will be required for connecting conductor contacts to the conductor, depending on the
connector type. Ponsse offers special low-cost pliers for making high-quality connections, also in field
conditions.

Ponsse Performance Packages are ready-designed spare parts packages for servicing and
updating forest machines. With the Performance Packages, even older machines can be up-
graded to correspond with the requirements of modern harvesting – be it a data system,
harvester head, forwarder scale or crane.
The Performance Package selection includes various means for improving the productivity of
your machine. Some of the packages have been designed so that outdated or ageing technology
is replaced with modern solutions; thus securing the operaibility of your machine in the future
(e.g. Opti5+ update). Moreover, some packages have been designed to replace wearing parts
and to make servicing quicker (e.g. measuring wheel packages and sleeve kits), whereas other
packages provide old machines with completely new features (e.g. scale packages). You can
also avoid extra downtime by conducting preventive servicing using the Performance Packages.
Read more about our selection of more than one hundred different Performance Packages in
the latest Service 2012 catalogue.

0067780 Buffalo loader pump
Parker 145 cm3 ➠ Rexroth190 cm3
sleeve and pin set
For service parts, pump upgrade packages are now available for PON-
SSE harvesters for upgrading the crane pump from Parker P2 to
for middle pivot
Rexroth.
With the pump upgrade, the pump’s displacement increases from 145
cm3 to 190 cm3 in Buffalo, this improving the machine’s performance.
Even when the loader is used simultaneously with many other move-
ments, its movement speed will not slow down, as it did when using
the previous 145 cm3 pump. Where as the flow rate of the smaller
pump has been sufficient for using the loader, the larger pump enables
using lower working revolutions for achieving the same flow rate.
Other models pump’s displacements are still same than before 145
cm3. Rexroth 145 cm3 pump is durable and safety solution replacing
old and worn Parker P2 hydraulic pump.
