The chosen article for the review is entitled “The Green Light”. It
refers to the BBOXX Company that tries to reduce the climate
changes through some solar panels that were placed into the
Chilean desert. The BBOXX Company, sold some of their products
to a Rwandan village, where the products were well welcomed due
their benefits that included no more stealing, the possibility to cook
in the evenings and also the possibility to read and learn at night.

The Green Climate Fund is struggling to raise the necessary

money in order to help the needy ones. Unfortenately,
spending the funds was even harder than collecting the 10
billion dollars. In the meantime, the developing countries
suffer from the climates changes, even though they are not
the ones responsible for them. Because the banks and other
groups have different points of view and different project
ideas that could lure money, the Green Climate Fund can not
give all of them a green light for their projects.

The climate changes affect Africa in various ways that

include natural disasters and economic issues due to
poverty. The disasters include floods and rainfalls, which
are no good for their agriculture.

Even though, I strongly consider that the GCF should not

have invested in putting solar panels into the Atacama
Desert.

The Atacama Desert is composed from a stony terrain, salt

lakes, sand and lava. It is well known that, as a desert, the
land lacks precipitation. Due to climate changes, the Chilean
desert is affected by the event named “El Nino”. This event
includes heavily rain, floods, hurricanes, fog and thousands
of destroyed homes. After “El Nino”, comes “La Nina”,
which is the opposite event, which is believed to be present
by the end of this year.

The two events are totally extreme and opposite one to the
other.

The first reason is that the extreme climate changes that

occur in the area and destroy everything in their way. Why
invest in an area where hurricanes and floods are a huge
problem? Yes, after the floods, the Atacama Desert blooms
and it is a good touristic place to visit, but it is not good
investing billions of dollars.

Secondly, the Green Climate Fund just gives the money.

Nobody asks how the funds were spent. Maybe this is why it
is wanted to invest in the Atacama Desert, where the climate
change affects the area.

I believe that spending the funds, strictly in Africa, in the

Rwandan village, would help more. Yes, they should invest
in solar electricity, it would also achieve the climate
standards and it would also be accessible for the villagers,
but investing in a desert that is affected by extreme events,
such as “La Nina” and “El Niño”, was not a good idea.
