1. PURPOSE:

This procedure defines the guidelines for undergoing Simulator Training for LMV Drivers who have HMV
Driving Licence.

2. SCOPE:

This procedure is applicable to all the drivers of Thriveni Earthmovers Private Limited who have more
than 02 years of experience in operating Light Moving Vehicles.

3. OBJECTIVE:

3.1. To ensure that the Organisation has sufficient trained, qualified and experienced HMV Drivers to
meet its current and anticipated service needs.

3.2. To provide opportunities to LMV Drivers to acquire new skills to perform their future role
effectively.

4. RESPONSIBILITY:

4.1. Representatives of Learning & Development Departments will ensure that these procedures are
followed by all Personnel involved in HMV Driving and Simulator Training.
4.2. Adequate budgetary provisions should be submitted by HR/ L&D Department for such training
program;
4.3. The HR/ L&D Department should monitor the effectiveness of the training program.

5. PROCEDURE :

5.1. Target Participants: LMV Drivers of TEMPL & Sister companies having HMV Driving Licence.

5.2. Nomination Process:


5.2.1. The LMV drivers are nominated for HMV driving training as per the eligibility criteria
mentioned below:
5.2.1.1. Candidate must have minimum 02 years of experience as LMV Driver.
5.2.1.2. Candidate must possess HMV Driving Licence.

5.2.2. The nominated LMV Drivers are structured into “HMV Trainee Batches”. The Trainee
Batches are formed on the basis of seniority of LMV driving experience. The Seniority of
an LMV Driver is considered as per the date of issue of LMV Driving Licence. A HMV
Trainee Batch can accumulate a maximum of 10 numbers of LMV designated drivers.
Seniority as per the date of issue of HMV Driving Licence has not been taken into
consideration as LMV Drivers do not have any practical experience in operating
Heavy Motor Vehicle within the company.
5.3. Internal Communication:
5.3.1. Internal Training Circular for the HMV Simulator Trainee Batch should be circulated to
the Projects/ Sites by the HR/L&D Department through official mail under copy to
Position Management before seven days before the commencement of HMV Simulator
Training.
5.3.2. The Project Heads are required to release the LMV Drivers as per the allocation
mentioned in the Circulars from their respective sites after making necessary alternative
arrangements with the Officer dealing Position Management.
5.3.3. The travel arrangement (To and Fro) of the nominated drivers is under the scope of the
respective Site HR Head and Admin. They will be co-ordinating with the Travel Request
for booking of train tickets. Under any circumstances, if the nominated drivers bear their
own travel expenses, they can claim their travel reimbursable expenses at their
respective sites as per the eligibility mentioned in the Travel Policy.
5.3.4. The accommodation facility for nominated drivers during the course of training is under
the scope of Tatanagar HR Head and Admin.

5.4. Training Duration:


5.4.1. The Trainee Batches will be sent to Simulator Training Centre at Tatanagar Workshop,
Bhilai Pahari for 15 days for receiving quality driving training in the Heavy Motor Vehicle
segment.
5.4.2. Blended-based Learning method is used for imparting the training course, where the
HMV Simulator trainees will be given theoretical orientation for 05 days through
classroom method on the training syllabus and for next 10 days, Practical sessions will be
carried out on the Simulator with standardized driving scenarios.

5.4.3. Later on the trainees will undergo an additional 05 days SCMS (Skill Council for Mining
Sector) Certification training so as to develop themselves as per national occupational
standards and skill competence standards for the mining industry.
5.5. Training Syllabus:
5.5.1. The HMV Simulator trainees will cover the following syllabus during the course of the
training as prescribed by Subject Matter Experts of Simulator Training Centre.

6. TRAINING ASSESSMENT AND PERFORMANCE EVALUATION


In order to continually improve the training system and to ensure that current training needs are being
correctly addressed, it is important that systematic and on-going review and evaluation of the system is
carried out.

Training programs should be carefully evaluated so that they are properly selected, planned and
delivered. Evaluation should take place at a number of stages to make certain the program is relevant to
the requirements of the Company and appropriate in terms of format, content and presentation. The
information required to evaluate a training program can be provided by number of people, and at various
stages, as follows:

Trainer: Can provide information on the structure and content of the program and
how easy or difficult it was to present. They can also provide valuable
information on how well the operators learned new information and how
well they were progressing.

Reporting Manager: Can provide feedback on the effectiveness of the program, this is best done
some time after the training has been completed, allowing sufficient time for
the operators to go back to the workplace and apply the skills and knowledge
that they have obtained. The operators’ application of the skills and
knowledge gained is validated against the Operator Training Evaluation
Form.
6.1. Training Assessment Pattern:
The HMV Simulator Trainees have to undergo 02 Assessment Processes and 01 Performance
Evaluation Process for successfully clearing the Simulator Training Program.
6.1.1. Assessment Process 01: Face to Face Interview
It is to be conducted at the end of classroom lectures, i.e., on the 05 th day of the Simulator
Training Program. The HMV Simulator trainees will be assessed by the SMEs of Simulator
Training Centre through a face to face interview based upon the theoretical knowledge on
the subject content. Scores of the individual trainees are to be kept recorded and
submitted to Central L&D Department for further evaluation process.
6.1.2. Assessment Process 02: Simulation Examination
It is to be conducted at the end of the practical session, i.e. on the 15 th day of the Simulator
Training Program. The HMV Simulator trainees will be assessed by the SMEs of Simulator
Training Centre through a practical examination. Scores of the individual trainees are to be
kept recorded and submitted to Central L&D Department for further evaluation process.

6.2. Performance Evaluation Pattern:


Upon successfully completion of the HMV Simulator Driving Training, The HMV Simulator Trainees
will be put into On – Job Training at different operational Sites for a period of two months under
the disposal of Site Mechanical & Operation Head.
6.2.1. Evaluation Process: Operator Training Evaluation Form
6.2.1.1. The performance of the HMV Simulator Trainee has to be assessed through
Operator Training Evaluation Tracker Form (See Annexure I) and recorded at
the every 15 days for the period of 02 months by the Reporting Managers.
6.2.1.2. The HMV Simulator trainees must be mandatorily assessed by two Reporting
Managers from both Operation and Mechanical Department of their
respective sites and at the end of On-job training, the forms has to be submitted
to Central L&D Department for final evaluation. The Project HR will act as the
training facilitator & monitor for all record maintenance relating to the training
program.
6.3. The Assessment score allotted by the SMEs of Simulator Training Centre and OJT Score are taken
into consideration for determining the Overall Performance Score of the HMV Trainee.
6.4. After final evaluation, The Overall Performance Score of HMV Simulator Trainees has to be handed
over to Central Head - HR/IR. Depending upon the overall performance score obtained by the HMV
Simulator Trainee, he will be designated as HMV Driver.

7. MONITORING AND REVIEW


This SOP will be reviewed periodically by Learning and Development Department in co-ordination with
Head – HR/IR and Operation Head. Where review is necessary due to legislative change, this will happen
immediately.
The implementation of this policy will be reviewed annually.
