In the past six months of my probationary period here in SMC Limay Power
Plant, I accomplished different tasks which developed my skills and improved my
knowledge about the power plant industry. It includes the following written below:

1. CONTRIBUTED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SMC LIMAY POWER PLANT


SYSTEM AND PROCEDURES:

 Presented to the batch 4 cadets the topics Introduction and Power Plant Primer
 Assigned as an IMS Support Group for Maintenance/Mechanical Maintenance
(NonConformity Report and Documentation)

2. IDENTIFY AND ASSESS LIMAY CFB PLANT DURING OPERATION, SHUTDOWN


AND CONSTRUCTION:

 Familiarized the different Systems and Sub-systems of the SMC Limay Power
Plant.
 Accomplished Discrepancy Field Inspection Report Update for Unit 1
 Documented construction update of different systems on Unit 2 which includes:
Limestone Feeding System, Cold and Hot Reheat System, Main Steam System,
ESP System, Fly Ash Handling System and Air Preheater
 Gathered Field Discrepancies for report and action on Unit 2 which includes: Hot
Secondary Air Port Motorized Valve not yet insulated (MCV-FA2006, MCV-
FA2014 and MCV-FA2024), inaccessible equalizing valve at BFP suction line (V-
FW2003) and broken BASC Pressure Gauge safety glass (PG-CW2060 C2)

3. ASSISTANCE ON THE ACTIVITIES DONE DURING OPERATION AND


SHUTDOWN ON CFB LIMAY POWER PLANT UNIT 1.

 Monitored installation of Bottom Ash Chain Conveyor Motor from Unit 3


 Witnessed installation of relocated Bottom Ash Chain Conveyor cable wires of
speed sensor
 Monitored rectification of Diesel Fire Pump Water Drain leak
 Witnessed replacement of Fire Tank Relief Valve near Diesel Fire Pump
 Observed vibration test at FAB by Performance Team
 Observed installation of ceramic at Return Legs
 Monitored replacement of GAH Hot End Sootblower Steam Supply Isolation Valve
4. ASSISTANCE DURING THE COMMISIONING AND ACTIVITIES DONE ON CFB
LIMAY POWER PLANT UNIT 2 AND 3.

 Boiler housekeeping during shutdown and pre-startup


 Witnessed calibration of Biasing Damper Analog and Digital opening indicators
 Monitored preparation for SUB Air Flushing on Unit 3
 Monitored replacement of switched main steam and steam drum safety valves on
Unit 2
 Assisted on evacuation of coal from Coal Feeders on Unit 2

5. PERFORMED MY DUTIES AS AN AUXILIARY OPERATOR (SG1)

 Observed safety and proper PPE’s all throughout the shift


 Accomplished log sheet and logbook reports for root cause analysis and
documentation
 Familiarization of boiler equipment, their location and elevation
 Performed Routine Area and Equipment Inspection which includes observation of
parameters and abnormalities on the equipment
 Performed Patrol Checklist for discrepancy field inspection report
 Performed MCC breaker on, off and grounding
 Applied and practiced standard procedures of equipment
 Performed equipment troubleshooting which includes: declogging of limestone
dispensing vessel, transmitter switch tapping, rotofeeder trip, coal feeder belt
slippage, no coal on feeder belt, clogging of fly ash transmitters,
 Performed Coal Burping during start-up
 Observed change-over of equipment as per change-over schedule or
parameters/situation demand (PAF Lube Oil Pump and FAB)
 Performed weekly/monthly scheduled test run of equipment: EDG and Diesel Fire
Pump
 Boiler housekeeping during shutdown and pre-startup
 Assisted on evacuation of bed material at Lower Furnace and Seal Pot during
shutdown
 Assisted on declogging of nozzles at lower furnace and windbox area
 Assisted on Preventive and Corrective Maintenance Activities done by
Maintenance Team
 Assisted on Maintenance Activities which includes: declogging of fly ash
transmission line, change oil and sampling at fans, grease application on
equipment, purging of transmitters, cleaning of coal feeder, breaker on and off for
maintenance panels
 Assisted on Water Treatment on Coal Sampling at Coal Feeders, Bottom Ash
Sampling at Chain Conveyor, Fly Ash Sampling at EP Transmitters and Sand
Sampling as part of daily routine during morning shift
 Performed several start-ups and shutdowns on the unit which includes valve line-
up/checklist of different plant systems involved in boiler area
 Maintained cleanliness of equipment and boiler area
 Performed application of Service Requests (SR) for the discrepancies found on
the field
 Performed tools inventory report and manpower designation during shutdown and
operation
