COURSE TITLE : FOREIGN LANGUAGE 1 (FRENCH)

COURSE CODE : FL 101

COURSE DESCRIPTION : This course introduces the students on the language


and culture behind French Language. It aims to
develop the students ‘competencies in speaking
writing, listening, and reading through drills and
dialogues. The course employs the communicative
approach; however this cannot discard grammatical
patterns.
This program utilizes the communicative approach to
teach French culture, the development of
communicative skills and the use of audiovisual
materials. It also provides a complete explanation of
the grammatical usage with corresponding
illustrations for every dialogue.

CREDIT UNIT : 3 Units

PRE-REQUISITE : None

NO. OF HOURS : 3 hours per week

COURSE OBJECTIVES : At the end of the course, students are expected to:

Cognitive:
1. Distinguish the difference between formal and
familiar way of conversation in French.
2. Trace the origin of some food terminologies used
in French Language.
3. Acquire information and recognize the distinctive
viewpoints that are only available through foreign
language and its
culture.
Affective:
1. Appreciate French culture and arts.
2. Express one’s thoughts, feelings, needs and
opinion using simple sentences in the
aforementioned languages.
3. Use greetings and expressions properly.

Psychomotor:
1. Create a dialogue based on a given situation and
problem.
2. Provide simple instructions on how to
communicate effectively.
3. Participate actively in discussions and
communication through dialogue.
4. Use visual aids properly in speaking activities.
