PRELIMINARY
1.1 Background
History of hotel development in Indonesia has been started since ancient times,
In the 18th century in major cities of Europe and America, began popping up modern
hotels. in addition to having complete facilities and also has a large number of rooms.
Modern hotels began to be established in many major cities, such as London, Paris, New
York, Boston, San Francisco, and others. The managers of these hotels not only offer
room service packages, but also start providing meeting and convergence venues along
with the latest technological devices - telephones and televisions.
In Indonesia the development of hotels in the modern begins with the opening of Hotel
Indonesia in 1962 in Jakarta. National entrepreneurs at that time formed an association
called the Organization of Similar Companies (OPS). Currently in Indonesia there has
been an organization for a hospitality business called Perhimpunan Hotel and Restaurant
(PHRI). PHRI acts as an association participating in the development of hotel and
restaurant business.
The hotel is an accommodation service that uses part or all of the buildings for
lodging, feeding and drinking services and other supporting services that are publicly
designated and managed commercially.
The success of a hotel to have many customers or guests not only from internal
parties or activities within the hotel, there should be other supporting activities in
scooping a lot of guests for example promotions using facilities such as billboard ,
advertising, newspapers, television and sophisticated is the internet.
Field work practice is one form of educational programs in schools with skills
acquisition program that is obtained through work activities directly in the world of work
to achieve a certain level of expertise.
1.2 Legal Basis of Operational Industrial Work Practice (PRAKERIN)
Implementation of industrial work practices (PRAKERIN) to become one of the
forms of vocational secondary education (SMK) in accordance with the provisions of law
No.2 / 1989 on the system of government regulation No. 29/1990 on the role of society in
national education and the decision of MENDIKBUD No. 080 U / 1993 on the SMK
curriculum as follows:
- Implementation of education is carried out in two ways: the school education and
the out-of-school education.
- Implementation of secondary schools can work with communities, especially
business and philanthropists to obtain resources to support the implementation
and development of education (PP No.10 Chapter 11, paragraph 1).
- The procurement and utilization of educational resources is undertaken by
government, community and family of learners.
- The community as a government partner has the greatest opportunity to
participate in conducting national education.
- Participation in the community may take the form of an opportunity for industrial
practice or work training.
- Government and society create opportunities to increase community participation
in the national education system.
- In vocational high schools to test new ideas undertaken in the context of
secondary education development.
- Vocational high schools may choose the following teaching organizational
patterns: o Using a production unit as if it were operating as a vocational training
vehicle. o Implementing as a group of vocational school vocational subjects and
as others in the industrial business world. o Implementing a group of skill subjects
in the eyes of the people in the industrial world. Kep.MenDikBud No.080 U /

1.3 Objectives
Each formal and non formal education has the same goal, namely to improve the
quality and quality of human resources, then in the preparation of reports from the
results of PRAKERIN which is the final task in the form of a written report
covering several aspects in general namely:
- As proof that students have implemented PRAKERIN.
- As a benchmark for schools to improve the quality of education.
- In order to practice in solving the problem material in the form of reports.
- Students can meet the basic knowledge gained from schools with knowledge
during PRACTICE at the company or agency.
- As a means of support for interested readers to study the content contained in this
report. While the objectives in Formal and Nonformal / Operational form is, as
follows:
1.3.1 Formal Objectives:
- Increase, expand and strengthen the students' skills so as to add to the provision in
the future.
- Provide students with real experience in the working world with community.
- Be able to exercise discipline and be responsible in carrying out the tasks
assigned to it.
1.3.2 Operational Objectives:
- To strengthen the skills of students acquired in school.
- To enable students to develop lesson theory from direct practice.
- To equip students with experience in the world of work as a provision in the
future. • As a basis we take data to compose papers or reports of industrial work
practices.
1.4 Benefits of Industrial Work Practices (PRAKERIN)
1.4.1 For Students
- Implementing direct learning theory with real working practices.
- Know and observe the activities at Hotel Gino Feruci Braga Bandung to study,
analyze and provide solutions to problems faced in the world of work.
- Adding insight and knowledge in the world of work.
- Prepare for the world of work.
- As a form of implementation between work and education world.
- By following field work practice, students are expected to improve their hard skill
and soft skills.
- Able to use work experience to get the desired job opportunity after completion
or graduate school.
- As an initial work experience for students before jumping into the real world.
- As a container to establish good cooperation between educational institutions and
related agencies.
- With the existence of Industrial Practice (PRAKERIN), we as students are
expected to add insight and knowledge, especially in terms of tourism and efforts
to improve the actual practice abilities implemented in the company.
4.1 Conclusions
- During the implementation of the Industrial Practice, the authors
have gained a lot of new knowledge and insights in operational
matters, as well as the author's rapid progress in discipline.
- Industrial demands on prospective workers or students who do
Industrial Work Practice program is high both in terms of skill,
knowledge or attitude.
- For Food and Beverage Service Hotel Gino Feruci Braga Bandung
operations, has a fairly good standard seen from the use of
standard operating procedures and standard job description by
all staff.
- Science that the author learned on campus is very useful in the
implementation of Industrial Work Practice.
- Given the small number of staff each department makes the
training students have a very important role.
