Credit Report From All Three Credit
Bureaus—Anytime You Want.
Regularly obtaining your credit reports is essential if you want to stay
on top of the game. You can pay up to $60 to get copies from all three
bureaus, but the following strategies will show you how to obtain them
for free.

Your credit report is available to you in a number of ways. You can

contact the credit bureaus on the phone, which can often be a
frustrating process as they usually have unmanned, voice-mail-
attended phone numbers. Also, it can take weeks to get your credit
report, with no way other than writing letters or leaving messages to
follow up on orders or ask questions.

Free Credit Report Strategy #1

Fortunately, the bureaus have made it easier to obtain your credit
reports via the World Wide Web. The Fair and Accurate Credit
Transactions Act (or “Fact Act”) entitles you to a free copy of your
credit report from all three credit bureaus once a year. You can obtain
your free credit reports by visiting:

or by calling:

You will be asked for identifying information, possibly including some of

your credit accounts, so have them available.

AnnualCreditReport.com was set up by the credit bureaus in response to

the overwhelming number of complaints by consumers. Providing access
to credit reports is one way they can appear to be cooperating.

Free Credit Report Strategy #2
You are entitled to a free credit report if a credit grantor used that report
(from that particular credit bureau) to determine you unworthy of credit,
employment or insurance. You have 60 days after being declined to obtain
your free report.

When you are denied credit, you will usually receive a letter in the mail
stating that you were denied and listing the credit bureau where they
obtained their information. This letter will often contain the contact
information of the credit bureau as well.

Simply contact the credit bureau (by phone or letter) and let them know
that you were denied credit and are therefore eligible for a free copy of
your report. You can also use the form on page 7 of this document. You
should receive your reports in the mail within a couple of weeks.

You can also get a free copy of your credit reports if you are currently
unemployed. Simply print out the form on the following page and indicate
that you are unemployed. You may also be successful by calling them at
the numbers listed below.

To print the document on the following page, click on the printer icon at

You can also get a free copy of your credit reports by signing up for the
free trial program available from the company below. This program
requires a credit card, but you will only be charged $1 during the 7-day
trial period (and that’s refundable) and you can cancel at any time, even
before the first billing.

As an incentive to sign you up for their credit monitoring programs, they

will give you a free copy of your credit reports AND your credit scores.
Most other “free credit report” companies only provide one credit bureau
report and no scores.
