Where Freedom is Free.

Bill of Rights and Responsibilities

Article I

All persons of Zermatt shall be guaranteed specific, inalienable rights regardless of color, creed,

gender, sexual orientation, or ethnicity. Such rights stand as follows:

i. All persons have the right to practice the religion of their choosing, so long as their

practice does not affect nor inhibit the practice of other citizens. No person’s religious

perspectives shall be used to cast hatred or polarize the community. Any persons

utilizing their freedom to practice in such a manner shall be asked to leave the

community. In this same manner, all persons living in Zermatt have the freedom to

marry whomever they please, and to identify with any sexual orientation that they seem

fit.

ii. All persons have the right to freedom of speech, including but not limited to speech

in their native language, so long as they are able to communicate in town hall meetings,

vote, and perform their schooling and/or business as needed. Such persons are expected

to be an active member of the community and uphold the values despite any language

barriers. Members must be able to read and speak English.

iii. All persons have the right to vote and run for office, and in fact will be expected to

vote in each election. This right is also categorized as a responsibility of Zermatt

citizens, as illustrated in Article III.

Article II

Zermatt citizens must understand that certain activities are prohibited completely from practice

in our community. We considered the following acts illegal in the community:

i. No person shall harm another being of Zermatt, whether animal or human, without

legal purpose. No human being shall be harmed in any manner, nor killed, by a member

of Zermatt, or this person will be held accountable by Swiss police and removed from

the community indefinitely.

a. The legal purpose of killing an animal is limited to food provision, which entails

that animals be killed in proportion to societal needs, not in mass production, and

that any animal production is practice in the most humane manner possible.

ii. No person shall face discrimination due to their religion, race, gender, ethnicity, etc.

Any speech or action intended to harm another person on the basis of their identity is

deemed illegal in Zermatt and the offender will be asked to leave the community. In

accordance to the value placed on diversity, discrimination directly harms this core

concept of Zermatt, and therefore has no place in the community.

iii. No person shall utilize inhumane resources to manufacture their product and/or

conduct business.

a. Child labor, prostitution, and illicit substances are banned from utilization and/or

circulation in Zermatt.

b. Rape and murder are considered the most criminal offenses of the Zermatt

community, and violators will be subject to exile and persecution by the

Swiss government. Prostitution and pedophilia are also considered illegal in

Zermatt.

c. Illicit substances include drugs other than naturally-manufactured marijuana,

prescribed medication, and alcohol. Alcoholic beverages are limited to 80 proof,

and consumption of such alcohol is encouraged to be limited and minimal.

Cannabis can only be used by citizens of Zermatt over the age of 16, regardless

of parental consent. Any prescribed medication shall be strictly regulated by the

Department of Health & Service to ensure abuse does not occur.

d. Zermatt requires children under the age of 18 to attend school and pursue

internship opportunities in place of work as incomes are to be sustainable for

their parent(s) or guardian to support them.

e. Gun ownership is illegal in Zermatt.

iv. Swiss laws apply, in most cases, to Zermatt citizens. Citizens of Zermatt should

remain aware of basic Swiss laws and basic Zermatt responsibilities and

regulations.

v. All persons visiting and living in Zermatt shall understand that infringing upon the

liberties of another human being is considered a crime, and those who do will be

asked to leave the community immediately.

vi. Citizens who refuse to uphold their responsibilities will report to the Department of

Civil Liberty & Justice.

Article III

Zermatt citizens follow certain guidelines in their behavior when living in our community.

Thus, outlined are certain individual responsibilities that uphold the wellbeing of the

community and create an environment that ensures a safe and comfortable environment for

all citizens. These responsibilities include:

i. Zermatt’s citizens are expected to vote in elections. They are expected to take on the

role of an active citizen from the age of 18, the age at which they may vote, drink, and

maintain a job and house without the consent of their parent or guardian.

ii. Zermatt’s citizens are expected maintain their health, as healthcare is guaranteed in

any line of work in the city. This includes checkups three times a year, which also

entail mental health screenings and psychiatric evaluations to ensure that Zermatt’s

citizens are both physically and mentally healthy. In this same manner, Zermatt’s

citizens are encouraged to pursue some form of recreational activity, specifically that of

physical activity, on the weekends or during their free time.

iii. Zermatt’s citizens are expected to attend school from age 3 to age 18, regardless of

possible work opportunities. They may pursue specific educational pathways depending

on their intended career path, and may attend school in different areas of Switzerland so

long as their parent(s) or guardian make specific arrangements and communicate with

the city.

iv. Zermatt’s citizens are encouraged to travel out of the city at least twice during their

residency. Any Zermatt citizen wanting to leave the city may do so at any point in time

so long as they have parental or a guardian’s consent and arrangements with another

guardian if they are under 18.

v. Zermatt’s citizens may not drive cars in the city, as Zermatt is a car free environment

that ensures pristine air quality. Electric taxis, bikes, buses, and trains may be used to

travel around and/or outside of the city.

We expect all persons applying to live in Zermatt to carefully consider these aspects of the

community. All regulations are in place to ensure that we maintain a safe, comfortable,

compassionate community in which all persons feel represented and respected. These

regulations ensure freedom remains free.
