NOTES
Traditional Worship
What would be the best way to communicate with
an ant? It may seem like an odd question, but there
is a reason. The best way to communicate with an
ant would be to become an ant! In the process you
would have to learn the “ant language.” But as
you know, there are more ways to communicate
than with words. In our opening hymn, we sing
of the many ways God has communicated with
us throughout His creation: sight, sound, trees,
flowers, sunlight and moonlight, and through other
people. And He has also spoken to people through
this written word in a language we can understand.
(This is the ministry of various Bible translation
organizations.) But God has also communicated
to us directly by becoming one of us, a far more
spectacular event than us becoming an ant! Jesus
spoke God’s words here on planet earth. Various
men, moved by the Holy Spirit, wrote those words
down. So when you read the Bible, you are not
reading mere words of humans, you are reading
words of God. It is like no other reading you ever
do. This book is not like any other book. During this
next year, we, as a congregation, will be reading
through this unique book together as Dr. Swanson
preaches through the Bible. Our simple hope is
that each of us will establish a pattern in the rest
of our life of reading what God has to say each day.
The wonder of this Book, is that it is living and God
speaks to you as you read. The pages are living.
In it, we find the mind and heart of God, and most
of all, we encounter our Savior each day.
