Introduction: What does a haunted house look like? What are some things you would find around it?

Activities:
● Demo steps: first cut haunted house – windows, doors, shape, chimney etc. Ask why is it black? (Silhouette -
● Students will collect material (paper, paint trays, paint)
● Line the bottom edge of the paper with a torn 5cm strip of black paper.
● Paste Haunted house onto paper – smudge white pastel around it – to show moonlight reflection
● Would you like to add anything to the front of the house? – e.g. silhouette of a tree, tombstones fence) – cut
those out to add on later – explain that those objects make up the foreground – i.e. what you see that’s closer
to you.
● Cover the spot where you want the moon with a black piece of construction paper
● Blot the background (white paper) with blue and purple or orange and red paint
● Add on the silhouettes you cut out for the exterior of the haunted house
Students will work on project teacher will circulate observing & offering suggestions as needed.
