Display Board

The display board can be to updated with recent seminars, symposiums and various competitions in
different institutes of India and abroad. Information related to PhD vacancies in different institutions
and vacancies in Industries can be notified.

Outside every research lab we can have notice boards updated with the recent publications from lab. It
will be helpful for students and visitors in knowing different fields of research and be informed about
the current research being done in our institute.

Lab poster of working Instruments

Central Instrumentation facility has lots of expensive and intricate instruments. For students to know
which instruments NISER possesses and its use, it would be useful for every instrument to have an
interactive poster pasted nearby mentioning the name of Instrument, its working principle, application,
inventor/scientist behind its development, precautions while handling etc. It will avoid mishandling and
thus longevity of instrument can be improved in addition to students appreciating and understanding
the science behind it.

Poster presentation outside every lab

Every research group can have the posters regarding their research displayed outside the lab to help the
students be aware of the research being done in the lab. This would help students take informed
decisions regarding their field of interest.

Portraits of scientist

To improve the aesthetic beauty, we can have portraits of great scientists near the entrance and other
common areas.

Updating School of Chemical Science website

The website looks same as it was three years before. Website need to be get updated with latest
courses floated in respective semesters in course section. Also in students section the new batch
students name should be added (It is updated till chem13).Website should mention various activities,
talks, seminars with event calendars, in the department. The website should also act as place where
students can see news of latest finding, research in world of chemistry. Information related to students
and faculties bringing laurels for the department should also be updated.

Database of students doing summer projects

In chemistry Every year more than a hundred of students go for summer projects outside NISER to
research institutes like IITs, IISERs, CSIR, DRDO, ISRO labs and other universities across India and abroad.
A database of all these students with their host institute, host mentor, fellowship etc. can be made
which will be useful for new students while applying for summer projects.

Alumni experiences

Alumni are most important assets of an institute. SCS can make a database of our alumni including their
present position, contact details etc. and take valuable suggestions from them to improve our
performance.
CSIR-NET/GRE/TOEFL

We can have short classes for these competitive exams so that we can perform well in them. We need
to come up with a plan on how to do it.
