Introduction

The “Build, Build, Build” program is a future-oriented and very relevant issue for the proposed

2018 project. The budget allocates P1.097 trillion allotment. This huge amount for 2018 will

fund more railways, urban mass transport, airports, seaports, bridges and roads, new and better

cities. The government states that they will do it because we need to “Build, Build, Build”.

According to KPMG, one of the biggest accounting firm in the world “The need for

infrastructure is one of the great global challenges of our time. Failure to invest means failure to

grow and develop our social and economic fabric”

This is implemented by Duterte administration’s infrastructure plan. For the first time in history

the major infrastructure agencies of the national government are talking and coordinating. It aids

the problem on job seekers, increasing price hike in the market place and the issue of traffic and

transportation. As a bold move, the Duterte administration commits to boost public spending for

infrastructure of gross domestic product by end of his term. The Duterte administration hopes to

attract more investments into the country.

Discussions (Pros and Cons)

Addressing the infrastructure deficit of the country has been a major demand of different sections

of Philippine society. Almost every Filipino has argued for more quality roads and bridges,

improved airports facilities and mass transport systems for everyday mobility and to ease

people’s lives.

The government sees infrastructure development as the solution to job generation, transportation

and traffic problems and high prices of goods and services. According to the International Labor

Organization’s estimated that for every $1 billion spent on infrastructure, about 200,000 direct

jobs are created, which certainly forms part of the government’s strategy for unemployment rate

reduction or six million new jobs by 2022.

These components underpin the PDP’s National Spatial Strategy (NSS), which recognizes the

role and comparative advantages of cities as engines of economic growth, poverty reduction, and

infrastructure development “to provide efficient connective networks of sustainable urban and

rural communities.

The issue with the BBB project is the lack of capacity of our construction industry. The huge

doubts arising that the lack of capacity is because the infrastructure projects under the “Build,

Build, Build” program involve large number of manpower, skilled, technical, and common labor.

But even now, talking about construction firms, they are hard-put looking for skilled workers,

electricians, welders, and plumber and even more difficult to recruit foremen, mid-level

managers, and supervisors. It appears that the major funding source is through taxes.
Position

One of the most important topic that we should have knowledge nowadays is the

implementation of the Build, build, build, program which have been a huge impact in our

economic growth stability if it is fully implemented. President Rodrigo R. Duterte is one of the

highlight in this matter because he wants that the future of our country is globally competitive

and adapts changes of whatever problems that the country’s is facing nowadays. According to

James Leather, ADB principal transport specialist “Proper infrastructure allows people access to

work, markets, education, health care, housing, and other services that will lift their standards of

living. It also boosts business potential and economic opportunities especially in rapidly growing

areas. This project will help the Philippines realize its potential and remain competitive”. As

stated, do we think it will make our country realize its potential and remain competitive?

According to Duterte, “if we all work together all of these can happen in 3-5 years. He

said that it will be a clean government”. We may think of the possibilities that this project will

shackle the country in debt for generations to come. We cannot stop those ruckuses because it

involves a huge amount of money for the budget implementation. According to the latest Pulse

Asia survey report released “when we talk about the performance and trust ratings of President

Duterte in September, with eight of ten Filipinos approving of his work and trusting him”. It

signifies that there is a possibility that this project infrastructure will be taking efficiently and

effectively because we believe of his capability.

We should take actions. We should think globally. We should adapt changes. Adapt

changes because if not we will cease to exist. This insight is one of the possibilities why our

president is taking risk to promote changes. If we will not take actions today who is brave to

solve this changes? We all want our country to prosper but if we ask them, who will take

actions? No one can answer because it’s in the nature of an individual to think changes but never

take a huge responsibility. We Filipinos aims grow and develop our social and economic aspect,

that’s why we should support Dutertenomics infrastructure project because it is not just for him

but for our nation’s generations to come. This strategy will aim a government to be prepared in

all changes and challenges. We need to be globally competitive and adapt changes specially in

facing all of those difficulties in general. Take risk, take possible actions and implement

effectively and efficiently if we all work together as one of this project.
