Summary of Bio-Data of Tarun Kanti Das

I have more than 35 years experience as Economic Policy Adviser in the Finance Ministries of India,
Bangladesh, Nepal, Mongolia and the Gambia for formulation, coordination and monitoring of implementation
of economic policies and programs. I performed the following multi-disciplinary tasks:
(a)Review past performance and advise on economic policies, plans, programs and management;
(b)Review, evaluate and advise on institutional and legal framework for strengthening economic policy
making across the Government Agencies;
(c)Formulate policies and plans, assess macroeconomic stability, fiscal-financial viability and debt
sustainability of government policies, plans and programs; and prepare appropriate briefs for the
Minister and Cabinet;
(d)Conduct Macroeconomic Modeling and prepare Medium-term Strategic Plans and Budgets;
(e)Project appraisal and result-based monitoring and evaluation;
(f)Manage public debt and formulate policies for capital market developments;
(g)Publish and disseminate economic-financial data and policies to the public.

and UNSIAP in 26 countries (including Sri Lanka), in Asia, Africa, Europe and America.

Hold MA degree in Economics from Calcutta University and Ph.D. in Economics as Commonwealth
Scholar from the East Anglia University, England.
