I. Opening Song (Lord I Offer My Life To You by Don Moen
Things in the past Things in the past Things yet unseen Wishes and dreams that are yet to come true All of my hopes And all of my planes My heart and my hands are lifted to You Lord, I offer my life to You Everything I've been through Use it for Your glory Lord I offer my days to You Lifting my praise to You As a pleasing sacrifice Lord I offer You my life II. Opening Prayer O God, our Creator, all life is in your hands from conception until death. Help us to cherish our children and to reverence the awesome privilege of our share in creation. May all people live and die in dignity and love. Bless all those who defend the rights of the unborn, the handicapped and the aged. Enlighten and be merciful toward those who fail to love, and give them peace. Let freedom be tempered by responsibility, integrity and morality. III. 1st Reading (2 Corinthians 5: 1-10) A reading from the book of St. Paul to the Corinthians, 2 5 1For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, 3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. L: The word of the Lord. A: Thanks be to God. III. Gospel L: A reading according to the gospel of St. Matthew A: Glory to you, Oh Lord 18 While he was saying this, a synagogue leader came and knelt before him and said, “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live.” 19 Jesus got up and went with him, and so did his disciples. 20 Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. 21 She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.” 22 Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed at that moment. 23 When Jesus entered the synagogue leader’s house and saw the noisy crowd and people playing pipes, 24 he said, “Go away. The girl is not dead but asleep.” But they laughed at him. 25 After the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up. 26 News of this spread through all that region. Closing Song (Lift Up Your Hands by Basil Valdez) Life is not all that bad, my friend, hmmm If you believe in yourself If you believe there's Someone Who walks through life without you You'll never be alone Just learn to reach out, And open your heart Lift up your hands to God, And He'll show you the way.
And He said, "Cast your burdens upon Me
Those who are heavily laden, Come to Me, all of you who are tired Of carrying heavy loads, For the yoke I will give you is easy And My burden is light, Come to Me and I will give you rest."
