CONTEMPORARY PHILIPPINE ARTS FROM THE REGIONS

VI. Specific Learning Outcomes:

Create a virtual museum highlighting the different art forms and artists in the Philippines promoting its
significance and value to the regions specifically emphasizing the region where the school is based and act as
curator in order for the students to showcase their talents and skills using ICT which will give them an idea
what career goals and aspirations they would like to pursue in the future.

3. Explain Filipino artists’ roles and identity their contribution to contemporary arts;

VIII. Lesson Outline:

A. Activity:

This morning we will have a game which we will be called “Find Me a Partner”. I will divide the class
into four groups. You will select your own leader who will lead you all throughout the game. Each group will
be given set of pictures and words in which you will be matching through analyzing its connections to each
other. The set of pictures are the depictions of the set of words related to the different types of art forms in the
region. Paste the pictures at the most left side and put beside it the word/s that defines it. The first group which
will finish matching the picture to the correct concept it signify must sing any song that may signal to the class
that they are done with the task. Each correct answer would correspond to one point. The group that gets the
highest score will be declared as winner. (This will be done within 5 minutes).

B. Analysis:

The teacher will present to the class the topic to be discussed. They will be asked to define and give
examples of contemporary art forms in the region. They will discuss and present their findings in a small group
discussion.
On the same groupings, the teacher will conduct another learning activity which will be called “Classify Me
to Where Should I Belong”. The teacher will present a short video clips on contemporary Philippine arts. The
students will simply classifying contemporary art forms to the right art form it belongs. Every group member
has the opportunity to classify the artworks identified in the video and match it to the right art forms. The group
that has more identified artworks with correct note what type of art it signify will be declared as winner. (15
minutes)

C. Abstraction:

Directions: With the same grouping done during motivation, the group will be given different meaningful
learning tasks to further broaden the students’ knowledge about the topic. (This will be done for 5 minutes and
their output will be showcased to the class for only 3 minutes).
Group 1: Read the reading materials given. Define contemporary arts in the Philippines and identify some of the
various contemporary art forms in the region.
Output: Using appropriate illustration diagram, present the definition of contemporary arts in the Philippines
and identify some of the various contemporary art forms in the region. Base your examples on the barangay
setting (Use PPT if possible)
Group 2: Read the reading materials given. Explain Filipino artists’ roles and identify their contribution to
contemporary arts. Evaluate also the art forms based on the elements and principles of art.
Output: Using appropriate illustration diagram, explain Filipino artists’ roles and identify their contribution to

D. Application:

 Conduct a short multiple choice quiz.


 Directions: With the same grouping created during motivation and group activity, perform the
following group task. (1 hour for introducing and presenting models of the activity and another 1
hour for output critiquing). Rubrics Attached.

Group 3: Create a virtual museum highlighting the literatures of the region and act as curator.
