Definition of Collocation
1. Lexical Collocation. Considered as lexicalized phrases where two recurrent lexical elements
have a syntactic relationship (William, 2003). Examples: strong tea, a bouquet of flowers,
best regards.
2. Grammatical collocations consist of a noun, or an adjective or a verb, plus a particle (a
preposition, an adverb or a grammatical structure such as an infinitive a gerund or clause)
(Bahns, 1993:57). The following are the examples: at night, extend to, good at, fall for, to be
afraid that.
Identification of ST and TT
For the purpose of this current investigation, the ST that selected is from the famous novel, “A
Walk to remember” . From those source text, we expect for more variety result of collocation.
Sparks wrote the manuscripts for A Walk to Remember, his third novel, in the summer of 1999.
He wrote it in North Carolina, which is the setting of the novel. Like his first published novel The
Notebook, the prologue to A Walk to Remember was written last.
Collocation Search
The following findings table display the results of collocation investigation in ST and TT.
The findings table consist of collocation in ST as well as in TT, their kind, pattern and
strategy of translation.

Conclusion
Based on our analyses and findings on the display table, the kind of ST, the dominant
one is grammatical. While in TT, both of it are balance between lexical and grammatical.
Talk about translation strategy, we found that the dominant strategy used is collocation
on the display table. Its as evidence that collocation in ST is commonly heard as also collocation
in TT which consists of two words to form a meaning.
