Market Survey Report

The purpose of our report was to find out how many electronics store in Sukkur are using
ePOS on their shops and how what is their satisfaction before, after and without it. We also
looked for a client who want to switch to ePOS from their existing system and made a SRS for
that.

About Sukkur Market


Sukkur city is the third largest city of sindh province situated at the junction of punjab and
baluchistan. The upper sindh has an agro-based economy. Accordingly, most of the agro-
based industries were set up here including cotton ginning, vegetable ghee & cooking oil, flour,
cotton thread, cement, fertilizer, agriculture implements, tractors repair workshop,
confectionery and dates processing mills etc. Sukkur is also a distribution centre, which fulfills
the requirement of whole of the upper sindh, part of lower punjab and baluchistan. Main
products for distribution are: cotton and silk cloth, hosiery, general merchandise, dates, dry
fruits, fresh fruits, vegetables, medicines, paints and varnishes, crockery and cutlery, stainless
steel crockery, sanitary ware and fittings, cement, fertilizer, wheat, flour, timber and other
miscellaneous items.

Sukkur has the largest dates and dry dates market of asia. Dates and dry date are being
exported to india, australia and america for about rupees two billions. In addition knitted ware
are also exported from sukkur. Major products being imported here include chemicals, dyes,
second hand clothing and industrial raw materials.

There are two industrial estates in sukkur i.e. sindh industrial trading estate (site) and small
industries estate (sie). The site was established in 1963 over an area of about 1060 acres and is
managed by a managing director and a board housed at karachi.

Research Methodology
Due to limited resources we restricted or selves to just one market, Waritar road and did
complete research there. We went to 20 different shops and asked them to fill a questionnaire
below.

3. How much you are willing to spend to switch to a new system or improving current
system ?

4. Will Automated Sales/Purchase Inventory system Improve your shops sells ?

5. Are you satisfied with your current system ?

And from the survey we deducted the result and predicted that for the whole Sukkur market.

Mixed Reaction, most of them were interested in upgrading their manual system with
electronics gadget but not really interested in making a complete ePOS inventory system.

Around 10,000 to 50,000 but on average something near 25,000 not more then that.

Only 3 shops owner thanked that it will improve their system, other thought no , but will
definitely improve their management that was their opinion.

Again all shop owners were satisfied with their current system and only 25% thought they need
change.

Conclusion
So from they survey we concluded that almost 95 percent of shops I sukkur are using manual
system for their sells/purchase and inventory system. Shop keepers are hesitant to changes
and are not willing to spend more money on optimizing this process as their current system is
satisfying them. But a cheap Automated generic ePOS will definitely be a game changer in this
market. A low price system will attract the shop owners to buy new system as we say there
was flexibility among some shop owners to switch to new system given that cost is less.

We found our client Faisal Electronics and promised them to deliver a cheap ePOS system
under 25 Thounds and prepared a SRS and Vision Document for them as well.
