DETAIL SPECIFICATION SHEET

NIPPLE, PNEUMATIC STARTING, 3 INCH ID

This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies

of the Department of Defense.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Material: Bar: Corrosion resistant steel (18-8) Comp FM, AISI Type No. 303, SAE-AMS-S-7720.
Casting: Corrosion resistant steel (18-8) Type No. 303. .Passivate per QQ-P-35 after machining.

2. All outside surfaces shall be finished to 125 µin Ra. Surface finish shall be in accordance with
ASME B46.1.

3. Unless otherwise specified, all fillets to be .020 radius.

4. Porosity Test: Finished castings shall not leak when subjected to 100 PSI air pressure and
submerged in water for 3 minutes.

5. Remove burrs and break sharp edges; .015 Max.

6. Installation: When installed, space surrounding the nipple shall be free of any obstruction as shown in
Figure 2.

NOTES:

1. Dimensions in inches. Unless otherwise specified, tolerances: Decimals ± .010, Angles ± ½ °.

2. Certain provisions of this specification are the subject of international standardization agreement
NATO STANAG 3372. When amendment revision, or cancellation of this specification is proposed
which will modify the international agreement concerned, the preparing activity will take appropriate
action through international standardization channels, including departmental standardization offices, to
change the agreement or make other appropriate accommodations.
