FINAL PROJECT

What’s Happening in Canada?

Final Project
This project is meant to give you a chance to delve deeper into Canadian society during
the 20th Century.
Select a topic from any of the units in this course. It has to be a topic that involves
Canadians directly. This is your opportunity to research an area of interest!
You will answer the following questions:

How did ________________ influence modern Canadian society? What similar

events are occurring today?
In other words, you are expected to research your topic and explain how it influences
Canadian society today. You must also draw a comparison between a similar
event/person in today’s society.
For example, at the Holocaust Symposium, there was a presentation drawing
comparisons between the Nazi regime (past) and ISIS (present).
Your project must include the following
o At least 3 primary sources that are not images
o At least 5 relevant images depicting your event/issue
o At least 2 secondary sources other than the textbook and Ms. Razzell’s notes
o An explanation of your topic
o An explanation of how your topic influences modern Canadian society
o A comparison to a similar event occurring today (the event does NOT have to be
in Canada)
o A complete bibliography (citationmachine in APA format)
You can present your information in any format you wish (poster, diorama, prezi, ppt,
scrapbook, skit, stopmotion etc) however, you MUST be able to present it to a small
group (5 people) on presentation day. This means that if you choose to do a project that
requires technology, you are responsible for bringing the technology to class.
When you have a topic in mind, come sign up to ensure that it is suitable and that there
are no duplicates in the class.
This project is due on _________________, at which time you will present your project
to a group of your peers in a 10 minute presentation.
