I am writing this letter to convey my endorsement of Ariel Hernandez for admission to her chosen institution of
higher learning. I have known and taught Ariel since the beginning of her sophomore year in multiple math
classes. In the classroom, Ariel has proven herself to be a highly intelligent and talented young woman with a
great deal of potential.
Over the course of her academic career, Ariel has been enrolled in math courses at the Cambridge IGCSE level
as well as the university level. Mathematics courses in the Cambridge curriculum are highly rigorous and
emphasize organization and creative problem solving over process. At present, Ariel is enrolled in our college
algebra course, a course which prepares her for college by exposing him to the same rigors which first year
Arizona State University students face in their studies. Ariel is currently performing very admirably and is well
on pace to receive university credit for both college algebra and pre-calculus by the end of her senior year.
I have had the privilege of watching Ariel undergo an immense transformation over the course of her high
school career. Although Ariel has always had the ability, tools, and intelligence to be an outstanding student,
she has only capitalized upon her gifts for the latter half of her high school career. Seeing her grow into a
young woman who believes that success and high achievement are in her grasp and is willing to do whatever is
necessary to reach her goals is amazing. Put simply, Ariel has not improved as a student; she has changed
fundamentally.
In closing, Ariel is a young woman of great potential, intelligence, determination, and confidence. She is
greatly deserving of the opportunity to join the university of her choosing. I have every confidence that she
would be a great credit to its student body.
Warm regards,
Steven Ruiz
