ETP DESIGN BASIS AND PERFORMANCE PROJECTION

The below data has been considered for design of the plant

Flow 50 m3 /Day
BOD 850 mg/L
COD 1200mg/L
pH 6.0 8.5
TSS 700 mg/L
O&G 40mg/l

The Effluent Treatment system upon reaching steady state, would produce the following results
when operated under optimum design conditions and subjected to regular testing programmes
and monitoring

After Treatment

Flow 50 m3 /Day
BOD < 10 0 mg/L
pH 6.5 8.5
TSS < 100 mg/L
O&G < 10 mg/L
COD < 250 mg/L
ETP PROCESS DESCRIPTIO N

The Effluent from the diary is passed through a grit chamber where all the sand is sedimented, it

is removed from time to time manually. The degritted effluent is then passed through a bar

screen to remove coarse solids and big particles to see that the mechanical equipment doesnt get

clogged. The Bar screen is cleaned from time to time manually. The effluent is then passed

through a grease trap where oil and grease are separated .The grease tr is cleaned from time to

time manually.

The effluent after grease trap is taken into a equaliz tank .The function of the equalization

tank is to equalize the effluent and pump uniform quantity of effluent into the treatment plant.

The equalization tank is provided with two pumps (one working +one standby) working on

level controller. The contents of the equalization tank are well mixed by air supplied through

coarse bubble diffusers. The equalized effluent is then passed primary clarifier in which solids

will be settled and the clarified effluent will be sent to Fluidized media reactor. In this process

bacterial growth medium is used to maintain the MLSS in the reactor and oxygen is supplied by

diffusers, the overflow from the FMR reactor is taken Activated sludge process tank. In this

process sufficient microorganisms are maintained in the reactor by the way of MLSS and oxygen

is supplied through fine bubble diffusers with the help of air blowers. The effluent from aeration

tank enters into a secondary clarifier in which solids will be settled. The settled sludge is

pumped into aeration tank to maintain the MLSS in the and part is wasted and taken into

the sludge drying beds. The clarified effluent is then taken into treated effluent storage tank and

sent to tertiary treatment plant

LIST OF UNITS

GRIT CHAMBER CUM OIL AND GREASE TRAP

This is a RCC tank .The function of the tank is to trap the silt comes along with effluent and trap
the floating oil & grease content to minimize the Oil and grease levels in the effluent.

EQUALISATION TANK
This is a RCC tank function of the tank is to homogenize the quality of effluent water, as well as
to feed effluent at a uniform rate to the rest of the treatment plant, an equalization tank is
proposed. In order to mix the contents.

RAW EFFLUENT PUMPS

These are mechanical equipments. The function of the pumps is to pump the equalized and
neutralized waste at a uniform rate of into the primary clarifier tank

PRIMARY LAMELLA CLARIFIER

This is a RCC tank with sloping bottom. The function of the primary clarifier is to settle the
suspended solids present in the Raw effluent to minimize the TSS level in the effluent. The
clarifier is provided with tube pac media to separate & settle sludge.

FMR AND AERATION TANK

These are RCC tanks. The function of the tank is biological stabilisation of the wastewater is
accomplished in the aeration tank in the presence of microorganisms, for the respiration of
which, Oxygen is supplied by means of diffused aeration prising membrane diffusers and air
blowers.

DIFFUSED AERATION SYSTEM

These are mechanical equipment. The function of the blowers is to supply oxygen to the
diffusers. These diffusers are of fine pore type. The function of the diffusers is to convert the air
into small bubbles to increase the air transfer efficiency.
SECONDARY CLARIFIER

This is a RCC tank with sloping bottom. The mixed liquor (waste water with micro organism)
existing in the aeration tank has to be clarified in this clarifier, as well as to thicken the biomass
MLSS (Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids). The clarifier is provided with tube pac media to
separate & settle sludge.

SLUDGE PUMPS

These are mechanical equipments. The function of the pump is to lift the settled sludge in both
primary and secondary clarifiers and the same will be mped into aeration tanks and sledge
drying beds

SLUDE DRYING BEDS

This is a civil unit. The function of the drying beds to solidify the clarified sludge which will
be in slurry form. These beds should be cleaned manually time to time.

CHLORINATION SYSTEM

The function of the system is to disinfect the treated effluent by dosing suitable quantity of
Sodium hypo solution by a dosing pump.
