FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION

In this research, the researcher finds many information about teachers perspective in
national examination and its backwash:
1. The teacher who teaches at private school stated that national examination just makes the
students feels stressful. But the teacher who teaches at language course stated that
national examination is a test which is conducted by the government to standardize
Indonesian students qualification of education.
2. Status of national examination
The teacher of language course argues that national examination can be considered as the
high-stake testing since it is able to determine the students fate, whether they can
graduate from their school or not. But it is full of risk because the government applied the
same standard toward the students with different background, etc.
The teacher from private school argues that national examination is used as the
requirement for the students to continue to the higher level. She considers it includes in
low-stake testing.
3. The way the teacher teach
The teacher of private school state that teaching method to teach 7th, 8th, and 9th grade is
different from another. The teacher teach 7th and 8th grade as a means of communication
(written and spoken) but in 9th grade she teaches materials that will be used in national
examination.
The teacher of language course teaches the students based on their need inn national
examination. But she feels hard to teach the students as a mean of communication since
focus on text.
4. Both of the teacher dont change the way they teach English but they just focus on how to
answer the test item in national examination. Despite of its changing status, it doesnt
really give significant influence to the way the teacher teach English.
The authors major finding are clearly presented because the researcher explain detail the
perspective about the national examination between the teacher who teaches in private school
with the teacher who teaches in language course.
The researcher adequately address the stated research objectives. It is clearly proved that
the researcher discuss about the teachers perspective toward the national examination and its
backwash although the researcher doesnt mention which level will be discussed in the title but it
is directly mentioned that it is in the level of junior high school.
There is no supporting data such as picture or table. The researcher just narrate the
findings and discussion through words.
In this research, the research results validates the authors conclusion. It is proved that
national examination still give negative backwash although the status is changed from high-stake
testing into low-stake testing.
The researcher doesnt suggest any direction for further research because the results of
this research shows that both of the teachers (private school and language course) stated that they
dont change the way they teach the students.
In this research, the researcher doesnt emphasize about the significant of this research
because it seems to be an information about the national examination based on teachers
perspectives.
CONCLUSION
The conclusion of the journal is about the teacher still believe that national examination is
the most important test that students need to pass. Although, the national examinations status has
changed (high-stake tasting to low stake tasting) . So, it still influence of the teachers when they
are teaching. The author also explains the backwash of national examination. She recommends
that the government should not stop national examination even though it has negative backwash.
In this part we can analyze :
- The author does not explain about the time when she did the research.

- The author writes this part well because she does not omit the structure or make error that
might affect the validity or reliability of the research.
- The result of the research is original and significant because in this part the author gives
explanation and recommendation based on the data.
- The author provides fresh insight about the backwash of national examination and teacher
perspective about it
- The structure is well order because in the beginning of the part, the author explains about
the conclusion of the research and at the end of the part, she gives her recommendation
about the research.
- This part is too short, she should explain more detail about the conclusion and
recommendation of the research.
- The author is objective and respect to the participant because she does not support one side
of the participants. She also does not blame both of the participants.

REFERENCE
This international journal article uses six references from book, other international journal
article and blog. There are 3 references from book, 2 references from journal, and 1
reference from blog. The author does not write the reference orderly based on alphabet.
