Swachhata Hi Seva concludes at PPT

In response to the clarion call given by the Ministry of Shipping to
citizens of India to contribute for improvement of sanitation status in
the country - a nation-wide sanitation campaign - "Swachhta Hi
Seva", which started on 15th September, 2017 finally culminated at
Paradip Port Trust on 03.10.2017.
In the valedictory function held at Jaydev Sadan, Shri UR Mohan
Raju, Secretary, PPT gave a visual display on various activities
undertaken during the above period to the audience. During the
campaign period, various departments have undertaken activities
like cleaning of colonies, schools, stadiums, weeding out of old
records, furniture, repairing of potholes and cleaning of roads,
removal of unwanted vegetation, painting of buildings, upgradation
and cleaning of public toilets etc. to keep the surroundings neat and
clean.
Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, PPT
told that apart from conducting cleaning programmes, we should
inculcate the habit of being clean and all should unite in our effort to
make Paradip a clean city. Later on he gave away Swachhata Prizes to
various schools, banks, PPT officers and Sections, Paradip Sakshayrata
Samity volunteers, Safai Karmacharis and also to Paradip Municipality.
A Swachhata Rath was also flagged off on 25.09.2017 by PPT on the
eve of Swachhata Campaign. It went round the colonies in and
around Paradip area to spread awareness for cleanliness and
Swachhata Message.

PORT CAPACITY
The Expert Committee engaged by Ministry of Shipping
has re-rated the capacity of All Major Ports as per Berthing
Policy 2016, wherein they have ranked Paradip Port as
No. 1 in terms of Rated Capacity at Berth which stands at
277 MMTPA among all the Major Ports. The Effective
Rated Capacity of PPT is 234 MMTPA and the capacity at
Desired Occupancy is 164 MMTPA.
 Offering MCHP Facilities for Mechanized Handling
of Iron ore Pellets at Paradip Port
Paradip Port has taken a quantum leap on 12.10.2017 to offer the
best of services to the Port Users by extending the facility of loading
Iron Ore Pellets using Mechanized Coal Handling Plant (MCHP).
Loading for a trial shipment of 57,000 Tons Iron Ore Pellets of an
Exporter M/s Brahmani River Pellets Ltd. (BRPL) in the Vessel MV
AURELIA berthed at Coal Berth # 1 in the MCHP began on
12/10/2017. The loading in the trial shipment got completed in 53
hours as against 72 hours in a manual berth.
This new venture of handling pellets through MCHP shall be
beneficial to both Paradip Port Trust as well as the Exporter(s) making
a win-win situation for both. Whereas the Exporter would benefit by
reduction in its handling cost because of faster turnaround of their
Vessels, Paradip Port Trust would benefit by making a better and
efficient utilization of its facilities and a drastic reduction in the producers in Odisha. This measure will help both, the exporters by
congestion of intra-port roads caused by the IPT dumpers. The new reducing vessel Turn Round Time and the Port optimally utilizing
facility being extended by PPT comes as a boon to the Iron Ore Pellet the capacity.

Vigilance Awareness Week begins at PPT

As per the instructions of Central Vigilance Commission, Paradip
Port is observing Vigilance Awareness Week from 30th Oct 2017 to
4th Nov. 2017. The week long function started with administering
pledge by Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, PPT to the officers &
employees of PPT on 30.10.2017 at 11.00 AM. A Street Play named
"Musa - The Rat" was organised on the occasion by CANMASS to
make the public aware about the menace of corruption in our daily
life. This Street Play will also be held at different places of Paradip for
the awareness of general public.
Various competitions like Essay, Painting, Elocution and Quiz
competitions among the PPT Officers & Employees, local school
students and other activities relating to Vigilance Awareness are
scheduled during this week long observance. PPT Officers and
Employees are also taking Integrity -
e-pledge through PPT Website and
website of CVC and for this they
will receive Certificates of
Commitment from CVC. The
Integrity Pledge will also be
administered to different school
students by HODs, Sr. Officers on
different dates during the week
long observation.
Several Banners have been
displayed in the locality for creating
awareness among the public as part
of CVC instructions as current year
theme is "My Vision - Corruption
Free India". The valedictory
function will be held on 4th
November 2017, wherein the
prizes will be distributed.
 PPT observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas
Paradip Port Trust observed Rastriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity
Day) on 31.10.2017 on the occasion of the birth Anniversary of
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Shri N Vaiyapuri, Dy. Chairman, PPT offered floral tribute to Sardar
Vallabhbhai Patel along with PPT Officers and Employees.
Thereafter, he administered Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge to the
Cleaning Operations by PPT under Swachh Bharat Campaign
in the localities of Paradip
PPT continued its campaign for cleaning of Paradip town, as the
Finance & Accounts Dept. of Paradip Port Trust carried out cleaning
operations at Bank Street, under Swachh Bharat Campaign on
07.10.2017. Under the guidance of Shri S.K. Sahu, FA & CAO, PPT,
the message - "Our Cleanliness is the beauty of Mother India" was
spread out. The Officers and Employees of the Finance Dept. of PPT
officers and employees of PPT in the Administrative Building
premises.
In the evening, Dy. Chairman, PPT took salute from the platoons
participating in a march past comprising of contingents from the
CISF Unit, PPT, Paradip Port High School Naval NCC & Paradip
College Naval NCC, students from Odisha Maritime Academy.
cleaned the surroundings, roads and drainages, removed the
roadside garbage, weeds, debris etc. from the respective areas.
PPT has made a year-long schedule to undertake cleanliness in and
around Paradip area on 1st and 3 rd Saturday of every month, by
each Department.
 Principal commodity-wise traffic
handled during 2017-18 upto Oct., 2017
Paradip Port Trust, in the current financial year up to 31st
October 2017 handled 55.78 Million Metric Tonnes as
compared to 50.24 Million Metric Tonnes of Cargo handled
during the corresponding period of the previous year. This is an
increase of 11.03% over the traffic handled during the
corresponding period of previous year.
In the current financial year up to October 2017, Coking Coal
traffic has exhibited a growth of 14.59%. Similarly, Iron Ore
traffic has increased by 82.44%, POL Traffic has increased by
34.06%, Container Cargo traffic grew by 61.56% and Other
Cargo Traffic has increased by 5.31%, compared to the same
period of previous year. Paradip Port has retained the second
highest position in terms of Cargo handled amongst all the major
ports till the end of October 2017.
The average Berth-day output up to the month improved by
8.41% over the corresponding period of previous year. The Port
achieved an output per ship berth day of 23,976 MT/Day up to
October 2017 as compared to 22,116 MT/Day.
The Port also handled 141 vessels in October 2017 as compared
to 129 vessels in October 2016.
Paradip Port Trust handled 29.58 Million Metric Tonnes rail
borne traffic up to the end of October 2017 as compared to 29.61
Million Metric Tonnes handled during the corresponding period
of the previous year.
The average TRT registered an improvement from a level of 5.47
days up to October 2016 to 3.42 days upto October 2017.

Kendra, Bhubaneswar organised two day workshop for
women employees on "Family Harmony for Women
Employees" at Conference Hall, PPT from 24th
November to 25th November, in which 12 participants

Sagarmala Project

As a part of capacity augmentation

under Sagarmala programme, an outer
harbour is proposed by PPT at an
estimated cost of ` 8764 Cr. to handle
large Cape size vessels up to 2 Lakh
DWT, up to 22 M draught.
