Dec 07 2017 11:21 PM Update the font.

Dec 07 2017 11:11 PM Just polish it up and keep it as is. There are better things to spend the money on and it looks good with the current colors
and lighting.
Dec 07 2017 10:54 PM Take the money and spend it imon something more useful.
Dec 07 2017 10:43 PM
Paint it, put some new metal on the legs, and leave the rest as is. There are more important things to worry about.
Dec 07 2017 10:38 PM I think the Reno Arch is just fine the way it is.
Dec 07 2017 10:13 PM Please keep the traditional neon
Dec 07 2017 10:03 PM Looks great and iconic as is. Vintage neon for the win
Dec 07 2017 09:58 PM Put the old arch back
Dec 07 2017 09:47 PM Leave it as is!
Dec 07 2017 09:44 PM Keep the NEON!!!
Dec 07 2017 09:42 PM No
Dec 07 2017 09:40 PM Please dont change the sign its so beautiful and classic! Thank you!
Dec 07 2017 09:36 PM
I love the sign the way it is and I feel like most people that are nostalgic about Renos heyday would agree with me.
Dec 07 2017 09:35 PM Why would you change this? All my friends who visit cant wait to get their picture taken by it. Spend the money on the
buildings by the montage... seriously get your priorities straight.
Dec 07 2017 08:56 PM it is perfect the way it is
Dec 07 2017 08:48 PM Dont chang it, its an icon!
Dec 07 2017 08:39 PM I think it would be awesome if the city could work towards using renewable energy to power the arch.
Dec 07 2017 08:23 PM Keep the nostalgia
Dec 07 2017 08:18 PM Classic all the way.
Dec 07 2017 08:15 PM
LED lights can be made to look like existing neon strips, satisfying those purists who don't like the looks of modernity.
Dec 07 2017 08:14 PM Please keep it the way it is!!
Dec 07 2017 08:11 PM It is iconic so we should keep it as close to the same, just a little upgrade...
Dec 07 2017 07:56 PM More neon!
Dec 07 2017 07:55 PM More neon!
Dec 07 2017 07:41 PM No
Dec 07 2017 07:29 PM the neon is iconic. the LED is cold
Dec 07 2017 07:24 PM
I grew up in Reno and now that I live in Oklahoma no one had ever heard of Reno nv. All they know is Vegas. Please!!!
Our "biggest little city" is no longer known. It makes me sad and I pray to see Renos name higher on the list.
Dec 07 2017 07:23 PM Keep the neon!
Dec 07 2017 07:11 PM Do it u nerds
Dec 07 2017 07:02 PM This is a historic land mark and should be treated as such. Such a generational thing to fix something thats not broken.
Keep the traditions alive Nevada.
Dec 07 2017 06:51 PM Leave the sign alone.
Dec 07 2017 06:51 PM Don't mess with history good intentions often ruin many historical objects. Please don't mess with perfection.
Dec 07 2017 06:49 PM Yall better not change the sign to LED. Neon is so important to our city and its tradition and history.
Dec 07 2017 06:46 PM Color changing is gaudy. Keep Reno a classy and long lasting iconic sign with neon
Dec 07 2017 06:37 PM DONT CHANGE THE SIGN. NEON IS THE ONLY COOL THING LEFT ON THIS EARTH.

Dec 07 2017 06:18 PM The Reno arch is an important landmark for generations of native Nevadans and should be restored and preserved as is.
The Reno neon is more than just lights and changing to LED or color changing lights would only modernize the sign and
take away from it's roots. Not to mention the amount of money it would cost to change it and upkeep it, because the GSR
has a hard enough time with that. The diamonds on the north and south are always broken, which in turn looks bad. We
don't want our Reno arch looking bad.
Dec 07 2017 06:08 PM Neon only
Dec 07 2017 05:59 PM Go LED!
Dec 07 2017 05:48 PM Keep it the same!
Dec 07 2017 05:37 PM Will Duram is a buffoon and living in the 1950s. The arch needs to reflect the NEW Reno, high tech, modern city that it is
becoming.
Dec 07 2017 05:26 PM Save the neon!!!
Dec 07 2017 05:26 PM Keep it the same. It's our tradition
Dec 07 2017 05:06 PM Keep the neon. LEDs will never give that feeling you get with neon.
Dec 07 2017 04:37 PM KEEP THE REAL NEON. Do NOT replace with led or anything else. If you cant keep it correct then you might as well
trash the entire thing. NEON. Neon is correct. LED is garbage.
Dec 07 2017 04:26 PM No
Dec 07 2017 04:21 PM Please do not remove the neon lights.
Dec 07 2017 04:16 PM Keep the same
Dec 07 2017 04:02 PM Keep the history of the city. Help in other areas, not changing the best part of the city.
Dec 07 2017 03:52 PM Please keep the authenticity of Neon lights. As a visitor this is what I come to see.... you will ruin the sign with LED. Reno
is all about the historic experience and neon epitomises that.
Dec 07 2017 03:38 PM I love the sign just as it is.

Reno Arch Refresh Survey Comments - 12-11-17
Dec 07 2017 03:26 PM Do not spend funds on this project. Its unnecessay and wasteful when there are more pressing matters.
Dec 07 2017 03:17 PM I want some neon on the sign. I think it is emblematic of the gaming industry and out state and city history.
Dec 07 2017 03:14 PM Whole new design is needed. So many artist in the area and what you can do with lighting.
Dec 07 2017 03:12 PM Keep the classic, timeless look of neon. No need to update what already looks great. Focus on the other decaying
aspects of the once great Downtown Reno.
Dec 07 2017 03:04 PM Change it to just The Biggest Little City. Short and sweet.
Dec 07 2017 03:00 PM Reno is awesome
Dec 07 2017 02:59 PM Please dont change the arch. It is beatuiful now
Dec 07 2017 02:56 PM Please keep this historic piece as is. It is so iconic as it already looks.
Dec 07 2017 02:42 PM Battle Born!
Dec 07 2017 02:11 PM LED (instead of neon) is energy efficient and would last far longer than any other form of artificial lighting. It's time to
upgrade.
Dec 07 2017 02:03 PM No need for changes. Repair & Restore. Authenticity is a currency all its own.
Dec 07 2017 01:58 PM Please just leave some originality to Reno,. Not everything is better with so-called upgrades and the Reno Arch is one.
Leave it be.
Dec 07 2017 01:51 PM Silver and blue!!!
Dec 07 2017 01:46 PM Keep the original!!!
Dec 07 2017 01:40 PM Do not change the look!!!!!
Dec 07 2017 01:39 PM Keep this historic sign AS-IS!!!
Dec 07 2017 01:15 PM I just think the idea to remove the neon is a really bad idea. Just get rid of the sign if removing the neon is even on the
table.
Dec 07 2017 12:19 PM The current font of the word "Reno" is atrocious. It looks like something from the stage set of a 1960s game show.
Maybe update it or, better yet, have a rectangular matrix of LEDs that can be turned on or off to change not only the color
but also the font.
Dec 07 2017 12:13 PM The arch is an icon for the city of Reno. As such it should be preserved as close to the original as possible. It is a piece of
Reno history
Dec 07 2017 12:13 PM
I think finding a way to balance the old logo with new elements that reflect the University town with modern twists is key.
Ditching the Neon helps ditch the casino only town, reflecting the University of Nevada colors with the updated legs
(brushed steel or aluminum) would be a great landmark to bridge to. Color changing lights would be awesome for all the
events and causes. If it all remains the same I wouldn't be heartbroken, but I think it's a great opportunity for a refresh and
give Reno a more modern look instead of a relic of the old gambling Mecca.
Dec 07 2017 12:07 PM No.
Dec 07 2017 11:39 AM Please dont replace the neon with LED lights! Neon is so iconic and cool.
Dec 07 2017 11:37 AM don't change any wording on the arch
Dec 07 2017 11:34 AM I want to keep the main sign Neon. The rest of the lights can be LEDs
Dec 07 2017 11:30 AM Keep the neon! It is historical and awesome.
Dec 07 2017 11:26 AM No
Dec 07 2017 11:23 AM KEEP THE NEON! This sign is a huge part of why I go to Reno every year to vacation & gamble. I LOVE the neon sign. I
will be very very disappointed if the neon goes away. This will put a damper on my tradition of going to Reno. AFTER
ALL, RENO=NEON!
Dec 07 2017 11:18 AM No
Dec 07 2017 11:12 AM No
Dec 07 2017 11:11 AM Leave the Reno arch as is!
Dec 07 2017 11:07 AM
Let's preserve the historic heritage of our Reno Arch! If there are services to be made to keep it working efficiently, do
that for sure. However, I think all of this money could be better spent on sprucing up our city. For example, fix potholes!
Give a bus ticket to someone stranded here that doesn't have a way to get home! Our sign is perfect just the way it is!
Dec 07 2017 11:01 AM Change the light bulbs to LED tech, but DO NOT use LED for the RENO lettering. Neon is better.
Dec 07 2017 10:51 AM Keep the neon lights for sure!!!!
Dec 07 2017 10:43 AM LED lights are awful. Look at the Felix sign in Southern California. It's RUINED. Keep the Neon!
Dec 07 2017 10:41 AM I wish Reno would stop trying to change everything that makes it great. If we continue to try and become Portland or SF,
well lose everything that makes Reno unique and perfect as is.
Dec 07 2017 10:38 AM Leave it a lone looks perfect now
Dec 07 2017 10:13 AM Neon is a must! It's iconic, classic, and true to our history!
Dec 07 2017 10:09 AM Please, please, please don't take away the neon from the Arch! The color changing LEDs would not match the
atmosphere and feel of Virginia St. at all. Sometimes newer is not always better.
Dec 07 2017 10:06 AM There is a certain charm to neon that can not be achieved through other means. To change such an icon neon sign would
be a serious bummer.
Dec 07 2017 09:53 AM At the very least, keep the Neon please!
Dec 07 2017 09:50 AM Have the legs go straight up. As the sign currently sits, it provides chairs for the homeless.
Dec 07 2017 09:45 AM No
Dec 07 2017 09:34 AM Stop trying to change things "up." Keep Reno, RENO. More and more it is becoming California with all the stupidity that
encompasses. Stop the building. Stop putting things like stupid "whale art" up and have us pay for it. OMG, where is the
common sense? Values? Morals?
Disgusted

Reno Arch Refresh Survey Comments - 12-11-17
Dec 07 2017 09:26 AM The arch should have a new design to replace the existing 30 year old one
Dec 07 2017 09:20 AM Leave it alone and do something more productive with the money
Dec 07 2017 09:07 AM Keep the NEON. Have the bottom as LED changable
Dec 07 2017 09:06 AM LED is the current state of the art and should save city money on electricity as well.
Dec 07 2017 09:05 AM The sign is an icon. While it may need a bit of maintenance, I don't feel it needs to be changed.
Dec 07 2017 09:02 AM Please don't lose the character of actual neon on this iconic sign.
Dec 07 2017 09:00 AM I was born and raised in Reno, that sign describes all my memories I have from there now that I don't live there anymore.
I would hate to see it changed
Dec 07 2017 08:57 AM
you've already changed it once let it be and just save the money your going to put into the sign and just do maintenance.
Dec 07 2017 08:52 AM Instead of worrying about this, how about the city finally fund the permanent ice rink that was supposed to be built with a
canopy by the river next to the Cal-Neva?
Dec 07 2017 08:50 AM Neon is a part of Reno history, dont change it please
Dec 07 2017 08:46 AM Keep it as is
Dec 07 2017 08:36 AM This is my additional comment.
Dec 07 2017 08:34 AM My family has grown up around Reno and I've lived here my entire life.. there's a real history with our Arch. It's what we're
known for. The biggset little city in the world! Let's keep the history true. Neon is a cornerstone of the Arch lights. Led
might be cheaper and new age but it's not real. Neon is better
Dec 07 2017 08:28 AM Keep Reno alive
Dec 07 2017 08:25 AM Please do not change too much and hold true to Renos spirit. This sign means home to me and Reno will be going
through major changes in the next 10 years from expansion of our awesome city. It would be nice to keep things around
that remind us of what it was like back then. I would hate to only be able to see this sign in short clips of Reno 911
reruns and think, awww I miss that sign, remember when it was cool?

Thank you for listening.
Dec 07 2017 08:21 AM Please keep the Neon!!
Dec 07 2017 08:21 AM I really think we should leave the neon on the Reno sign. I love neon & it it so tied to Reno's history & everybody has LED
now. Let's choose to stand out & be different.
Dec 07 2017 08:18 AM Keep it as it is now, please! Its a piece of history!!
Dec 07 2017 08:14 AM If it's not broken don't fix it applies here. Leave the arch alone, waste money on another project.
Dec 07 2017 08:10 AM Neon lights are part of Reno's history. Please do not change the lighting on the arch.
Dec 07 2017 08:08 AM Keep it traditional! Thats History! History of our town needs to be preserved!
Dec 07 2017 08:07 AM I like it just the way it is. Please dont give up the neon.
Dec 07 2017 07:58 AM Sign looks great. If aint broke, dont fix it
Dec 07 2017 07:58 AM I like the idea floating by some to move this Arch to a new designated area and have a call for artist for a 21st century
redesign but I think neon and biggest little city should be an included requirements.
Dec 07 2017 07:55 AM Dont change it, just restore it.
Dec 07 2017 07:49 AM Tradition!
Dec 07 2017 07:46 AM Keep the sign as is.
Dec 07 2017 07:43 AM It's a fabulous sign! Thanks for keeping it up and running.
Dec 07 2017 07:42 AM keep the neon!!!!!
Dec 07 2017 07:42 AM Preserve your legacy!
Dec 07 2017 07:38 AM Just fine the way it is, no changes necessary
Dec 07 2017 07:29 AM I refuse to support this!! You so called leaders of Reno are Heartless People!! What about the homeless problem! Thats
more important than the Arch!!!! It works fine and always has!! Waste waste waste! Thats all you are good for!! I am
ashamed to call reno my home!! And I grew up here!!
Dec 07 2017 07:23 AM The arch is amazing as is. I like the idea of getting rid of the gold, but keep the neon. The neon makes the sign.
Dec 07 2017 07:22 AM Thank you for the opportunity to comment. I think that is very forward thinking.
Dec 07 2017 07:19 AM Stay true to our roots
Dec 07 2017 07:14 AM Neon is Nevada! Why spend $10 in China when we can spend $20 locally? Home is Nevada!!!
Dec 07 2017 07:13 AM Why are we wasting tax payers money on ridiculous stuff like this?
Dec 07 2017 07:05 AM XXXX her right in the XXXX.
Dec 07 2017 06:57 AM Keep the Neon
Dec 07 2017 06:44 AM Don't change it please!!!
Dec 07 2017 06:42 AM I love the blue because its the color of our flag, UNR etc but the sign is great as is it. Why fix whats not broken. Neon for
sure. LED is to bright. You couldnt look at it at night.
Dec 07 2017 06:40 AM We were there for Hot August Nights 2017 and saw it in person. It absolutely amazing just as it is and the history and awe
of it should be left as is PLEASE!
Dec 07 2017 06:28 AM Leave it as is. That is the symbol for Reno the whole world knows. Changing it would be terrible. Some change is good,
not ALL change is good.
Dec 07 2017 06:26 AM Just clean reno not the sign
Dec 07 2017 06:17 AM Unwise to change the iconic.
Dec 07 2017 06:07 AM Reno is going through a cultural shift. It's time for our most notable feature and landmark to reflect that.
Dec 07 2017 06:02 AM Please keep it original! It's an icon!
Dec 07 2017 05:59 AM WOLFPACK, you have to incorporate the University.
Dec 07 2017 05:59 AM Don't change it!

Reno Arch Refresh Survey Comments - 12-11-17
Dec 07 2017 05:56 AM I really like the look and history of neon in reno both in the arch and in several other legacy signs in the area and on 4th
street. To loose those completely is akin to loosing or ignoring our cultural heritage.
Dec 07 2017 05:55 AM Keep the Neon! Please! NO LEDS! An LED change would cause the sign to lose all of its charm and appeal.
Dec 07 2017 05:54 AM LED lights are blinding. They'd be a safety hazard to drivers.
Dec 07 2017 05:40 AM Keep the neon tradition alive. Avoid another Mapes mistake. Preserve Reno history!
Dec 07 2017 05:06 AM Please leave the lights neon.
Dec 07 2017 03:30 AM Reno is known for its neon casino lights - please keep the neon!!
Dec 07 2017 03:15 AM It's an icon for tourists like me (and my family). I understand changing it for energy-saving reasons, but to change the
traditional image we see... that'd be heartbreaking.
Dec 07 2017 02:36 AM Keep the original sign.
Dec 07 2017 02:34 AM
This city is iconic, and the neon represents when it came of age. It's nostalgic and makes you feel like you are entering
old school Reno. If you replace it with LED it will look like any other sign in any random city. Please keep the neon!!
Dec 07 2017 02:32 AM If it ain't broke don't fix it!
Dec 07 2017 02:24 AM
I honestly want to keep the arch as original as possible. It's a piece of our heritage and it's something that makes so many
Reno natives proud. I understand some people want color changing lights and whatnot but leave that up to the casinos.
They have more than enough lights to light up our sky. Leave our arch as original as possible!!!!
Dec 07 2017 01:39 AM Neon is now!!
Dec 07 2017 01:02 AM this is part of OG Reno!!!!!
Dec 07 2017 12:32 AM If it isnt broken, dont fix it! Keep the iconic RENO sign
Dec 07 2017 12:02 AM Keep your uniqueness!
Dec 07 2017 12:01 AM Original is good
Dec 06 2017 11:58 PM The city is trying to hard to move away from the history that built Reno
Dec 06 2017 11:56 PM Thank you for soliciting public input! Please keep the neon.
Dec 06 2017 11:49 PM Stop wasting money
Dec 06 2017 11:29 PM I love neon lights. Keep it please.
Dec 06 2017 11:25 PM You can't get rid of something that is so famous
Dec 06 2017 11:16 PM As a resident of Reno for the past five and a half years, Ive come to know and enjoy the appearance of the Reno arch as
it is.
I dont feel that making any changes to the downtown arch will have any effect worth the amount estimated, and it is
unclear to me why the changes would be made in the first place.
I strongly disagree that any money should be spent on the arch beyond maintaining its current form.
Please feel free to contact me at XXXXX
Thanks for reading,
Dec 06 2017 11:13 PM The sign is an icon and should be kept in the original style.
Dec 06 2017 11:07 PM None
Dec 06 2017 10:36 PM I like it just the way it is. Why mess with perfection.
Dec 06 2017 10:26 PM Please consider the colors used and make them accurate shades.. red is traditional Reno, Nevada blue for UNR days
and law enforcement, pink and purple are cancer causes but.. orange?
Dec 06 2017 10:23 PM Leave the arch the way it is. Whoever comes up with these ideas wants to change downtown into some sort of California
knock-off. Enough is enough, keep the history and stop letting hipsters and Californians overrun our city.
Dec 06 2017 10:18 PM Keep it neon!
Dec 06 2017 10:12 PM More Neon. Recreate the neon rainbow across the train tracks.
Dec 06 2017 10:10 PM Leave it how it is.
Dec 06 2017 10:07 PM The Arch is a part of Reno history. Update it slightly, but for the most part keep it as-is.
Dec 06 2017 10:00 PM Keep the neon!
Dec 06 2017 09:59 PM Viva La Neon!!!!!!!
Dec 06 2017 09:59 PM Save Neon. Restore our legacy.
Dec 06 2017 09:55 PM None
Dec 06 2017 09:52 PM No
Dec 06 2017 09:46 PM I think there are some elements of downtown that should remain "nostalgic." I'm all for advances in technology, but when
it completely changes the charm and attraction of a monumental piece, then we don't need it.
Dec 06 2017 09:40 PM No
Dec 06 2017 09:40 PM Neon is better than LED. Some Neon needs to remain.
Dec 06 2017 09:39 PM none
Dec 06 2017 09:38 PM None
Dec 06 2017 09:37 PM Leave it the way it is please.
Dec 06 2017 09:36 PM Thats the problem youre trying to fix something that is not broken leave it alone theyre ruining Vegas because theyre

Dec 06 2017 09:34 PM Keep some of our memories the way they are now, no need change what is already beautiful
Dec 06 2017 09:34 PM If its not broken dont fix it!

Dec 06 2017 09:16 PM We love the old neon! Reno has some of the absolute best neon in the world, hopefully there are plans to save the old
motel signs and such as well! Cheers
Dec 06 2017 09:12 PM The arch, as it is, is a staple of Reno, and of downtown. Leave it the way it is and put that money somewhere else that it
can do more good.
Dec 06 2017 09:05 PM Neon!!!!!
Dec 06 2017 08:53 PM Maintain the original integrity of this landmark tourist attraction.
Dec 06 2017 08:48 PM Please change the Arch.
Dec 06 2017 08:43 PM why change an icon? Ive lived here all my life and it is what it is.. DONT CHANGE IT!!
Dec 06 2017 08:30 PM It won't be the same if you change it. It ain't broke so DON'T fix it......
Dec 06 2017 08:26 PM Leave a good thing be! Not everything needs to be changed!!!!
Dec 06 2017 08:23 PM neon is best
Dec 06 2017 08:22 PM None of the above. The current arch is an eye sore fit for a cheesy 80s parade. Move it to west forth street and build a
modern one.
Dec 06 2017 08:20 PM None
Dec 06 2017 08:20 PM Make it nice!
Dec 06 2017 08:20 PM Lets keep our NEON
Dec 06 2017 08:17 PM Neon is part of the history. Please leave it be.
Dec 06 2017 08:16 PM More neon, save the neon!
Dec 06 2017 08:15 PM DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT THE SIGN
Dec 06 2017 08:11 PM Keep the lights in neon.
Dec 06 2017 08:08 PM Neon is gorgeous, representative of Reno, and ought to be kept under all circumstances!
Dec 06 2017 08:08 PM Keep the Neon!!!
Dec 06 2017 08:03 PM Change the font of the letters of Reno, maybe the like the font of the 60s-70s style
Dec 06 2017 08:01 PM No
Dec 06 2017 07:58 PM Bring back the original arch. Don't waste money on dead technology. We are the city that has TESLA and we are
actually talking about keeping lighting technology from the early 20th century?
Dec 06 2017 07:57 PM Reno is becoming more associated with the university. Would like to see some way nevada can be honored or
represented on the arch- special occasions.
Dec 06 2017 07:46 PM Keep it neon...that is what makes it so special.
Dec 06 2017 07:46 PM I think the Reno sign should be blue and silver. Blue is the color of the state flag! And it helps that University of Nevada's
colors are Blue and silver!! ?? Go Pack!
Dec 06 2017 07:46 PM As a fourth generation Northern Nevadan, I would hate to see the arch replaced wth LED. Think of how many old neon
signs from the past that have been replaced and destroyed, that we now want back? I am a millennial and am all for
keeping the downtown history intact, which includes a working neon arch!
Dec 06 2017 07:45 PM I love the sign as it is and would love to see it cleaned up but kept intact with the current colors and the neon.
Dec 06 2017 07:43 PM This sign is an icon and a symbol of so much personal history. Leave it alone!
Dec 06 2017 07:40 PM It doesn't need to be changed...just polished to look new :-)
Dec 06 2017 07:33 PM Go Wolfpack!
Dec 06 2017 07:31 PM Why change it? Maybe use that money to put more effort into cleaning up downtown. The way it is now, it's no surprise
that locals avoid going down there. It's a disgrace.
Dec 06 2017 07:31 PM Leave it alone. Its history and its iconic

Please preserve what makes Reno iconic. The old style is quintessential to Reno's history and legacy. Small changes
around town are expected but the sign is the root of the culture that is Downtown Reno. Let it stay beautiful the way it is.
Dec 06 2017 07:14 PM Keep it original! Should be a historical landmark!
Dec 06 2017 07:11 PM Keep it original!
Dec 06 2017 07:10 PM Don't destroy the amazing history of this sign! Save the Neon!!! Too many amazing neon signs have already been lost or
destroyed- be stewards and save the sign just as it is!
Dec 06 2017 07:06 PM Sometimes nostalgia has the most beauty. The most "draw", the best memories. Not every thing old has to be "new
again". Spent nearly 20 years in northern Nevada (the great half of the state) and it will forever be my "HOME". I prefer
the original sign with all its perfect nostalgia.
-thank you for asking
Dec 06 2017 07:05 PM Nevada is losing too much of its history. Look at the terrible loss of so many beautiful historic things in Las Vegas. Let's
keep history alive in Reno at least!
Dec 06 2017 07:01 PM Refurbish yes, but there's no reason to kill this historic sign...
Dec 06 2017 07:00 PM Please preserve the history and tradition with what little left that we have here in Reno. Downtown has become a past
memory. Keep and restore is better.
Dec 06 2017 07:00 PM Keep the NEON! No LED!
Dec 06 2017 06:58 PM Neon is a very nice component, and though LED lights offer more options, I think they make for a sign that won't look as
timeless.
Dec 06 2017 06:47 PM It is a part of the history of Reno. Leave it as is. Don't change anything
Dec 06 2017 06:44 PM No neon! This is 2017.
Dec 06 2017 06:42 PM Stop trying to go "above and beyond" and just keep it simple and stick to tradition. We love our biggest little city the way
it. Thank you!
Dec 06 2017 06:42 PM Add more neon!

Neon is what makes the sign cool, if it's made of LEDs it will be like every other shop and restaurant sign in the world.
Dec 06 2017 06:25 PM LED is proving to cause more light pollution than originally thought.
Dec 06 2017 06:25 PM Just leave it alone....
Dec 06 2017 06:20 PM Dont fix it if its not broken. Its an icon...dont be New Coke. We all know how that ended.
Dec 06 2017 06:19 PM Please don't change a characteristic of Reno that works!
Dec 06 2017 06:17 PM Please do not get rid of the neon lights. Neon is, in itself, an artform and such a wonderful part of Renos history. LED
lights are cold and boring, even when they change colors. Preserve Renos history!!
Dec 06 2017 06:16 PM Please leave the sign as it is. Clean it if need be but it is great the way it is and doesnt need to be change. We need to
save something of older reno
Dec 06 2017 06:16 PM Don't change the sign. It is a historical landmark.

Dec 06 2017 06:14 PM Keep Reno Reno!

Dec 06 2017 06:09 PM Please don't make it ugly.
Dec 06 2017 06:09 PM Leave well enough alone.
Dec 06 2017 05:44 PM Keep the neon!
Dec 06 2017 05:40 PM That sign is a historic landmark. Generations of visitors have seen it. We took our kids to it, and still go see it every time
we are there. It's a piece of history that should remain as it is for future generations to enjoy. Please do not replace it
with modern LED, it would just lose it's charm and take something away from the experience
Dec 06 2017 05:37 PM Keep a slice of the past!
Dec 06 2017 05:37 PM Don't fix it, its not broke

Dec 06 2017 05:12 PM Please leave the NEON. It's a reminder of all the history in Reno. Don't change it!!!

Dec 06 2017 03:40 PM Need to preserve the neon. It is a trademark of Reno
Dec 06 2017 03:35 PM Don't mess with a good thing!! Plus it's nice to keep some tradition in the town.

Dec 06 2017 03:28 PM Reno has a long time legacy of neon. Please don't take the neon out.
Dec 06 2017 03:26 PM No
Dec 06 2017 03:23 PM
Keep the neon lettering. Neon signs are a part of the history of Virginia Street and should remain as part of the arch.
Dec 06 2017 03:18 PM I love the neon sign, but I understand LED is Probably a bit more efficient. As long as you dont tear down the sign you
can change the lights without any difficulty for me :)
Dec 06 2017 03:05 PM seems like an epic waste of money and time to change the iconic sign. Reno has a ton of other problems that could use
the cash and focus.
Dec 06 2017 03:03 PM Restore the sign to what it is now, not some flashy-blinky crap.
Dec 06 2017 03:01 PM I think the color changes will make it stand out better

Dec 06 2017 02:55 PM The one time I truly got to visit Reno in my own, I liked it.
Dec 06 2017 02:55 PM I am always traveling in search of classic signs, and neon is a favorite. Please don't update your beautiful neon, I haven't
had a chance to visit yet!
Dec 06 2017 02:54 PM Fix the real problems first, like the homeless and drug problems downtown. That would help with more people wanting to
visit and locals going downtown. Now it's just scary sometimes. The sign is great, the rest of down town is dirty. The
animals have a better shelter than our homeless and vets!
Dec 06 2017 02:38 PM Quit trying to change things. There are more important things to focus on. Crime, homeless, cost of living.
Dec 06 2017 02:32 PM Leave RENO in NEON. Neon has a soul, LEDs do not.
Dec 06 2017 02:29 PM This neon is historic and beautiful! I understand it needs some TLC, but it should be done in the name of preservation. To
modernize it and change it to LED lighting would ruin this iconic sign.
Dec 06 2017 02:16 PM Neon's integral to the casino experience. LED replacements that vary in color for the words is fine, as those are electric
lights anyways. The Neon pays homage to Reno's casino history.
Dec 06 2017 02:15 PM Tradition
Dec 06 2017 02:14 PM You want to be all fancy and 21st century then build another sign but leave the city's history alone. This isn't Vegas and

Dec 06 2017 02:00 PM It's perfect the way it is. Not everything has to be changed. Keep it!
Dec 06 2017 01:59 PM Ya, dont change a god damn thing. The place is perfect for a reason and that reason is because its tacky. In the most
wonderful and enchanting of ways. Please, dont do what the rest of the world does by trying to reinvent the wheel. Some
things are better left alone.
Dec 06 2017 01:56 PM The silver supports should be silver... because Nevada is the silver state. The royal blue is better because red means
"stop" to me. Blue seems more pleasing and welcoming to me. Just my take, of course. Also LED is just fine... will last
longer and be cheaper to operate. Thanks for doing this!
Dec 06 2017 01:53 PM
Stop "changing" shit that is fine to begin with. Spruce things up. Re-paint, fix ect ect. This "change" isn't for the better.
Don't waste money. Fix issues dont create more that potentially end up more costly. Happy holidays! ??
Dec 06 2017 01:52 PM The LED lights the city is considering is much too bright (depending on the number of clustered bulbs, bordering on
obnoxious due to its intensity), very harsh and cold, and very hard on the eyes at night. They are very BRIGHT. Plus, it
would take away from the original beauty and familiarity of the beloved RENO sign. Please, keep the NEON! Neon is what
made Reno stand out! Thank you! ~ Michele L. V.
Dec 06 2017 01:48 PM PLEASE keep the neon!!!
Dec 06 2017 01:42 PM The colors you show for color changing light are not attractive or engaging. They cannot compare to the ambient glow or
soft colors of neon light!
Dec 06 2017 01:42 PM Keep the historic integrity.
Dec 06 2017 01:40 PM Neon signs are part of Reno's cultural and visual heritage--it should be valued and preserved!
Dec 06 2017 01:40 PM I really dont think you should change such a historical thing. If anything just touch it up and repaint the current colors.
Putting neon would be too modern
Dec 06 2017 01:38 PM Real neon always looks better than LEDs
Dec 06 2017 01:37 PM No
Dec 06 2017 01:36 PM Pleeeease just keep this amazing classic sign as it is. Restore it as necessary but please do not change it!
Dec 06 2017 01:36 PM Please keep the arch the way it is. it is iconic and traditional.
Dec 06 2017 01:35 PM Please don't change it too much! Also please please please keep the neon!!!
Dec 06 2017 01:35 PM Leave it the way it is.
If you must change something change the leg colors, the gold is out of place, IMO.
Dec 06 2017 01:34 PM I feel it is very important to keep the neon as part of the sign. Not only dies neon have a more classic and classier image,
but it is also keeping part of Reno's vintage charm and history intact.
Dec 06 2017 01:29 PM The arch is iconic and should be kept much as it is.
Dec 06 2017 01:25 PM Keep the original. You can not change an ICON.
Dec 06 2017 01:22 PM LED?? are you guys freakin' crazy??
Dec 06 2017 01:21 PM why spend extra money on a perfectly good sign that has been iconic to Reno's history? would prefer to see the dollars

Dec 06 2017 12:36 PM I love the idea of converting from neon to LEDs, however, we don't need to have color changing lights, especially if it adds
much to the bottom line.
Dec 06 2017 12:34 PM The Reno arch is iconic and should be restored rather than remade.
Dec 06 2017 12:34 PM "If it isn't broken, Then dont fix it!"

Dec 06 2017 12:33 PM Stop spending ridiculous amounts of city money for silly stuff. In addition much change is already going on here, but some
things should remain preserved. Like the arch.
Dec 06 2017 12:29 PM I understand updating and preserving the sign, but nothing on it needs to be changed. It is a Reno icon and should stay
that way. Also, what an unnecessary way to spend money.

Dec 06 2017 12:26 PM Stop screwing with/destroying the historical monuments of Reno!!! Preserve it rather than pervert it!
Dec 06 2017 12:23 PM KEEP THE NEON! It's vintage and priceless!
Dec 06 2017 12:18 PM Neon glassblowing is a dying art, and it's history along with the legendary Reno arch should be preserved. I do like the
idea of updating the "Biggest Little City " lettering to changeable LED. Old school with a modern flair, sounds like a great
compromise!
Dec 06 2017 12:06 PM Please retain the original beauty of the Reno icon. Please, please do not replace the neon tubes as the art form is truly a
cherished and respected embodiment of Nevadas cultural history.
Dec 06 2017 12:05 PM From the perspective of a designer, these suggestions are silly and add little value to the design of the arch.

Having the ability to change colors using LED takes away the traditional classic look and takes away the brand
consistency by making the colors change. Stick to a single color scheme and use materials that are contextually tied to
the history of Reno. Neon for life!
Dec 06 2017 12:04 PM Leave the iconic neon alone. Making it look like a cheap mall display diminishes the landmark and negates its connection
to the states history.
Dec 06 2017 11:53 AM I think switching to LED lighting is a great idea. Saves money, energy and overall looks better.
Dec 06 2017 11:46 AM It's iconic and classic, I hope the existing ideas are kept! No need to change. :)
Dec 06 2017 11:46 AM Change is not always good. Please don't take the history away and stop killing History and Memories.
Dec 06 2017 11:44 AM
do the essential repairs...technical, electrical, paint. KEEP THE ORIGINAL VISUAL. This sign is a MAJOR memory, and
often referenced in travel/cultural conversations, from my visit as a seven-year-old in 1957...and again last summer. It is
THE primary reason I many others want to visit Reno. I am an architectural historian and architectural tour guide. Please
SO NOT MESS WITH THIS ICONIC PIECE OF AMERICAN HISTORY, TECHNOLOGY and DESIGN
Dec 06 2017 11:38 AM Neon is a dying art, please keep the neon in the sign!
Dec 06 2017 11:24 AM Keep our neon alive!
Dec 06 2017 11:11 AM Talk to neon historian, preservationist before you do anything crazy like throw away the past.

passion for savings The disappearing neon past. Please don't let your well-known sister city be the only town that cares
about its neon past.
Thank you Jim Sawyer Hermiston Oregon
Dec 06 2017 11:05 AM Neon is an iconic part of Renos identity and retains its individuality. Without neon it will become just another city with led
lights, nothing special. It will lose much of its character and history
Dec 06 2017 11:04 AM Exposed neon is an important part of Nevadas cultural heritage. As a native of Las Vegas, I support retaining the neon.
Thank you!

Dec 06 2017 10:33 AM I don't live in Reno so in my opinion it should b voted on by Reno residents. If it concurs cost that could b used for
something better ~ then I would say not to spend the $$ on this project.
Dec 06 2017 10:24 AM Leave it be! It's a waste of money and not ok to mess with our symbolism, it's bad enough the original Reno sign gets no

Dec 06 2017 09:17 AM Why does everyone want to erase their history? Why can't you leave things alone?
Dec 06 2017 09:17 AM I think the original Reno should be kept in traditional neon light, but the rest of the sign should be changed to color
changeable LED for different colors and energy savings. Combine the old and new for a fresh new look!

Dec 06 2017 08:50 AM I think Reno is known for its Neon. Even though LED is the thing everyone is doing, Id prefer that Reno keep its
traditional neon!
Dec 06 2017 08:49 AM The changes are welcome in my opinion if it provides cost savings in energy to power the sign and does not contribute
anymore heavily to the light pollution that led lights might cause
Dec 06 2017 08:49 AM Neon is part of the heritage of Nevada. It is a beautiful representation of the hospitality of the great state. Please do not
change it.
Dec 06 2017 08:48 AM Neon is a significant design element with a vast historical significance in Reno. Gold is historically associated with wealth
and people gamble to win money. Please keep real glass tubes with real neon on the sign. Authenticity is so hot right
now.
Dec 06 2017 08:40 AM Neon has such a strong legacy in Reno and Nevada that should be preserved to go with the history of Nevada.

Neon lights are amazing, especially original. LED lights are blaring and obnoxious. Thank you for offering this survey.
Dec 06 2017 08:13 AM PLEASE do not replace the neon with LED or any other type of light. The neon itself is what makes the sign so special.
Please keep the neon.
Dec 06 2017 08:12 AM This is an icon with lots of history. Why change it? I say keep it as is.
Dec 06 2017 08:11 AM
Please keep the neon as it is! This is a highly significant, vintage post card scene of signage. It is vital to not only Reno
but Nevada's bright history with neon signage.

Changing it to LED would be a big step backwards, not to mention tacky and disrespectful towards history and the arch.

Please keep the neon!

Reno Arch Refresh Survey Comments - 12-11-17
Dec 06 2017 08:01 AM Every other City is now re-discovering neon. Why would you waste money to fall behind the times? This is like trading in a
pristine 65 Mustang on an 96 Pontiac Grand Am because you want to look more modern.
Dec 06 2017 07:59 AM Is someone related to a contractor they're trying to throw some money to?
Dec 06 2017 07:56 AM We should move towards a more sustainable icon. What is the cost of keeping neon over moving to LED or the like, and
vice versa. It's an icon but can we improve it while maintaining the nostalgia?
Dec 06 2017 07:54 AM Save the NEON. LED is modern, but Reno has a historical connection to NEON so it should remain.
Dec 06 2017 07:49 AM Keep the traditional neon!!
Dec 06 2017 07:48 AM Spend the money on fixing pot holes in roads!!
Dec 06 2017 07:47 AM Changing the lights would make it to dull, Love the way it is!!
Dec 06 2017 07:41 AM Our city has changed so much I hate it! Lets keep what we have left the same PLEASE
Dec 06 2017 07:36 AM People like the sign, it's a classic and fun symbol of Reno. Consider leaving it alone, aside from maintenance, and
focusing on more pertinent issues.
Dec 06 2017 07:34 AM Keep it the way or is
Dec 06 2017 07:32 AM Replacing the neon is a bad idea. People love the look and nostalgia of it. Updating it to modern technology would be
counterproductive in drawing tourists. It would be like if a town that was well known for its historic steam engine attraction
decided to convert the steam engine to a modern electric powered motor and got rid of the conductor in favor of a self-
driving train. Sure it's modern technology and more energy efficient, but by making those changes you'd suddenly have
an attraction that people will instantly not care about any more. It will render your cool piece of vintage history obsolete in
the eyes of potential tourists.

Dec 06 2017 07:29 AM Keep what we have!
Dec 06 2017 07:28 AM If it aint broken dont fix it, let the city have its history
Dec 06 2017 07:19 AM Thanks for giving us some input! Good luck to all the craftsman and refurbishers! And thanks for the hard work of the
planners and project managers!! Merry Christmas!
Dec 06 2017 07:07 AM Keep the neons. We as reno have changed so much that i feel we should leave the neons alone to represent our old
times. Everyone uses LED let us stick to our neons.
Dec 06 2017 07:05 AM no
Dec 06 2017 07:01 AM Not all change is good.
Thank you for considering my opinion.
Dec 06 2017 07:00 AM if something is really good, its not necessary to change it.
Dec 06 2017 07:00 AM I think the sign is iconic, and should be kept as original as possible. It's familiar, and nice as is.
Dec 06 2017 06:56 AM
When we made our film about neon, "The Neon Struggle" we specifically traveled to Reno to spend two evenings filming -
not just the sign - but some of the best neon motel signs in the country. Please keep the neon alive and glowing!
Dec 06 2017 06:50 AM Please preserve neon!
Dec 06 2017 06:49 AM This is an iconic sign known across the US & possibly further. This sign is how outsiders identify reno, changing it would
be detrimental, sad, & there is no reason for it. Please keep the Reno arch as it is! It is perfect now & does not need to be
changed. If it isnt broke dont fix it....
Dec 06 2017 06:45 AM Keep the original!
Dec 06 2017 06:38 AM Please, for the love of God, DO NOT change this classic and historic sign! I'm part of a photography group that has
traveled all over this country, especially to Reno, just take photograph the iconic neon. LED looks cheap and horrible.
There's already been so many unfortunate changes to America's great neon signage. Please don't let this fall into that
group. Most visitors want to see it the was it's been, not ruined or changed. This sigh needs no modern updates. Thank
you
Dec 06 2017 06:36 AM don't remove the neon!
Dec 06 2017 06:35 AM I have lived here all my life, and I love this place. Thank you for letting me have my say about the Reno Arch.
Dec 06 2017 06:29 AM No
Dec 06 2017 06:25 AM Things become iconic because they stand the test of time and dont change. Please keep the neon burning bright so
future generations can see the same beautiful sign their parents and grandparents saw.
Dec 06 2017 06:11 AM KEEP AS IT IS NOW
Dec 06 2017 06:07 AM Keep the Neon!!
Dec 06 2017 06:06 AM Prefer to keep the arch as is. It is iconic for the area, and should be kept as is.
Dec 06 2017 05:58 AM Your beautiful city is known for its signage and neon lights. As a photographer who primarily shoots both and who has not
yet had an opportunity to see Reno except through photographs, preserving the neon means preserving a vital piece of
your history. I hope to be able to visit by February.
Dec 06 2017 05:57 AM As stated in the article, neon has a huge history in Nevada and should be preserved! I visited The Neon Museum in Las
Vegas for a night tour and it was awesome! Please keep our history intact, be fiscally responsible and do not spend any
more money than is required to preserve the current sign!
Dec 06 2017 05:42 AM Normal maintenance is good to keep the integrity of the sign in its original form. Please please please do not change the
integrity of this landmark sign.
Dec 06 2017 05:40 AM
The sign as is is iconic! Restore it as needed but please dont change a thing. Put the money you save towards getting all
the riff raff off the sidewalks that make it feel unsafe to walk down. The sign isnt the problem.
Dec 06 2017 05:36 AM Change is good. Refresh to our Color Blue thats what Reno is Silver n Blue. Lets build on that. UNR, Reno, lets design
and update our City with our colors make it cohesive.
Dec 06 2017 05:27 AM Neon is classic. You can't dupicate it, stick with neon.
Dec 06 2017 05:27 AM If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Reno Arch Refresh Survey Comments - 12-11-17
Dec 06 2017 05:17 AM
HELLO,
I am French, and Reno, NV is in my top 5 of the best location in the U.S. of A. - near Tahoe, near the desert, the Sierras,
... and its people. I just love it, there !
I'd be extremely sad and upset to see another NV city get rid of her neons - this is part of your history, and you should
keep these up as long as you can, repair them if needed ... but not change them ! Imagine, for a second, France, Italy,
England, Germany, Spain etc. with cathedrals and churches which would have been updated at every tech advances ...
That wouldn't be beautiful and inspiring buildings, anymore, would it? Just keep this in mind ...
Dec 06 2017 05:12 AM Keep the neon. Renos history was built on neon signage and many iconic signs are gone or inoperable and in danger of
demolition. Neon has a distinctive look which LED lighting cannot replace.
Dec 06 2017 05:10 AM While some things may be improved with energy-efficient LEDs, this sign is historic and should be considered an
historical landmark. Please keep the sign as it is because history attracts more people to it. Thank you.
Dec 06 2017 05:08 AM If you wanna make a new sign leave the old one where it is just like the lake street arch, and build a new one somewhere
else
Dec 06 2017 05:05 AM Leave the sign the way it is
Dec 06 2017 05:04 AM It looks good the way it is.
Dec 06 2017 05:02 AM Reno has changed too much. Keep the Arch exactly as-is with neon.
Dec 06 2017 04:56 AM I would like to keep the iconic arch colors as is it. Just the maintenance should be good.
Dec 06 2017 04:50 AM Heritage and tradition are worth far more than an update that looks like it could be outside any shopping mall.
Dec 06 2017 04:49 AM
Keep the history of the arch. Neon is emblematic of Reno. LED & color-changeable lights would lose that vintage feeling.
Dec 06 2017 04:47 AM Keep heritage lighting and look.
Dec 06 2017 04:45 AM Neon is the History of a town!
Dec 06 2017 04:44 AM Don't change the sign. With all the new development and changes around town, it would be nice to have something that
stays the same. It's cheesy and we love it that way!
Dec 06 2017 04:43 AM Keep the neon
Dec 06 2017 04:43 AM Is Reno the biggest little city anymore? Shouldn't we look at a different catchphrase?
Dec 06 2017 04:40 AM Why do you want to change PERFECTION? Preserve the sign and don't change it.
Dec 06 2017 04:39 AM I am the Design Director for YESCO Salt Lake City. And as a 20 year veteran of designing electric signs, I understand
why there may be a move to LED illumination. But, as the sign is existing, and grandfathered into the current code, I stand
behind keeping it in its current state.
Dec 06 2017 04:35 AM Keep the NEON! It is RENO. It is Nevada. You can't improve this sign.
Dec 06 2017 04:34 AM Preserve History. Let's keep Reno as is. We are not Vegas.
Dec 06 2017 04:33 AM Leave it alone.
Dec 06 2017 04:32 AM
Vintage appeal for a vintage town. And spend the extra $ on the infrastructure that is lacking for our expansive boom
Dec 06 2017 04:30 AM The historic qualities of the neon Reno with gold metal Arch is a huge factor in the rich culture of Reno. The Arch is a
landmark of Reno; changing it would be a loss to many.
Dec 06 2017 04:06 AM There is so much change in the area that I would like to see the arch stay the same. Change, though it has its place,
personally I like the comfort of the Arch remaining the same.
Dec 06 2017 03:59 AM Keep the neon!
Dec 06 2017 03:50 AM
THIS SURVEY SHOULD ALSO BE IN SPANISH.

With so much history in Reno being pushed to the side, I think it's essential to keep the sign the same. I especially think
it's important to keep the neon. This reflects Reno's history and will eventually attract more tourists because of the sign.
Dec 06 2017 02:52 AM Thanks for the vote.
Dec 06 2017 02:41 AM This sign has been around for many years. It shows the history of Reno and I feel that it is such an important part to the
city. If you change it, its like taking away history.
Dec 06 2017 02:26 AM Since you seem to have the funds to update the arch. Why not but the extra funds into the expensive bulbs. I've lived in
Reno for over 35 years and have made numerous requests to change the blbs Gold/ Yellow in September for Childhood
Cancer. The reply I have recived from City Hall is we do honor Childhood Awarness. Well I have not seen yellow ribbons
or the city turn gold. The arch is beautiful just the way it is.
Dec 06 2017 02:20 AM Please do not remove neon
Dec 06 2017 02:04 AM Please preserve the sign as it is , its an icon and part of the citys legacy too.
Dec 06 2017 01:35 AM No
Dec 06 2017 01:33 AM no
Dec 06 2017 01:32 AM Keep the tradition and traditional
Dec 06 2017 01:06 AM The neon is classic and should be kept. Refurbishing and refreshing the sign is great but LED lights dont have the same
impact as neon.
Dec 06 2017 12:57 AM Reno holds a very special place in my heart. I do not live there currently, however it is where I grew up. It is home. Please
keep the neons, and the older feel of the sign. Modern had its place. But the neons are part of what makes downtown
what it is.
Dec 06 2017 12:54 AM Why do you feel the need to change what we have already established in our history as a city. You should be ashamed of
yourselves. Refurbish what exists. Bring it back to life. TO ITS ORIGNIAL GLORY. not this rainbow mess you think looks
cute.

This is an iconic landmark, as it is, it needs to stay the way it was originally intended. Change is not always for the best.
Dec 06 2017 12:38 AM No
Dec 06 2017 12:31 AM No
Dec 06 2017 12:30 AM I love Reno and its arch. Great memories.
Dec 06 2017 12:27 AM The solid look of the"biggest little city in the world" is the best. If you decide to replace that with LED lights or something
else, please do you best to keep them solid and not polka dots.
Dec 06 2017 12:22 AM
Please do not change the arch. It's beautiful and iconic as it is. It is important to preserve this historic piece of work! It's a
part of what makes Reno distinct, and the neon has a wonderful luminescent quality that is worth preserving. Switching to
different lights would water down the spark that Reno has, and I say this even as a recent transplant to the city. No need
to completely wash away all of Reno's character and image as a part of its "rebranding." At least keep the d**n arch.
Dec 06 2017 12:05 AM Keep the neon!
Dec 05 2017 11:57 PM CAN WE KEEP SOMETHING THAT IS ORIGINAL
Dec 05 2017 11:53 PM There are no pieces of history in Reno, as iconic and important as the Reno Arch. It needs to be maintained in its current
form.
Dec 05 2017 11:49 PM We love the arch and the logo though, so please keep it nice!
Dec 05 2017 11:49 PM The Reno arch is iconic the way it is for our city!
Dec 05 2017 11:46 PM The sign will look good with a refresh but does need to retain original neon tubing as neon is classic timeless and original
where as led just wouldn't look right
Dec 05 2017 11:46 PM Nope
Dec 05 2017 11:44 PM Keep the sign design AS IS. Please restore it.
Dec 05 2017 11:43 PM
Restoration is one thing. But completely changing history is another. Maintain the signs beauty by keeping it the way it is.
Just because its 2017, does not mean everything needs LED lights. People love and look for the original sign!
Dec 05 2017 11:43 PM Change the design of the pillars
Dec 05 2017 11:40 PM Reno is going trough enough changes, the Reno Arch is something special to native Nevadans older than 25 years
old..not everything needs a facelift, just a little preservation :)
Dec 05 2017 11:40 PM Neon. Cant we just keep this icon the same? Changing it would seem like trying to modernize Virginia City. If it aint
broken, dont fix it.
Dec 05 2017 11:36 PM Definitely need to save some of the neon. It is such a big part of our history that is disappearing. But color Changing bulbs
could be cool!
Dec 05 2017 11:31 PM Why do we keep trying to get rid of history. First it was the Mapes then the miner man from the nugget then the Virginia
bridge now the arch!!!
Dec 05 2017 11:29 PM Leave it alone.. Just clean it up, replace anything broken..
Dec 05 2017 11:24 PM Preserve the neon!
Dec 05 2017 11:23 PM I do think like the neon lights, it looks as trashy as the city is, however, I know it's a big deal to a lot of people and think it's
an incredible waste of the city's money.
Dec 05 2017 11:17 PM Please do not ruin a piece of Nevadan history!
Dec 05 2017 11:13 PM Original neon is beautiful and less jarring to the eye! And if it's cheaper, that's even better. It's a fun part of history.
Thanks for your hard work!
Dec 05 2017 11:12 PM Stop XXXXing everything up you cucks. Seriously. If it ain't broken then don't fix it.
Dec 05 2017 11:11 PM
I live in the Bay Area but have visited Reno many times. It makes me sad to think of the sign getting such a strong
modernization especially in the big letters: the striped neon version is so iconic, I don't think it's a good idea to change it.
Dec 05 2017 11:10 PM Why are we fixing something [the design] that isnt broken?
Dec 05 2017 11:10 PM Old school - keep it the same please!
Dec 05 2017 11:09 PM Dont change it please! Neon signs are slowly disappearing. Keep this classic as a landmark
Dec 05 2017 11:07 PM KEEP IT ALL ORIGINAL!! It's a little piece of history that everyone takes home on their memory. Neon is a sentimental
thing and the LED's would look tacky!!
Dec 05 2017 11:02 PM Polish it up and dont change a thing
Dec 05 2017 11:01 PM Neon lights are what the country associates las vegas with. Don't change a good thing.
Dec 05 2017 11:01 PM Keep the neon, its part of Renos/NVs history!
Dec 05 2017 10:57 PM Possibly brighten or rework the lights on the top star
Dec 05 2017 10:48 PM Preserve the neon for the "RENO" and change other lighting to LED
Dec 05 2017 10:47 PM
When the Disney cars of Radiator Springs restored their town, "they fixed their neon,"-- they did not swap it out for LED.
That would have been tacky. Keeping the neon in signature places like Reno & Vegas make time stand still, gives these
cities an element of nostalgia you can't recreate anywhere else in the world. Please keep the neon.
Dec 05 2017 10:45 PM Please do not alter the signs original design and character. If we change its character now, in ten years we will be
wishing we hadnt.
Dec 05 2017 10:44 PM We should clean it up, but keep it the same! LEDs are too much.
Dec 05 2017 10:41 PM The sign is history!! Neon is history!! Please keep the neon!!!!
Dec 05 2017 10:39 PM I like all the original work but Id be ok with updates to make the sign color changeable.
Dec 05 2017 10:37 PM While it might need some work please leave most of it alone. It is an icon people recognize and for that fact alone need
not be altered.
Dec 05 2017 10:34 PM Keep the neon!!!

Reno Arch Refresh Survey Comments - 12-11-17
Dec 05 2017 10:34 PM Compared to the horrible art that is downtown that is from burningman inspired, the arch is the best piece of art in reno,
BTW, sorry but I still prefer the last version of the arch.
Dec 05 2017 10:24 PM
I think the money to restore the sign could be better used towards humanitarian efforts in the downtown area. There are
more people that could use it now more than ever. There are going to be a lot of hungry bellys this winter. Food for
thought. Thanks for reading this far. Hope the city spends money on the community and not just image branding.
Dec 05 2017 10:22 PM you need to do something with all the homeless. and stop bringing condos in to RENO RENO NEEDS MORE CASINOS
MAKE IT LIKE THE OLD DAYS WHEN RENO WAS FUN AND HAD LOTS OF CASINOS. PS BUILD ANOTHER MAPES
HOTEL IT WAS A BAD MOVE BY THE CITY OF RENO TO GET RID OF IT.
Dec 05 2017 10:22 PM Neon lettering is timeless and this sign is so widely respected in not only Reno but the entire United States. Please keep
the neon intact and keep the history intact with it.
Dec 05 2017 10:21 PM Keep it the same
Dec 05 2017 10:19 PM
The Reno sign is an iconic piece of history and should be restored to look as close to the original as possible. lED or other
modern lights don't have nealy the warm pleasing appearance of neon, it is crucial to maintain the neon.
Dec 05 2017 10:18 PM WHY GET CHEESY AND CHEAP LOOKING????!!!! This IS NOT DISNEYLAND!!!! For goodness sakes, stop with the
tackiness!!!!!
Dec 05 2017 10:11 PM Yes --- While I have a law enforcement background and I appreciate the special occasions out of respect that the arch is
lighted in blue --- I prefer the arch glittering in WHITE light all the time except those special days ---
Dec 05 2017 10:11 PM Restoring the sign and keeping it in good working condition is important but changing the lights from neon to LED is
unacceptable.
Dec 05 2017 10:06 PM No need to change the arch
Dec 05 2017 10:02 PM Neon RULES!
Dec 05 2017 10:00 PM Neon is a strong part of the history and character of Reno. Whenever I discuss neon with people I am asked if I have
visited Reno or seen their museum. To begin to remove this from the iconic portions of the city will be to remove
something of the cities character and replace it with something that does not match.
Dec 05 2017 10:00 PM I think the neon sign should stay. Reno is a classic town, the neon light is classy, and the other lighting option, while more
expensive, is cheap looking and not worth it.
Dec 05 2017 09:59 PM Save the Neon!!! Keep it original!
Dec 05 2017 09:58 PM Keep the neon!
Dec 05 2017 09:57 PM Stop XXXXng with our historical monuments, buildings and communities. Repair and clean where needed then focus on
creating new things -- not rebranding our history. It's cheap.
Dec 05 2017 09:51 PM You have a historical monument in the Reno arch. Don't destroy what little neon is left in our history. Preserve the sign
as is for the generations to come!
Dec 05 2017 09:51 PM Please don't ruin our iconic and classic Reno Arch. Neon is a beautiful and dying art form, please don't make our sign
cheesy with the rainbow L
Dec 05 2017 09:51 PM I do believe that the neon is important to keep because of the deep history it bring with it. The lights under the arch can be
LED in the changable colors.
Dec 05 2017 09:45 PM no
Dec 05 2017 09:45 PM Make it cool. #keeprenodirty
Dec 05 2017 09:45 PM I love the Reno sign as it is! Keep it classic!
Dec 05 2017 09:43 PM People come from all over the world to pose under Reno's world famous neon arch. LED lighting is harsh and cold.
Without the glow of neon it could cheapen the historic appearance of this popular tourist destination. Adriene Biondo,
Museum of Neon Art-Glendale
Dec 05 2017 09:42 PM Please keep the sign in its historic look and materials including Real neon.
Dec 05 2017 09:42 PM LED lights have been shown to mimic the sunlight and have been linked to throwing off the circadian rhythm of people.
Not to mention the neon is part of Renos legacy, thank you for your time.
Dec 05 2017 09:42 PM I must explain why it is important to keep the Reno Arch as it is in engineering terms. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Dec 05 2017 09:38 PM To me, Nevada and neon go together. Nevada and LED dont.
Dec 05 2017 09:38 PM
Preserve the legacy of Renos sign. As a native Renoite, I have seen much of the city change over time. Please honor the
original sign and keep it as is. Renos neon sign is iconic, and should stay the way that it is. It is an internationally-
recognized piece of signage, even for a relatively small city. Even during my time living abroad, I became aware of the
unique cultural component that Reno has through its neon signage. I have seen this sign acknowledged in art, film,
historical records and more. PRESERVE THE NEON SIGN! And thank you for this survey.

Best regards,

A pro-neon native Nevadan
Dec 05 2017 09:36 PM
Keep the original neon, but refurbish the sign to have a new luster and brilliance for all to see - I believe neon is classic,
and have a strong and bold statement that is original and true to entertainment areas, as well as similar cities such as
older Las Vegas. Neon has a warmth element that cannot be replaced by a simple LED light.
Dec 05 2017 09:34 PM waste of money focus on other concerning topics like crime, homeless, drugs, EDUCATION this should not be a topic
until other aspects of city are improved
Dec 05 2017 09:32 PM No
Dec 05 2017 09:32 PM I believe the Neon is a critical part of this sign and removing it would be a travesty.

Dec 05 2017 09:18 PM I LOVE the old Reno sign & hope you never replace the neon. Nevada means Neon!!!
Dec 05 2017 09:14 PM Please keep the neon, do not replace with LED. Neon is integral to this history of Reno and Nevada, please preserve the
historic quality of this beautiful sign.

Dec 05 2017 09:01 PM Please keep the neon
Dec 05 2017 09:00 PM While do not live in Nevada, I visit frequently for business. This sign is a classic, it is known worldwide, much like the
Space Needle in Seattle. Any change to the colors or altering the neon would cheapen it thus making Reno feel like
another town that has forgotten its history.
Dec 05 2017 09:00 PM Do mess up a good thing keep the neon!
Dec 05 2017 08:54 PM Why change a good thing? It's an iconic symbol that tourists come to view and know. Something the citizens take pride in
having. Changing it would be like missing a puzzle piece that completes the city.
Dec 05 2017 08:51 PM Keep it classy and classic with NEON!
Dec 05 2017 08:50 PM Please keep the neon lights
Dec 05 2017 08:49 PM That sign is my favorite thing about visiting Reno!!!

Dec 05 2017 08:47 PM Keep Reno NEON!
Dec 05 2017 08:46 PM No.
Dec 05 2017 08:46 PM Keep this historic sign AS IS!! Reno has already erased so much of its rich history by tearing down buildings & updating
EVERYTHING. Please respect history & keep it the same...ESPECIALLY the neon! Neon = Nevada!!
Dec 05 2017 08:46 PM Keep it as is. Its real. Its Reno.
Dec 05 2017 08:43 PM I wish the 70's era signage could be put up elsewhere in town... much like the version on Lake Street.
Dec 05 2017 08:42 PM This sign is classic and should be restored using classic materials.
Dec 05 2017 08:41 PM Please keep the sign in Ron NOT led!
Dec 05 2017 08:39 PM Please take into consideration that neon is a big part of Reno culture and Nevada culture. I feel like Reno is turning away
from its district heritage and trying to look and act like other cities. Lets celebrate and preserve what makes us unique!
So many iconic neon signs are disappearing from Reno and it would be the ultimate to remove the beautiful pink neon
from the arch. I'm employee you to drive around town and look at the businesses that are using LED lights as
signage..they look cheap and do not have that warm nostalgic glow. Neon tubes are bent by hand by highly skilled
craftsmen and is an art in itself.
Dec 05 2017 08:39 PM Please do not replace the neon. To replace the neon would be to banish the soul out of Reno.
Dec 05 2017 08:37 PM Just restore the sign as it is and it will last many more years to come .
Dec 05 2017 08:30 PM SAVE THE NEON
Dec 05 2017 08:27 PM Dont change this iconic
Dec 05 2017 08:22 PM The sign is iconic and should keep the neon. The neon is what I love about Reno!
Dec 05 2017 08:20 PM This neon is so iconic, it should be preserved in its current state.
Dec 05 2017 08:17 PM Keep the NEON! Please.
Dec 05 2017 08:08 PM I love the traditional neon sign.
Dec 05 2017 08:07 PM While most of my votes are to continue the way it looks now, the reason centers around the way the offsetting colors and
design work together. It is a wonderful existing design with perfectly balanced colors.
Dec 05 2017 08:04 PM Neon please!!
Dec 05 2017 07:57 PM Keep the neon whatever else is changed
Dec 05 2017 07:57 PM I'm afraid LED lights can never have the warmth of neon
Dec 05 2017 07:56 PM No
Dec 05 2017 07:54 PM Why would you want to change such a treasure? The original designers knew what they were doing. LED's are such a
cold and uninviting look, I feel neon has a much better look, warm and inviting. Please don't turn the arch into another
cheap suburban theme park entrance.
Dec 05 2017 07:54 PM
Why would you change the most famous and amazing thing of Reno? Keep it the same with the neon! Its historic!
Dec 05 2017 07:53 PM Keep everything the same. Reno is part of history. You cant change history so why try now?
Dec 05 2017 07:52 PM Awesome project! Pleeeeeease keep the neon!
Dec 05 2017 07:50 PM LEDs are wonderful in flashlights. They do not make a convincing substitute for neon. Ever. Regardless of what the sales
people tell you. Keep the neon!
Dec 05 2017 07:50 PM I'd hate to see the neon removed! Reno has lost enough neon as it is! LED is cold and ugly. Nothing compares to neon.
Keep the neon!!!
Dec 05 2017 07:49 PM LEDs are wonderful in flashlights. They do not make a convincing substitute for neon. Ever. Regardless of what the sales

I like the plan to keep the neon because there were so many neon signs in our past. How does led compare with neon?

Dec 05 2017 07:17 PM PLEASE keep the neon
Dec 05 2017 07:17 PM Keep the neon! :)
Dec 05 2017 07:17 PM
I understand that our is changing/improving but the Reno should stay the same to show how far we have come as a city.

Dec 05 2017 07:13 PM Keep it OG, but nicer
Dec 05 2017 07:09 PM Dont change our citys iconic sign, we love it the way it is!
Dec 05 2017 07:06 PM Preserve the iconic look of this while updating and cleaning it. Adding new colors takes away from its history, and
removing neon removes the nod to the neon filled street. Stick with current color

Dec 05 2017 07:02 PM Keep the neon! Maintain the history, integrity and legacy of this iconic sign. Please!
Dec 05 2017 06:56 PM Please keep the sign neon, slightly gawdy, historical and Reno. The casino lights in this town may be dimming by the
day, but the arch - with its copious bulbs and glamour - will always reflect where weve come from and what makes Reno
different.
Dec 05 2017 06:53 PM Preservation is critical. It would be tragic to let neon be replaced by LEDs. Keep the sign as it is, please!
Dec 05 2017 06:53 PM Dont alter this treasure!!!
Dec 05 2017 06:46 PM Keep the Neon!! The legacy needs to be preserved!!
Dec 05 2017 06:45 PM Seems like that money could be used to fix up other parts of the city that need it more. The arch is a landmark and I have
never looked at it and thought it needed an updat. MAYBE if downtown changed, then maybe changing up the arch is a
good idea. Or what about building another arch on another street that is updated? We have two arches already, why not
another, a neat way to keep our arches and see history etc.
Dec 05 2017 06:41 PM Please, please, please keep the neon. This is a classic sign and deserves to be treasured and restored.
Dec 05 2017 06:41 PM Neon is part of Nevada heritage! Lets keep it glowing.
Dec 05 2017 06:38 PM Keep as is
Dec 05 2017 06:38 PM
I love the Reno Arch the way it is, and appreciate the City maintaining its authenticity. I am an avid photographer of neon
signs with a large following of other like-minded sign enthusiasts who appreciate history and authenticity.
Dec 05 2017 06:37 PM The sign is beautiful as it is. I think changing the neon to LED would look incredibly tacky. Vintage neon is an important
part of this city and changing the colors/lights would not improve the overall aesthetic.
Dec 05 2017 06:26 PM With EVERYTHING changing, this iconic sign should stay the same. It holds such dear memories for so many people. It
has stood the test of time. Don't cheapen it by changing it to keep up with passing fads. It's a classic that should be
honored.
Dec 05 2017 06:24 PM Dont change the neon. Neon is a part of Nevadas culture and you would be doing a great disservice to remove it from
one of the most iconic signs in the state
Dec 05 2017 06:23 PM Keep the neon!!!
Dec 05 2017 06:21 PM Please preserve this sign, and maintain the neon as it is! It is an iconic and historic symbol for Reno!
Dec 05 2017 06:19 PM
In my youth I met a man in a dumpster who was convinced that the shadows from the neon lights made people do
things...neon is awesome. Theres plenty of things changing in Reno already. Keep the neon vibe alive.
Dec 05 2017 06:16 PM Please keep the neon, for the sake of retaining the sign's vintage feel and to honor the importance of neon in Reno's (and
Nevada's) sign heritage! We have lost so much vintage neon in Reno, let's not lose this, too.
Dec 05 2017 06:12 PM
Keep the neon! Its a part of the industrial arts that makes Reno unique and could support local artisans to keep the craft
alive and viable. Also neon uses less electricity than most lighting and will last indefinitely longer than led.
Dec 05 2017 06:10 PM This arch/sign is iconic. The city would lose its heart if this sign were changed with the above suggestions. It should
remain the same.
Dec 05 2017 06:09 PM Please keep the neon! Neon is our legacy! Thank you!
Dec 05 2017 06:06 PM If it isn't broken don't fix it
Dec 05 2017 06:03 PM Lets keep the past preserved. So much of these neon signs are going by way of modern technology instead of keeping
with the traditional neon and incandescent bulbs. Im all for technology, dont get me wrong, but please preserve this
landmark sign as is. Thank you.
Dec 05 2017 06:00 PM Please keep the neon it is what makes your sign so special.

Dec 05 2017 05:39 PM Please keep the neon on the arch its a huge part or Renos heritage and to see it go would be a travesty.
Dec 05 2017 05:38 PM The arch is part of Renos history, and my childhood. I love it the way it is and hope it stays that way
Dec 05 2017 05:22 PM Change the "RENO" font to something more up-to-date. Art-deco doesn't 'fit' anymore.
Dec 05 2017 04:07 PM I applaud the updating of the sign. It looks very outdated. I only wish the sign itself (shape of the RENO lettering) could be
updated too. Keep up the good work!
Dec 05 2017 04:57 AM If the budget will allow, convert all lighting to multi-phase LED to allow unlimited light displays which can then be
programmed and color-coordinated for major holidays and city events. Also, allow local businesses, nonprofits and
residents to make tax-deductable donations into a special project fund to increase the budget. It would be great to utilize
current lighting technology on the arch. Thanks for listening!
Dec 04 2017 06:59 PM Really making the needed repairs, painting and cleaning, is all that is needed. That sign is Reno to the world, no changes
really needed.
Dec 04 2017 03:58 PM If we are a University Town and want to connect downtown to the University, we should have silver and blue.
Dec 04 2017 02:29 PM What color is the new bridge? Perhaps maintaining continuity could bring the two symbols together i,e if the bridge is
brushed stainless steel then incorporate it into the legs of the sign with the gold.
Dec 04 2017 12:47 PM This iconic sign is in dire need of updates. Lets go all out. Just look at what the new lighting on GSR does for its

Dec 04 2017 11:51 AM Please don't waste money on lots of changes. Fresh arch and one color change should make it look new.

Dec 04 2017 10:13 AM I assume the changing color lights would be LED, saving energy costs. Although te gold color on the legs of the arch is
nice, so is stainless steel which requires much less maintenance over time.
Dec 04 2017 10:11 AM
While I want to preserve the look and feel of the current arch, I hope the city reconsiders using the vintage (1963-1987)
midcentury arch octagon "R" logo that was under discussion recently. It is a huge improvement over the current too-busy
logo with all of the skyline, etc. (sorry, not really related to the subject of the survey but wanted to get that in there)
Dec 04 2017 09:48 AM This sign has been around a long time and is reflected in historical photographs of the city. Lets keep our Heritage in tact
and keep the sign the same. It does not need to change and the changes would not make it better. Everyone recognizes
it the way it looks currently, lets keep it.
Dec 04 2017 09:43 AM It was difficult to choose between the gold and brushed silver finish. On the one hand, I like the idea of keeping the gold
finish to pay tribute to the existing design and Reno's history, but on a personal level, I just like brushed finishes better.
The brushed finish may cause the arch to disappear a bit when viewed against a concrete background. Thanks for the
opportunity to provide feedback.
Dec 04 2017 09:39 AM Please keep the neon!
Dec 04 2017 09:39 AM Keep up the surveys
Dec 04 2017 09:23 AM This reno arch is known throughout our country. When we have visitors from back east, the first thing they want to see is
the arch. Lets do it right. Interchanging colors can be used for different events.
Dec 04 2017 09:20 AM colors of blue and silver would be nice
Dec 04 2017 09:08 AM it's iconic make it cool!
Dec 04 2017 09:06 AM We should use the most energy-efficient lighting possible! Also, we should put reference to both Reno colleges on the

colleges provide in all types of industries.

Theyre tired of waiting too! There aren't even any public restrooms in convenient places and the few that are they are

While I think this is neat, I also don't think that this is a good use of city money. I would much rather this money be spent
on fixing potholes, addressing ways to help our growing homeless population, keeping Reno affordable for current (and
long-term) Renoites so we don't get priced out of the city due to gentrification gone wild.
Nov 19 2017 08:49 AM Changes to the color of the Arch are services to special interest groups (Law Enforcement Awareness, Cancer
Awareness, ...). Cost to improve the Arch should funded through those groups that use such services. Raising $500,000
through a community fundraising drive should cover the expenses.

Move the street people back to the train pad where they used to be. They have been sitting on the signs base since the
fence went up on the train pad and it makes the sign look tacky. When crossing the Virginia St. Bridge last Saturday night
I heard a woman say to her friends, "Reno's getting cute instead of divey." Let's keep that up.
Nov 14 2017 06:07 PM Make lower portions a little more impervious to vandalism.
Nov 14 2017 04:47 PM Use the extra money that was going to be spent on the arch and clean up downtown (i.e. more patrols ). Or an even
better use for the money would be to start the process of creating affordable homes for the locals !!
Nov 14 2017 04:39 PM Consider what can be done to cut costs. This kind of money could be better used elsewhere.
Nov 14 2017 07:03 AM I like the gray letters with blue background as well and had a hard time choosing one on that question.
Nov 13 2017 05:59 PM
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE BASE OF THE ARCH STRAIGHT UP SO THAT VAGRANTS CAN'T SIT ON IT AND BEG. I
WOULD ALSO LIKE THE FINISH TO BE LIKE THE NEW BRIDGE WHICH IS GRAFITTI RESISTANT
Nov 13 2017 05:37 PM The Blue & Silver/Gray arch lends itself to our identity as a university town. I would recommend white letters rather than
gray to make the RENO appear more crisp. While the option to change letter colors is neat, I think flashing/animation
would be too far separated from the classic look to the sign and be a distraction to drivers. A constant color based on the
season/event theme would work though.
Nov 13 2017 03:09 PM Use LEDs
Nov 13 2017 02:02 PM
I would prefer the City of Reno replace the arch with a whole new style. Why not put new arch that combines modern
elements with elements from one of the original arches?

I'm glad the city is doing something with the arch, I have always felt the style of the current arch was on the tacky side.
Nov 12 2017 04:36 PM I prefer the legacy combination, with minor updating. I understand the need to refresh the sign but any additional money
beyond what is budgeted should go to fund one time city services that need attention like park improvements, old smokey
fire trucks, broken sidewalks, etc.
Nov 12 2017 08:11 AM Our sign is a classic, and it's famous the world over. If we do end up changing it, look to past styles, and KEEP THE
NEON!
Nov 11 2017 10:42 PM Nevada's has huge history with neon lights. Reno should stay neon to honor that history.
Nov 11 2017 09:52 AM I look forward to the upgrade, Downtown is long over due for a makeover.
Nov 11 2017 09:13 AM Clean it up and primarily keep the sign the same

Nov 10 2017 12:12 PM I think it is great to update the arch long overdue
Nov 10 2017 11:10 AM This is a giant waste of money. There are so many other problems in Reno and this is superficial at best.
Nov 10 2017 10:59 AM This is dumb, and a waste of taxpayer dollars. Just clean it, this is a symbol of our city.

Nov 09 2017 02:05 PM Im amazed you were able to get pictures of the arch without homeless people perched upon it. Can we please enact a

with homeless people which makes the city look awful.

Nov 09 2017 12:42 PM Does it really cost $226,000 to provide the needed maintenance to the arch? I'm sure that amount of money could be

Nov 08 2017 03:24 PM Maintain the historic essence of the city and clean up downtown. It is embarrassing.
Nov 08 2017 03:00 PM Staff should present a cost/benefit or return-on-investment after 20 or 25 years, to analyze the budgetary implications of
this proposed project, as in with all the annual effort to repair this thing and adjust the lights etc., what does that cost after
a long period compared with the upfront investment now..?
Also, a better Arch would be more Octagonal Rs again.

Dear Reno City Council -
Please keep the sign originally like it's been since the late 80s. It is a great color combo and NEON is a fast disappearing
American art as well as American character and flavor. We have gotten rid of enough vintage neon motel signs this last
year. Honestly, enough is enought. Reno is losing it's old west charm and vintage neon artistic sensibility. It is sad to
see so many signs already gone. Before you know it, Reno will have a whitewashed sterile facade like everything else,
i.e., fading early gambling town history, no more original neon signs, fading Americana and biggest-little-city charm, etc.
At least keep the RENO sign over Virginia Street close to its current version, if not 100% of its current original version.

Thank you for your consideration -

John Molezzo
(Reno resident since 1969)

The Arch is iconic as it is but I'm not opposed to an update. Keep moving in the direction of blue instead of red.

Also, let's fix the Reno flag next. This city deserves a better representation
Nov 08 2017 06:07 AM Don't waste extra money on the sign. Use it to fix the homeless/panhandlers problem. It makes our city look a lot crappier
than one old sign.
Nov 08 2017 03:51 AM Tourist often come to our city and one of our main attractions is the Arch, and if they keep coming each year to the same
one they're eventually going to get tired of it. It does deserve a change and yes change can be hard but it can also be for
the best.

Nov 08 2017 01:25 AM cost up front, but would save the city a TON money over time in electrical bills. And then the letters could all change
colors at intervals, be changed for special occasions, and creative color-changing effects could be used on a regular
basis. Vegas is always modernizing. Reno, instead of being "Las Vegas' bastard little brother," could modernize and
become the world-class destination that it has the potential to be.

On days with Reno Aces games, the arch could reflect their colors. On national holidays, you could go red, white, and
blue (perhaps "RENO" in red, "THE" and "LITTLE CITY IN THE WORLD" in white, and "BIGGEST" in blue. On other days,
just have cool transition effects from one color to the other of many available colors. Fades, cascades, etc.

I know Reno is an old city, but that doesn't mean it can't change with the times. Use the available (and not all that
expensive) technology that is already available to make the arch modern.

I mean, no need to go as far as light-up drones (google "walt disney world drone show" if you don't understand what I
mean by that -- they had many drones with LED lights programmed to interact together and create a pretty amazing light
show as a test of the technology), but...the neon lighting is very past-tense. It's not the 60s anymore, and sometimes
visiting Reno feels like traveling back in time to the 60s.

We've come a LONG way since the arch was last updated. Holding onto the past is all well and good, but...if you want to
draw people, while you don't have to go full-futuristic, the arch should at least get in line with the 21st century and use
some modern lighting techniques. Pay for it with occupancy taxes on hotel rooms if need be...it shouldn't be a large tax,
because it won't take too long to recoup the cost at even a $1/night tax, and then revoke that tax when the sign is paid
Nov 08 2017 12:43 AM I think the options I chose would really update the sign, and it really should be silver and blue, because we're the SILVER
state, and also, they're Wolfpack colors! I love the arch in our little city, but it looks 1970's CHEESY, and it's not
representative of what we are NOW! We're cool! Thanks for listening!
Nov 08 2017 12:17 AM
Keep the neon to link to our historic casino past, as a popular art medium, and because it has an appropriate 'tacky'
aspect given our rogue-ish reputation. Color-changing LED's are flash-in-the-pan gimmick vs. classic neon!
Nov 07 2017 11:55 PM I would like to have the current design of the arch preserved as much as possible and ensure that the cost is as little as
possible.
Nov 07 2017 11:54 PM I've always loved the idea of putting something besides the star at the top. For example a pumpkin for Halloween, a tree
for Christmas, a heart for Valentines day, etc.. In my opinion I believe it would save more money than adding the
changing color lights or repainting it.
I've traveled a lot and have never forgotten the gold legs and burgundy big letters of Reno.
Nov 07 2017 11:30 PM I would love to see the color changing words on the sign
Nov 07 2017 11:18 PM Tthe ability to change color would be great, especially around the holidays.
Nov 07 2017 10:35 PM TO INFINITY AND BEYOND
Nov 07 2017 09:55 PM Easy flexibility to change the arch to represent the citys varied events and concepts would be the best improvement. Also
making the arch Silver and Blue is poignant as the Silver State.
Nov 07 2017 09:51 PM Yea
Nov 07 2017 09:40 PM I love Reno my family came here in 1952. I have watched this place really change alot over the years. I remember the old
yellow Reno sign

Nov 07 2017 09:33 PM The new river bridge is beautifully framed by the arch looking south down Virginia. Play up this view.
Nov 07 2017 09:06 PM Do something timeless, not as a modern fad.
Nov 07 2017 08:55 PM No.
Nov 07 2017 08:45 PM Please leave it alone! :-)
Nov 07 2017 08:28 PM If the lights are replaced with color change option, there will be nothing but requests to switch colors every time there is a
holiday, major event, or political whim. Save us all the extra expense and burden on City staff. If they aren't changeable,
then nobody gets their "feelings" hurt.
Nov 07 2017 08:25 PM Make the arch silver and blue. No red should be in it. Red is for UNLV. Reno needs to represent the wolf pack!
Nov 07 2017 08:20 PM My 9 year old things it should be the biggest medium city as it is no longer little.
Nov 07 2017 08:01 PM Needs to compete with Las Vegas. There's nothing downtown anymore it's decaying.
Nov 07 2017 07:52 PM N
Nov 07 2017 07:38 PM Staying with in budget is very important to me.
Nov 07 2017 07:38 PM Add a count down for new years

Nov 07 2017 07:37 PM I do like the updated look, but Id like to retain a bit of the original feel with the burgundy and white lettering for daytime
viewing.
Nov 07 2017 07:23 PM Move the homeless shelter and services away from the downtown area.
Nov 07 2017 07:22 PM Appreciate the opportunity for input! I really like the idea of modernizing the iconic sign.
Nov 07 2017 07:20 PM Move the homeless shelters and services away from the downtown area.

Nov 07 2017 06:48 PM I like the color change idea on the Reno to be festive with occasions, holidays or causes.

Where is the funding coming from? We always hear we need money for schools, crime, streets. Don't waste it on the sign

Nov 07 2017 05:55 PM Love the arch..it is iconic Reno.
Nov 07 2017 05:54 PM No changes...It's very good. Change is not inherently better.
Nov 07 2017 05:48 PM I would like the Reno letters to be blue. There wasn't an option just for blue.
Nov 07 2017 05:41 PM Lights that surround the sign should be LED to be able to change color also.
Nov 07 2017 05:31 PM I think having either "RENO" OR "The Biggest Little City in the World" Changeable - but not both. It may seem too
distracting / extraneous to have both changeable.
Nov 07 2017 05:24 PM Why change something that has been an iconic Landmark for years?
Nov 07 2017 05:23 PM No
Nov 07 2017 05:22 PM I believe that visitors come to Reno to see the arch as it is. I also would like to continue to keep the arch as it is. I am a
Reno transplant from the Midwest. Money would be better spent on keeping the downtown clean.
Nov 07 2017 05:15 PM I would like to see the legs little bit darker color and leave the rest the same
Nov 07 2017 04:51 PM I would love you to PLEASE change the font style of the word RENO
Even the original RENO arch is better/cooler font wise.
A stronger, blockier font style is what Im talking bout.
Thanks for the opportunity to give my opinion.
Nov 07 2017 04:49 PM Nadda!??
Nov 07 2017 04:46 PM Why not change the pillars for more modern look. Please keep up for 2020!! Thanks from KATs Inc.
Nov 07 2017 04:42 PM I was born and raised here in Reno and it is a dump downtown.Reno needs to start putting money away instead of
spending on useless things
that could be saved in a rainy day fund for when this economy falls again. Reno does nothing but waste money!!!!!!!!!
There is nothing wrong with the sign they have now. Huge waste of money?????
Nov 07 2017 04:40 PM I like using silver and blue for UNR and changing colors for the lettering would be awesome.

Nov 07 2017 04:31 PM Update the city, update the sign!
Nov 07 2017 04:12 PM I'd rather see refurbishing, not a lot of change.
Nov 07 2017 04:05 PM No
Nov 07 2017 03:58 PM Though I gave you my selections, I really don't see a need to change the arch at all. We have other other expenses that
need our attention, such as homeless issues, education, and roads. The money should be used for these issues not a
new arch.
Nov 07 2017 03:57 PM Ideally a new arch design would be nice. Not just a re hash of the old. Maybe something to reflect the changing
architecture of the downtown and midtown areas.
Nov 07 2017 03:54 PM Change either the word RENO or the phrase THE BIGGEST LITTLE CITY IN THE WORLD, to color-changing lights, but
don't change both. Leave one as-is.
Nov 07 2017 03:49 PM Hello,

Replacing the lights with color changing LED's is okay but why would you change such an iconic sign? Everyone in the
US and world knows the iconic colors and sign. If anything, make the top star/scones more prominent. Sometimes old and
nostalgic is better than new.

Keeping heritage is something the world is losing. Why don't you guys build rooms and hotels that brag about the 50's
and 60's? Why not embrace the heritage of what makes Reno great?

Travis Rottini,
trottini@gmail.com
Nov 07 2017 03:41 PM The sign is iconic. The look should stay the same.
Nov 07 2017 03:31 PM I think the best change you could make is to find another method of displaying the slogan. Having the segmented pieces
looks bad when you can see the light coming from the gaps in between the segments.
Nov 07 2017 03:06 PM each post could be mayor shieve and the middle instead of saying reno could be a giant check for the amount it is costing
tax payers to replace the sign.
Nov 07 2017 03:01 PM No
Nov 07 2017 02:54 PM While I like the Idea of being able to change colors for celebration of events such UNR basketball or rifle team success, I
think the city has other, more pressing concerns upon which to spend money .Retaining the Arch as it is makes it a
historical reference point.
Nov 07 2017 02:54 PM The silver and blue scheme represents Reno and Northern Nevada best, providing a departure from the glitz and glam of
our friends in the South. The color changing Reno does add a hint of that, which brings to the front the pride we all have in
the outdoors aspect of our beautiful area.
Nov 07 2017 02:50 PM As subtle and tasteful as possible with shades selected, please.

Nov 07 2017 02:48 PM I think the neon aspects should be a solid color, but less 70's vegas and more well, 2018 reno. Maybe change the color
scheme to UNR colors. I dont want the sign to remind me of old people smoking at a slot machine.
Nov 07 2017 02:45 PM Make the background board of the Reno sign black so that the letters can stand out.
Nov 07 2017 02:29 PM Too bad they can't change the font, it's outdated
Nov 07 2017 02:21 PM No
Nov 07 2017 02:10 PM Yes the sign does need maintenance, but I think it is fine the way it is.
Nov 07 2017 02:09 PM
As a downtown business owner, my most important suggestion would be NO base at the bottom of the sides so that the
undesirables could not sit there, as they do now! Also, how about a changing sign on one of the sides that would read
"I was here - then the time and date" because so many visitors take pictures of the arch
Nov 07 2017 02:03 PM Keep some history to it don't do drastic changes
Nov 07 2017 02:02 PM Dont mess with tradition to much.
Nov 07 2017 01:49 PM I am an 8th generation Northern Nevadan and it makes me so sad to see the history and things of classic character this
town torn down or re done into some passing decor phase. Can't we leave one classic Reno thing as is? Yes it needs to
be touched up and made pretty again but why mess with the over all look? I hope this arch is left alone as with the loss of
other classics it would hurt my heart to see it fussed with.
Nov 07 2017 01:33 PM Blue is wolf pack, red is rebels
Nov 07 2017 01:16 PM Are people still allowed to submit ideas?
Nov 07 2017 01:13 PM I think the existing letters for RENO are dated and ugly!! The problem isn't with the colors, it is with the letters
themselves! The entire signage needs to be modernized, and I would pay taxes to help pay for it!
Nov 07 2017 01:11 PM Xtra white lighting on side's
Nov 07 2017 12:43 PM Blues/silvers convey greater state/local pride and should be better represented.

Nov 07 2017 12:22 PM No
Nov 07 2017 12:15 PM Please keep the Arch just the way it is! We need stability in our world. Make needed repairs, but don't change it at all.
Money could be better spent on cancer research.
Nov 07 2017 12:15 PM No additional Questions
Nov 07 2017 12:11 PM The Reno sign itself looks bulky and outdated. A sleek, updated arch would be much more effective than simply changing
the colors.
Nov 07 2017 12:03 PM Thanks you for your efforts in making this sign even more spectacular!
Nov 07 2017 12:03 PM I feel like the whole sign has a 90's feel to it. The font is outdated. Honestly I like the old one by automobile museum
better. Less is more. Redesign the whole thing. Don't put money towards something that is outdated. It had a good run.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment
Nov 07 2017 12:02 PM I think its great that are updating the sign
Nov 07 2017 11:59 AM CHANGE THE FONT OF THE WORD RENO !!! That font is terrible and the E looks odd and not aesthetically pleasing to
the eye !!!!!
Nov 07 2017 11:58 AM It seems that we've already narrowed the field with aforementioned options. Is there a way to be able to program various
light arrays among the entire arch (all sections) - in similar fashion to the Empire State Building's use of colors to support
anything from holidays to events to other occasions?
Nov 07 2017 11:52 AM The Reno Arch is symbolic of the city. Keep it as is - just redo paint.
Nov 07 2017 11:51 AM
Dont change a thing. The city needs to stop changing everything about our city that everyone loves. Dont try to reinvent
the wheel, and while the arch may be in need of repairs, as the saying goes, If it aint broke, dont fix it.
Nov 07 2017 11:41 AM I'm so excited to see the results! ??
Nov 07 2017 11:28 AM Keep the cost of repainting and light replacement to under $10,000.
Nov 07 2017 11:25 AM In # 1, it's hard to tell the difference between the aluminum and the stainless steel, as there are no drawings from which to
choose.
Nov 07 2017 11:23 AM Id prefer the repairs to keep the sign looking the same because it is symbolic of Reno to me and has an elegant look
already!
Nov 07 2017 11:22 AM All this because you want to have the ability to change colors? Focus on other more important issues.
Nov 07 2017 11:12 AM With out change, there is no progress or moving forward with the times. With the color changing options there would be
an added support for the wolfpack-blue, breast cancer awareness-pink, holiday colors and so on. I think it's important to
make that change an move forward because the sign would be very proactive with all activities as well as an iconic
symble throughout the community.

Nov 07 2017 10:52 AM
This is not the most attractive arch design Reno has had. I don't like the lower case letters. We should at least have a
capital R. Glad to see they're is an option to do something other than the burgandy. Gray and blue is a great idea!
Thank you for soliciting input! Can't wait to see the new arch.
Nov 07 2017 10:44 AM While we are at it, why don't we update the color of the Golden Gate Bridge, to, say, gold? And Lady Liberty is looking a
little green, don't you think? Let's do a survey monkey poll and reassign colors to all of our monuments. I've always
thought the Grand Canyon was too red. Seriously? Color changing LED lights look like crap. Reno is going to take the one
and only monument that it is known for and "update" and "refresh" it? Someone in City Hall has rocks in his or her head. If
the Mayor in Her Wisdom wants a new sign, build one and hire actual artists to reimagine what it could be and do, but
leave the old one alone or risk the wrath of the townsfolk and their pitchforks after you New Coke the only classic
monument in town.

Nov 07 2017 10:31 AM If the RENO lights will change colors, then the background for "The Biggest Little City in the World" should be a more
neutral color instead of burgundy. In this case, I'd prefer blue as the background instead. I originally picked burgundy and
white so it would pay some sort of homage to the original. But I think various colors with burgundy would look tacky. I'd
prefer for for the sign to have a color palette that's more modern and appealing to bring Reno up to par with other major
cities.
Nov 07 2017 10:30 AM Tradition is important.
Nov 07 2017 10:30 AM Being able to change "RENO" to different colors provides some needed and exciting variation. Leaving "The Biggest
Little City In The World" as white allows the focus to be on the changing RENO and provides a bit of foundation to the
overall sign.
Nov 07 2017 10:29 AM Look up 911 led. These are emergency lights that Hewlett and Packard invented. These lights are on a microchip and
work off a motorcycle battery. Low energy use. Red, white, blue and amber.

Whatever silver you used in the blue reno arch picture is the one I vote for. I can't tell if I picked the correct silver.
Nov 07 2017 10:20 AM Reno should be in the shape of dice ?? or slot machine wheels ?? and every letter be a different color as it changes

Nov 07 2017 10:19 AM No
Nov 07 2017 10:16 AM The current red/gold combo looks like a banner for UNLV. Please go blue and silver for UNR. Go Wolfpack
Nov 07 2017 10:10 AM Not at this time.
Nov 07 2017 10:05 AM We should be able to Change the colors on the arch to reflect the times...such as Paris . ..and New York buildings that
color change based on an event or incident
Nov 07 2017 10:03 AM Changing the wording "Biggest Little City" to various colors does not make the wording stand out enough. Please think
about that in the final decision.
Nov 07 2017 10:00 AM Thank you for allowing our input!
Nov 07 2017 09:55 AM updating lights to something lie LED should be good for costs, however don't fall into the fad of color changing. it looks
very cheap. if this is to be the RENO icon, then make it classy. don't cheapen it with gimmicks
Nov 07 2017 09:55 AM Keep the neon on the reno lettering
Nov 07 2017 09:55 AM Dont mess with an historical icon. Updating it will destroy its character. Spend the money to remove the trash and
homeless!!!
Nov 07 2017 09:52 AM The font on the sign is terrible. Come up with some options. Modernize the font!!
Nov 07 2017 09:52 AM I like the idea also of having the lights above and below "The Biggest Little City In The World" being digital so that the
color can be changed, as needed.
Nov 07 2017 09:49 AM Get rid of the gold. Is there not another alternative to the "shiny" metals? Something that will both be polished, yet not so
reflective? Having the lights be able to change the different colors is a great idea. Can it be that individual LEDs colors
be different colors than others? That is, say you want to mimic the flag on the sign, or promote LGBT, or make a
shamrock for a beer crawl, etc. Also, the star is... out of place. Can it be removed? If for history's sake it (or a symbol of
it) must stay, can it be updated? Thanks!
Nov 07 2017 09:47 AM No
Nov 07 2017 09:44 AM I know this is way beyond the budget, but the RENO font is so outdated and goofy. Painting is just putting lipstick on a
pig.
Nov 07 2017 09:13 AM I think modernizing the sign would reflect the community's commitment to the arts. The flexibility of changing colors is
another opportunity to be playful in a city that prides itself on play. The changing color combos will be of interest to
tourists and spark conversation among locals. Go Reno!!
Nov 07 2017 09:09 AM Can you not find a better way to waste money?
Nov 07 2017 09:01 AM Art Deco theme similar to the Post Office for the skin.
Nov 07 2017 09:00 AM Yes, with so much more to do to clean up downtown Reno, now is not the time for this. Makes no sense for a new sign
surrounded by the bad elements of downtown. Downtown Reno has always been an eyesore, unsafe, full of homeless and
drug users thats its not a safe or desirable place to visit. Use this money to to relocate and help the current homeless
community. Downtown Reno is an embarrassment and when we have friends and family visit we do not go anywhere
near downtown. A new sign is ridiculous and completely unnecessary at this time. Whatever is chosen is hardly a reason
to visit especially when there is clearly more that needs to be redone in order to make is a desirable destination to visit. If
I need drugs, alcohol, a prostitute or a cheap disgusting motel I'll visit Reno in the meantime NO THANKS. A new sign is
lipstick on a pig
Nov 07 2017 08:59 AM
Keep it simple, not over the top. Color changing in my opinion is good so we can use it to honor things like breast cancer,
police, and so on. I think making "Reno" color changing and make the "biggest little city" white only would make it look
better.
Our even making it somehow resemble the flag through the letters of "Reno". Stars, stripes and all!! Just an idea!
Nov 07 2017 08:57 AM I'd like to see the starburst structure on top of the word "Reno" to have some light activity; I don't think the color of the
lights need to change, I'd just like to see white lights move in different variations on the starburst.
Nov 07 2017 08:52 AM
The sign is part of our history. I am glad she will be getting a face lift, but not one that would completely change her look.
Nov 07 2017 08:51 AM Red white and blue lettering. Or silver and blue

Nov 07 2017 08:46 AM Spend the $200k on cleaning up the city and the homeless problem.
Why the heck do we need to waste money on that.
Nov 07 2017 08:44 AM Reno is upside down in debt. Quit spending Public money you don't have, on "Tom-foolery"??

Nov 07 2017 08:33 AM Just leave as is,stop wasting Taxpayers $ !
Nov 07 2017 08:28 AM The addition of color-changing options just makes the arch more versatile for events in the future, which I'd say would be
great, since it already gets changed for several annual events anyway. Let's keep it a fluid, living part of the downtown
area with the additional color options.
Nov 07 2017 08:27 AM
There really isn't enough information to make choices other than the aesthetic ones.
Which light option is least expensive to power and maintain? I would choose that over looks and functionality.
Which of the options for the legs would be most durable and least expensive to maintain and clean from graffiti,
scratches, and damage from weather? That would be my choice.
Nov 07 2017 08:09 AM I drove by the Reno Arch twice in the last month. Each time there were "homeless" people camped out at the leg bases.
Please have help them.
Nov 07 2017 08:07 AM Is this project really the best use of public funds? Think housing crisis and homeless, police services, other community
services could use this dough.
Nov 07 2017 08:01 AM No changes
Nov 07 2017 08:01 AM Leave it as is - clean it up (maintenance)
Nov 07 2017 07:56 AM
Silver legs/blue sign is best. Reflecting the state colors. Maybe a little green thrown in for the sagebrush effect.
Nov 07 2017 07:54 AM It would be smart in the long run to switch to more energy efficient LED lights. The rest of the aesthetics like the gold and
burgundy already look and work fine.
Nov 07 2017 07:47 AM No to Trump's corporate tax cuts!
Nov 07 2017 07:45 AM
Open it up and let see what a new arch design could look like. With technological and design advancements anew arch
which reflects a new Reno should be at least looked at. The above option will be barely noticeable. Use the money for
a wide ranging design competition. People will be incensed no matter what you do so be bold and take the arrows.
Nov 07 2017 07:38 AM Don't waste people's money, there far more social issues to be solved, clean up downtown Reno and leave the sign
alone!!!!!!
Nov 07 2017 07:21 AM Make it interactive during certain periods
Nov 07 2017 07:20 AM Las Vegas hasn't changed it's famous "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign, we shouldn't either.
Nov 07 2017 07:17 AM I like the idea of updating it and making it look fresh, but it needs to maintain its historic look and recognition factor. Too
many colors and it just looks cheesy.
Nov 07 2017 07:12 AM The new suggestions would bring a very iconic monument up to date and make Reno look more progressive.
Nov 07 2017 07:06 AM Keep it the way it is. The City does not need to transform it every year. It looks great now. Maybe in another few years,
it will need a change.
Nov 07 2017 07:04 AM This is the Silver State, the arch should be silver
Nov 07 2017 06:49 AM My name is Nevada Key & I am a Reno resident. Silver and blue is greatly representational of our state. A modern yet
traditional theme showing our state colors would be an excellent update.
Nov 07 2017 06:48 AM If you are honoring our history, don't change it.
Nov 07 2017 06:32 AM No
Nov 07 2017 06:28 AM Whatever you do it needs to be sophisticated and classic, not gaudy.
Nov 07 2017 06:27 AM Why can't the entire UGLY arch be replaced with the historic one that's currently on Lake St? That one speaks of real
Reno; this one has always looked like glitz and showiness.
Nov 07 2017 06:24 AM leave it alone why do you in this city need to change everything . on another note quite throwing money down the drain
that is our tax money
Nov 07 2017 06:16 AM The main colors should be silver and blue because those are our state colors.
Nov 07 2017 06:15 AM Leave it alone and QUIT WASTING MONEY
Nov 07 2017 06:11 AM Downtown bums need to be policed .... It's embarrassing to see more bums than tourists. The bums are tweeker kids why
wont rpd clean this town up ? It reminds me of old freemont street in vegas before the roof was put on . If I were a tourist
here I would be disapointed in the choice to come to reno ... Reno is a gross dump for homeless rejects, drug addicts and
illegal imigrants ... Doesnt have to be but it is .. Shame on our local leaders ...hillary s. ,,,No vote from me! Complete
failure of leadership..
Nov 07 2017 06:08 AM Thank you for letting us vote!
Nov 07 2017 06:04 AM If the bulbs on the legs and arch are not already led, will they be replaced with led bulbs to save energy?
Nov 07 2017 06:03 AM Tone down the garish colors. The "bright, lights, big city" neon look is really old school and I don't think attractive to the
younger demographic Reno seeks.
Nov 07 2017 05:48 AM As a young architect-intern, my design was a finalist for the competition in mid-1980s which resulted in the design of the
current arch ultimately being selected. The Reno Arch was then and remains today an iconic symbol of Reno and it
deserves a facelight.
Nov 07 2017 05:39 AM Thank you for asking our opinion.
Nov 07 2017 05:36 AM
Looking forward to an updated sign reflective of the times and changes in Reno! Thanks for the survey opportunity.
Nov 06 2017 11:03 PM We need more bright light downtown on streets in general, it's dark and creepy

Nov 06 2017 03:35 PM Do something with base so it is not a seating area for pan handlers....spend money on repairs not changes, money saved
could be used on picking up garbage, dog waste, invest in new gabage can by old reno arch.. I think the sign has a nice
retro look as is

Nov 06 2017 01:28 PM
I love the idea of modernizing the sign to make it look less tacky while still retaining some of it's historical character
Nov 06 2017 12:10 PM Nope
Nov 06 2017 09:42 AM Revitalization is important at intervals within a city, particularly for land marks such as the Reno sign. However, color
changing lights increasing the cost of the revitalization project feels more like a vanity project than a necessity. Let's
continue to be good stewards of tax payer funds and be fiscally responsible as the City of Reno takes on revitalization
projects.
Nov 06 2017 09:24 AM I think updating is a great idea as we pursue the rebranding of our city, both who we are and what we represent. That
said, Reno is iconic in many ways and I think we should consider maintaining some of the familiarity while simultaneously
updating. The Reno arch appears in multiple movies and is memorable. I would hate to see my hometown arch in another
movie and not recognize it.
Nov 06 2017 09:23 AM cost analysis should be a part of the survey so we have the facts to make an informed choice as how to proceed before
choosing colors.
Nov 06 2017 09:06 AM So something with the star at the top could it be a small beacon.
Nov 06 2017 07:58 AM Thank you for making this a public opinion.
Nov 06 2017 07:44 AM Keep the letter font the same
Nov 05 2017 11:20 PM Maybe change the phrase to the cleanest kind of sketch in the world?
Nov 05 2017 11:14 PM I think the red stands out the most. Dont change it.
Nov 05 2017 10:17 PM Don't change it.
Nov 05 2017 06:34 PM My choices depend on the costs involved... if it is really expensive to add the color-changing effects then I would change
my vote to a solid color.

Nov 05 2017 03:44 PM This will be a great improvement for such an iconic part of Reno

Nov 05 2017 11:34 AM Keep the original design
Nov 05 2017 10:30 AM silver and blue representing the Silver State and Battle Born.
Nov 05 2017 09:04 AM Use hue led lights. That way they can change color with changing the bulbs
Nov 05 2017 08:33 AM I was born here in 1972 and i would like to see some technological advancement incorporated into our Arch. I think that
changing the city's motto to be able to change color is great, but let us not forget this city was built by neon and reno
should stay neon upon the arch. The old gold siding is a little cheap looking I have always felt that way it's like still having
brass fixtures in the bathroom. Let's make it clean and sleek looking and have it become a beacon and Sybil of a
changing Reno.
Nov 05 2017 08:07 AM Really this sign should be taken down and moved. The 'second arch' should be recreated and installed as a temporary
sign until we come up with a 4th arch. IMHO the second arch was the best...retro, fun and awesome. The 80's were not
kind to design in fashion or in arches. It was a mistake to sell it to Willits....
Nov 05 2017 07:43 AM Removing the past to upgrade isn't always better. Please leave our beautiful arch alone.
Nov 05 2017 07:31 AM Just switch it with the original one.
Nov 05 2017 07:18 AM The arch is a Reno Icon. I live downtown and see visitors taking pictures frequently in front of arch. ( It looked great in the
1980s but its time for a modern change) The sooner the better. Thanks
Nov 05 2017 01:54 AM I love Reno
Nov 05 2017 12:19 AM Love, love, love the idea of color changing bulbs !!
Nov 04 2017 09:54 PM Thank you for always working to update and keep Reno fun and hip!
Nov 04 2017 07:50 PM Changing the colors while more expensive would allow the arch to change along with the Festivities happening at the
time.
Nov 04 2017 06:26 PM Keep it clean. Pick up the trash at least once a day. Keep the homeless and druggies from loitering around it. How
about selling a 5 year sponsorship, or "Adopt the Arch" program to help pay for maintenance.
Nov 04 2017 04:45 PM Good Luck
Nov 04 2017 04:21 PM My favorite part of the arch is definitely the polished brass. It brings me back to when casinos had character. I think using
a more modern stainless steel would take away that character. Updating the paint and the lights is a good way to clean up
the arch without making it too bland.
Nov 04 2017 03:55 PM The arch is an icon. Rather than changing it I would like to see the money spent on something else to enhance our
skyline. The Wells bridge would look great at night with color changing lights along the rail. Google what Addison, TX did
with it's bridge.
Nov 04 2017 03:28 PM Make it shine
Nov 04 2017 03:21 PM Originally, I was planning on voting for Keep everything the same!!!, but I like the idea of changing colors:) Thanks for
the option to vote!
Nov 04 2017 02:50 PM Please keep it an icon. Not too much change.
Nov 04 2017 01:41 PM I think that money would be much better used helping the homeless that camp under and around the arch.
Nov 04 2017 10:21 AM I really think that it shouldnt be messed with to much and it should be maintained and not changed because it means a
lot to a lot of people here

Nov 04 2017 09:47 AM With the serious shortfalls in the city budget, why is this change even being discussed? As a lifetime resident of Reno,
"newer" isn't necessarily better.
Nov 04 2017 09:45 AM My vote is to keep the arch as close to resembling how it looks now, with appropriate repairs/replacement. I think under
no circumstance should the price tag should go above $200k.
Nov 04 2017 09:39 AM I was blessed with a job in your state and I think keeping the colors true to Nevada of blue and silver in addition to a
subheading for catastrophe events where we can show our support through the United States of America without
additional overhead cost for changing larger items like Reno biggest little city in the world.
Nov 04 2017 08:24 AM None
Nov 04 2017 08:21 AM Arch is dated, associates Reno with a time gone by, smoky casinos. A fresh concept is demanded to highlight the
changing economy we are experiencing. Reno is so much more today, celebrate the transformation. Thanks for
opportunity to share.
Nov 04 2017 07:54 AM
The sign is part of Reno History, let's not replace the historical sign with cheesy colors that do not add any value!
Nov 04 2017 07:36 AM It would be a nice change. Having the changing lights would be lovely. It will add interest to the arch. Blue and gray ties in
with the university also, which is a big part of this city.
Nov 04 2017 07:19 AM I think it's great you guys are fixing it up! I really hope the color changing lights go in, would be a great way for the city to
compliment various events - crawls, pride, pack games etc. Love it!

Any of the previous arches would be preferable to keeping this one around. The phrase "lipstick on a pig" comes to mind.

Nov 03 2017 11:32 PM Nope
Nov 03 2017 11:22 PM Brushed steel arches, and black or gray background to make the lights "pop". Then leave Reno neon intact. Change all
trim lights to programmable LEDs for different colors and patterns. "The Biggest Little City..." can then change colors as
well. It would keep the historic sentiment with adding a bit of the 21st century.
Nov 03 2017 11:15 PM I think there should be more options to choose from for the background color and the letters. There's only 2 options
because the third one is the same. If your going to change the sign it should be dramatic. There is no reason to change it
if it's going to be the same.
Nov 03 2017 10:37 PM N/a
Nov 03 2017 10:30 PM Keep it the same. Your plan is to redo all of downtown one day so it would be nice to keep something original. Spend the
money on something else besides lightbulbs that can change colors. Maybe you should give the Chaplain for the Reno
Fire Department benefits and pay him more than fifty cents per hour. He helps so many people everyday who cares if a
bulb changes color.
Nov 03 2017 10:28 PM
Thank you for asking for input. I think the color changeable lights for RENO is money well spent. Making The Biggest
Little City in the World changeable colors is not needed. Only one part needs to be changeable, not both.
Nov 03 2017 10:12 PM Like the blue and silver them. Timeless look with nod to Wolfpack
Nov 03 2017 10:00 PM Don't spend money on this, surely there is something else you can spend this money. Like roads! Or real, qualified traffic
engineers to replace those idiots at RTC! This project is one of the stupidest ideas I have ever heard of. It won't change a
goddamn thing. Watch.
Nov 03 2017 08:49 PM Balance the old with the new. Don't make it look too modern.
Nov 03 2017 08:48 PM
Just keep it tasteful. Too much colored changing IE Reno and the biggest little city in the world would be over the top.
Nov 03 2017 08:41 PM
As a new resident of Reno, I commend you on your attempt to change the looks of downtown. But driving through
downtown, especially to the DMV, there are areas of this city that need some "sprucing up" to make it more inviting to
guests and tourists---not just redoing a sign. Parts of the downtown really look dead and unsafe.
Nov 03 2017 08:32 PM I like keeping neon lights because they are so closely associated with this area. Find a way to incorporate neon into the
sign.
Nov 03 2017 08:28 PM remove the bums, beggars, scum bags from downtown
Nov 03 2017 08:12 PM Put the original back in place with changing lighting
Nov 03 2017 07:56 PM I would really prefer you pick the least expensive and longest-lasting options.
Nov 03 2017 07:53 PM
If there are going to be any huge changes then go back to the original arch that started in early Reno history. Otherwise,
spend the money on something that needs fixing- say making downtown Virginia street a walking street with
stagecoaches today's cars displayed in progression (showing transportation history of Reno) among lit trees.
Nov 03 2017 07:37 PM Proud native of Reno. I really like the neon letters. Wouldnt mind if it is redone with all existing colors but dont mind blue
for Wolf Pack.
Nov 03 2017 07:08 PM University colors!
Nov 03 2017 07:06 PM LEDs are cost and energy effecient in the long run, totally worth it!
Nov 03 2017 07:03 PM
Update to an industrial steam punk look or replace with the 1926 look with updated neon look. Use more neon!!!!!!!
Nov 03 2017 06:54 PM i like color changing lights in the name ( Reno ) with solid white letters-the biggest little city in the world with the blue
background. silver/steel frames.

Nov 03 2017 06:01 PM When in doubt, keep it as it is! If we mix it up too much, then we look like a knock off Vegas. Vintage/old-school is more
Reno.
Nov 03 2017 05:38 PM Id prefer a completely new design. Time for a change!
Nov 03 2017 05:06 PM I like the blue with the polished silver as those are out state colors as well as our Wolf Pack. The burgundy looks too
much like the Rebels ?? I also like the color changing options even though it adds to the cost. That does allow for special
events to be recognized as well as a way to highlight Reno as the COLORFUL VIBRANT city it is! ?? As a Las Vegas
NATIVE I absolutely LOVE this arch and this city (and the Pack ??)
Nov 03 2017 05:04 PM Silver and blue!!!
Nov 03 2017 05:03 PM I really like the idea of updating the lights to LED. A great idea to keep pushing the new image of Reno!
Nov 03 2017 05:00 PM The biggest concern I have with doing something like this is how well all of these suggestions will mesh together if they
are all implemented, particularly 2 and 3.
Nov 03 2017 05:00 PM The arch is a historical icon and should not be changed!
Nov 03 2017 04:57 PM The gold looks better, matches the casinos better

Nov 03 2017 04:47 PM I want to thank the city for finally cleaning up/updating our iconic arch. I can't wait to see all the much needed

Nov 03 2017 03:54 PM The font that Reno is written is outdated. Something like the old sign on Lake street is more classic and wont look
outdated so soon.
Nov 03 2017 03:47 PM I was born in Reno in 1980 and have lived my whole life here. I remember when this arch went up, and how much cooler it
was than the old one. I like the idea of the new color changing lights if for no other reason, than to try to recreate that
excitement of something new and cool that I experienced as a kid for this generation. For the sides I picked stainless steel
but I might actually prefer aluminum. Just depends on which of the two looks more silver. We are after all, the silver state.

Nov 03 2017 02:51 PM Please maintain the sign as it is currently.
Thank you.
Nov 03 2017 02:42 PM I do like the idea of the sign representing our state colors of blue and silver

Nov 03 2017 02:16 PM The light bulbs should be considered for color changes. I get requests all the time for different colors than red, white or

Nov 03 2017 01:15 PM I know Reno is art town, but I dont think the city should pay for art. There is plenty of other things the city should pay for,
like beautifying the river corridor.... That should be priority one.
Nov 03 2017 01:05 PM Stop spending money on refresh projects!!

Reno Arch Refresh Survey Comments - 12-11-17
Nov 03 2017 12:21 PM The part of the arch I like the least is the very outdated font lettering used for RENO. It looks very 1980s and changing out
the actual letters used for RENO would probably improve the look & modernize the arch more than any of the color
combos/type of lights being planned.
Nov 03 2017 12:05 PM The current sign is somewhat dated in its color scheme. The new arch needs to be more modern and I think the options
you have provided can help get us there.

I appreciate the effort to update the sign. However, this is the most iconic spot in Reno and holds a lot of meaning to
Reno residents. Please make every effort to maintain the original style of the sign, while also updating a few elements to
spruce it up. I would hate to see a sign that is unrecognizable as Reno's iconic image.
Nov 03 2017 11:58 AM This is a much needed investment. They should change the topper too!
Nov 03 2017 11:48 AM The lower level legs are scratched, dented and damaged. They should be a solid brushed surface which would help
prevent people from climbing through the openings. Also the sparkler feature at the top should be replaced with
something updated and artistic.

Nov 03 2017 11:47 AM Build a new Reno arch at few major entrances to down town of modernized replicas of the 1930s, 1950s, Reno signs that

Nov 03 2017 11:40 AM After watching the video with your city planner with everyone being unsure what type of lights to use. I suggest for a LED
that you are able to change colors on the fly you look into the WS2812 or SK6812 LED styles. This protocol has the
widest array of colors and will not need maintenance.

If you have any questions/looking for input please shoot me an email at rob.mckay@igt.com (I like lights/LED art so its
been a hobby)
Nov 03 2017 11:39 AM Please use LED lights. Low cost, long life, kind to the environment and your constituent's wallets
Nov 03 2017 11:35 AM I love the idea of being able to change the color due to holidays and events.
Nov 03 2017 11:31 AM It would be nice if colors could be adjusted for Holidays and special events.
Nov 03 2017 11:19 AM I think we have more important things to worry about!!!
Nov 03 2017 11:17 AM Touch it up But keep it the same
Nov 03 2017 11:15 AM I like the change to Blue, considering UNR's colors (versus the red in UNLV). A Blue/Silver look would match the college
colors. Adding color changes is a nice to have that would enable the city to "dress up" the sign for seasonal touches;
however, it would also change the branding, so it's up to the City to make that call.

Nov 03 2017 10:47 AM The Sign should be restored not upgraded. I also need to point out that while I understand the necessity Reno needs so
many other things such as better roads, additional roads in and out of the North Valleys. It is hard to care about little
things like this when those of us in the North Valleys live with traffic delays every single morning. But, since this is the
cities biggest concern at this moment, Yes, Please restore it. It is what gives our town it's character and is one of the few
historic items we have left. Let everything else be modern and with the times but please keep our sign a piece of our
history.
Nov 03 2017 10:47 AM
It is good to know that the City of Reno has solved all the problems in Reno ( homelessness, lack of affordable housing,
drugs, crime ect, ect). It is also good to know that the City of Reno's coffers are overflowing with so much as that they
can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on the Reno Arch that I am sure most of the people who live Reno and
tourist think looks fine. There is an old adage...."if its not broke, don't fix it" Please Reno....spend MY money wisely!!
Nov 03 2017 10:44 AM If you don't do # 4, at least change the faces and retrofit the Fluorescent lamps to LED lighting.
Nov 03 2017 10:43 AM As Northern Nevada (and particularly U. of Nevada) embraces the Battle Born and silver and blue more and more, I'd like
to see the colors of the arch primarily follow suite. I voted to keep the neon over LED's because I love the tradition and
history of neon in Reno. I'd change the color to blue though. It's time for an update.
Nov 03 2017 10:41 AM With the history and contribution of mining in the state maybe one side of the Arch in gold, the other in silver. Perhaps
mining companies would donate the metals.
Nov 03 2017 10:41 AM Add color change-able LEDs to various lights around the sign (all except the letters) so they can be changed for special
causes (pink for cancer, etc.).
Nov 03 2017 10:20 AM This sign is what many people associate with Reno, it's what they take pictures of, and has of sorts become the trademark
if the city. So let's update it to make it as nice and up to date as the rest of our city is becoming!
Nov 03 2017 10:19 AM Did you consider to power the night LEDs with solar panels? The solar panels should charge some batteries during the
day and use there batteries at night with the LED lights. It would be an higher investment in the beginning but then it
would run for almost free, with only some maintenance, for years.
Nov 03 2017 10:10 AM Please dont change it! Just give it the care it needs.
Nov 03 2017 10:01 AM I like the idea of updating the arch; however, I believe the City could find more appropriate ways to spend the funds at the
present time.

Nov 03 2017 08:56 AM As a 27-year old homegrown Renoite, I think the sign should reflect the new life of the city. It should be something future
generations can relate to, not always tied to the past.

Please update the new look.

If you want it to look high-quality, polished aluminum is the only option. Steel will look cheap rather rapidly after its
construction thanks to scratches.

Also, color changing bulbs and a bolder background will match the new era in design.

great idea. It would be nice if the LEDs were also able to slowly cycle and change colors on their own, as well.
Nov 03 2017 08:44 AM Keep Tahoe Blue.
Nov 03 2017 08:34 AM The metal legs should be done in a vertigree finish similar to the mining machine in the silver legacy, it would tie the
structure to the areas mining history, the bases could be a brushed stainless to reflect a clean silver. The lettering then
could incorporate multi colors thus tying the past with the future. Krsto Knezevich .
Nov 03 2017 08:29 AM A blue and silver design would more closely associate with the University of Nevada and since Reno is pushing that we
are a college town it would only make sense that the sign colors be adjusted to match our local school and not that awful
"school" down in Vegas.
Nov 03 2017 08:26 AM Don't spend any more money than is NECESSARY!!!!
Nov 03 2017 08:23 AM Silver and blue seems appropriate for a color scheme as well. Thank you!
Nov 03 2017 08:18 AM I know you guys will never hear the end of people complaining about changing the sign. Don't listen to them! This is a
great idea and fits in with the rebranding of our wonderful city. I beg you not to listen to the vocal minority that will
undoubtably complain about cost and lost nostalgia in regards to changing the sign.

Thank you for reading and thank you for making Reno a better place to live.
Nov 03 2017 08:16 AM Keep costs low, we have bigger fish to fry in this town.
Nov 03 2017 08:14 AM Why "fix" an icon? Leave it alone
Nov 03 2017 08:13 AM No

Nov 03 2017 08:09 AM Hi, I just moved here from california to work at the Tesla Gigafactory and so far being here for a month I can say my
coworkers at the factory, about 70 percent are from out of town. Anyway Reno is changing for the better so in light of this
fresh new change lets continue to innovate and make Reno great!
Nov 03 2017 08:01 AM
The Arch is 30 Years old. I would love to see a new one for the 21st century. ( yes ????, but this is what we do in Reno)
Nov 03 2017 07:54 AM Make the "biggest little city in the world" section programmable so that it can also say "welcome..." for events.
Nov 03 2017 07:54 AM Because Nevada is the 'Silver State', some incorporation of that color should be noted. Additionally, this sign is known for
its red color and neon lights. I think many Nevadans would appreciate an homage to the neon lights that continue to
dominate the Reno skyline.
Nov 03 2017 07:37 AM Go Big or go home. The whole style of the arch is very dated and screaming for an upgrade. If we're going to do anything
with it we should make it spectacular!!!
Nov 03 2017 07:18 AM Don't make changes to the concrete bases on each side of the arch as they provide comfortable seating for the junkies
and panhandlers that inhabit downtown Reno.
Nov 03 2017 07:14 AM Change with a touch of old is good for me.
Nov 03 2017 07:11 AM Do this project as economically as possible. No change orders that would increase the cost. Figure this out correctly the
first time and do it right!
Nov 03 2017 07:10 AM I think a complete replacement of the arch in the future to something closer to its roots would be better.
Nov 03 2017 07:03 AM
Scrap the whole thing... clad the sides in Rheinzink like the museum on California St and replace the entire arch with an
arched shaped digital display. Then you could display whatever you wanted including the original look. You could change
its looks for various events, holidays, etc. your proposal will make downtown Reno look even more white trash.
Nov 03 2017 07:02 AM The sign is iconic and historic. I would leave it alone. Or, if it HAS to be updated, just use the UNR colors. Also wouldn't it
be nice to relocate the elder sign from Lake st. to the Midtown district so public could see it. One on So Virginia, And, if
we still have the eldest sign, it could be placed across wells in the Business district. I guess the second generation sign
was sold to Willits Ca. Too bad.
Nov 03 2017 07:02 AM No
Nov 03 2017 06:56 AM Don't worry about a arch remodel. I see that your old Fire Engines spew exhaust all over the place! Take the 250k and
start replacing the fleet!

Nov 03 2017 06:51 AM Please do not waste money on changing the sign. We have other budgetary needs that dwarf this. Additionally, the sign is
not that critical to the cities image. Residents dont view it regularly, and tourists pass by it after a few pictures. We arent
Vegas, lets not be ostentatious like them.
Nov 03 2017 06:45 AM i think the current spotlights speckling the arch should be replaced with smaller, brighter LED lights which would make a
nicer and brighter display.
Nov 03 2017 06:24 AM
The current Arch is known around the world... There is no really good reason to change it. Exceptions would be for
upgrading of the existing Arch with better functionality components without changing the actual character and look.
Nov 03 2017 06:18 AM Have the "The Biggest Little City" etc. appear over a five second period as if the words were being typed..held for ten
seconds, then disappear - repeating in 4 different colors...creating a minute-long cycle.
Nov 03 2017 06:16 AM Several people have noted that the cost of refurbishment due to cost of rewiring may be more expensive than
replacement. Has this been fully considered?
Nov 03 2017 06:06 AM
I would love to see all of downtown get a facelift. If you visit the "old" Vegas...it still has the old charm but tons of people
enjoy being there as well. Keeping the charm of old reno, but updating all of the local business would help with tourism.
Nov 03 2017 05:46 AM When it's lit at night, the R makes the sign look like it says Areno, rather than Reno. The reflection is hideous, IMO as well
as most others I've chatted with about it. Perhaps the color changing will help with the effect.
Nov 03 2017 05:34 AM Keep the majority of the sign the way it is.
Nov 03 2017 05:08 AM Love the idea of being able to change colors! Especially for certain Holidays and such (Christmas Green and Red, Blue
for Nevada home games, etc). The Arch has always been iconic for us born and raised here. Glad to see the council
takes notice.
Nov 03 2017 03:11 AM Keep it classy for us!
Nov 03 2017 02:45 AM take it down.
Nov 03 2017 12:46 AM I don't like change :( the sign is pretty as is, just needs a touch up.
Nov 03 2017 12:20 AM Maybe invest that money in public transportation!
Nov 03 2017 12:08 AM I have lived here all my life & I think it is truly a shame that people think it is nessasary to change every bit of history that
made and continues to make the great citys of Reno Sparks the wonderful place to live that we all love. I personally
remember that before the Silver Legacy was there it was a grocery store called Mayfair Market & before that it was called
Sewells , other than a couple stores downtown Reno ( like Lerners , Pennys, Gray Reids , Thom McAnns , & Woolworths
, & ok I cant remember the name but there was a western store with a wooden side walk/entrance on Sierra . Yes I know
thats more than a couple ) , but other than those I remember when we all got so excited about K-Mart on Oddie Blvd
opening because now we could shop here and not have to go to Sacramento . Yes for me this is a sensitive subject and I
could go on and on , like how one of my first jobs was sewing napkins for the Eldorado when they first came to Reno &
then worked at Mayfair Market for five years. Ok enough already , sorry but really enough already to changing everything
about our city! Im not saying all change is bad but when you completely wipe out all the things that make us who we are
and how we got here I very strongly say again ENOUGH ALREADY ! I am very proud of where I live past and present!
Nov 03 2017 12:03 AM No
Nov 02 2017 11:26 PM Nothing is wrong with current sign. I think we should leave it alone as its history. Things dont always have to change.
Save money for something much more important.
Nov 02 2017 11:24 PM Make Reno a better place to live, a place called home
Nov 02 2017 11:23 PM Keep it the same as it is! There is no reason to change the Arch, and no reason to spend a bunch of money doing so.
There's nothing wrong with it as it is now.
Nov 02 2017 11:22 PM Don't change it
Nov 02 2017 11:21 PM silver and blue are Reno colors
Nov 02 2017 11:20 PM have it blue and grey for the university students
Nov 02 2017 11:20 PM The arch is too iconic to alter.
Nov 02 2017 11:19 PM The Reno arch has always be red which is not a Reno or northern Nevada color. I like the idea of the led lights that can
change colors. This way the city can support many charities and groups via the changing colors
Nov 02 2017 11:10 PM No
Nov 02 2017 10:56 PM Perhaps improving/cleaning up the area just around the arch might help the overall look. It's a little icky.
Nov 02 2017 10:43 PM Make it so the Reno Arch can transform into a giant robot that can protect us from our enemies to the west.
Nov 02 2017 10:41 PM Lets make sure all the lights actually light up please lmao
Nov 02 2017 10:39 PM
Have the colors match the University. Reno is becoming more of a college town. Red is for UNLV. This is UNR. BLUE
Nov 02 2017 10:33 PM This is a lot of money that could be spent more appropriately elsewhere. Disappointed in our city.
Nov 02 2017 10:22 PM It's an iconic look, keep it as it is!
Nov 02 2017 10:20 PM I think you should replace the neon lights but don't change the color.
Nov 02 2017 10:15 PM No
Nov 02 2017 10:07 PM Please use variable colors for Reno and the phrase and get rid of the gold arches. We have variable colors for Christmas
lights at my house. The city should splurge for the same on the arch. Also, the gold just screams senior citizen, lets
freshen up the look.
Nov 02 2017 10:06 PM Update it with led technology to be able to adjust it many ways or have the lighting changing constantly.

Nov 02 2017 09:58 PM
Don't change the iconic sign. Maybe some nice new metal legs because, who does want those? Am I right?!

But seriously, I feel like this money could go towards much better things such as building a homeless shelter; buying a
village of tiny homes; bikeshare; a college grant for under-privileged youths; a green bike lane; about 4.1 Space Whales
(for a year).
Nov 02 2017 09:55 PM Thank you for doing survey.
Nov 02 2017 09:55 PM Reno needs neon. Keep neon! Also, blue and white associates the city too much with the university - while I am a proud
Alma mater, Reno should have something of an identity separate from UNR.
Nov 02 2017 09:20 PM Silver and Blue!
Nov 02 2017 09:10 PM The arch is the statement of Reno itself. The downtown glitz feel, the modern day capabilities that will keep it moving
through the 21st century. It is ok to modernize without sacrificing the feel of the arch so many people are familiar with.
Tourists may balk at something too far off from what they have seen on media.
Nov 02 2017 09:08 PM Improve the star stop the sign. Brighter lights maybe. Keep the traditional look of the sign overall. It fits the classic city.

Nov 02 2017 09:06 PM I think its a waste of money. There are several things our city could use the money on. I also think renting the whale is the
biggest load of garbage and wage of money. It is so ugly and does nothing for our city.
Nov 02 2017 09:00 PM Nope
Nov 02 2017 08:59 PM Reno has a lot of art influence on different events in town as well as burning man. Reno is the biggest little city, but it's
becoming a much more open minded and crafted city. We should represent that in the colors we use to refurbish the sign.
Make the Reno arch welcome in every walk of life to our most favorite biggest little city.
Nov 02 2017 08:59 PM Include energy savings or increases in survey
Nov 02 2017 08:55 PM Clean up downtown too
Nov 02 2017 08:45 PM We have got to figure out how to rid the city of all the pan handlers on the corners. Promote non smoking establishments
and support them.
Nov 02 2017 08:45 PM No
Nov 02 2017 08:40 PM Thank you!
Nov 02 2017 08:34 PM The arch just previous to this one (now in Willits) was by far the best design. Its a travesty that we allowed it to be
dismantled and shipped away. Id love to see a historical preservation project (or replica) around that arch.
Nov 02 2017 08:24 PM Take the Arch down and put something new there. More modern design.
Nov 02 2017 08:18 PM N/A
Nov 02 2017 08:17 PM The arch is an icon of our city, there is no need for major upgrades like changing colors. A repaint job would be just fine! I
rather us use the money on another upgrade to the city.
Nov 02 2017 08:17 PM Hurry up and do this!!! Very exciting
Nov 02 2017 08:16 PM Perhaps look into the star above RENO lights?
Nov 02 2017 08:09 PM No
Nov 02 2017 08:06 PM I can think of MANY other things to throw money at instead of redoing the arch so dang frequently.
Nov 02 2017 08:02 PM I love the idea of changing the colors of the letters for different holidays and events. Otherwise, our current colors for
everything are just fine, but silver and blue would embrace the Wolfpack.
Nov 02 2017 07:59 PM Eco friendly LED
Nov 02 2017 07:48 PM How about updating the font for "Reno"
Nov 02 2017 07:47 PM No
Nov 02 2017 07:47 PM I love that the city is updating this iconic Reno fixture and hope they also realize that spending more money to be more
versatile is worth it. LOVE RENO and the arch
Nov 02 2017 07:43 PM Its too gawdy. It needs to be more industrial and less Las Vegas. Reno needs to shed the cheesy gambling imagine
becuase its more than that.
Nov 02 2017 07:41 PM
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring this sign into the 21st century. It's cool and kitschy, but we also need to rebrand and
grow up in every way possible. Keeping the charm of the old sign with a nod to the present will really help begin to
transform that part of downtown. Please don't be deterred by the naysayers and get this done!
Nov 02 2017 07:28 PM Love this idea AND the opportunity to provide input. Thank-you!
Nov 02 2017 07:24 PM No
Nov 02 2017 07:19 PM no
Nov 02 2017 07:14 PM Add two more star thingys like the one at the top center to the top of the two arch legs.
Nov 02 2017 07:11 PM No
Nov 02 2017 07:10 PM Put the old sign in a more prominent position!
Nov 02 2017 07:09 PM You might fix some of the sidewalks with that money.
Nov 02 2017 07:08 PM No
Nov 02 2017 07:08 PM Make the peripheral white lights 'twinkle'.

Nov 02 2017 07:00 PM Thank you

Nov 02 2017 06:59 PM Leave Reno alone. Hillary Skeevy is a dogshit mayor. Quit trying to make this place California.
Nov 02 2017 06:58 PM
Don't spend city funds (which could be spent more effectively elsewhere) fixing something that doesn't need to be fixed!!!!
Nov 02 2017 06:58 PM Don't screw the sign up!!!

Please don't change it for the sake of change and spending money. The sign is awesome the way it is honestly
Nov 02 2017 06:46 PM Good to have this updated -- its way past due for a new look
Nov 02 2017 06:42 PM As a long time resident, I believe that the arch should have double the amount spent on its refreshing .Our world famous
arch looks like a 1970s retro monument. A more modern look will show Reno is a modern city with a modern identity. Not
just another tourist town, but a town that uses its people, its surroundings, its past and its future to better the lives of its
citizens. Michael,
Nov 02 2017 06:39 PM Thanks for updating
Nov 02 2017 06:39 PM I like the arch the way it is!
Nov 02 2017 06:33 PM Thanks for asking for input
Nov 02 2017 06:32 PM
before you focus on this particular project the city needs to free the hands and motivate RPD to once and for all eliminate
the bums from setting up their panhandling stations on the base of the arch, among everywhere else in town. I live
downtown and am greatly embarrassed for our cities view in the eyes of tourism and tourists. YES- I hear the comments
daily. It is time to remove this entourage of parasitic scum. Have a backbone! Then you can start inprovements
Nov 02 2017 06:30 PM It's about time.
Nov 02 2017 06:29 PM
How about building a walk bridge so traffic doesnt have to stop and people can get a picture standing behind the Reno.
Nov 02 2017 06:23 PM ??
Nov 02 2017 06:20 PM The phrase, "The Biggest Little City in the World" needs to be changed to-- "Just Another Crowded City". Seriously.
This place is getting too big too fast thanks to uncontrolled growth.
Nov 02 2017 06:18 PM Hire some unemployed painters to paint the sign for a quarter of your proposed price.
Nov 02 2017 06:16 PM Tear down ghe city, widen the dtreets to 4 lanes, but lesve yhe arch alone. Neon is classic Nevada signage. Stop
dumbing done our meyhods to get into the city to save the big tax payers, the Casino industry.
Nov 02 2017 06:13 PM Your designs are terrible. The existing one looks much better than those. The only thing what makes it looks old is the
gold part and the lightning system. Get rid of the gold color, replace the lights with some sort of led strips. That is how you
will get the best option.
Nov 02 2017 06:13 PM Leave it alone and quit wasting money! Cosmetic change won't help downtown
Nov 02 2017 06:12 PM
The actual letters of RENO should be changed. Almost anything would be better. I'm quite partial to the lettering of the
original arch, but whatever changes are made, I would put that as being number one for any changes. Disco has been
dead for a very long time, and the current letters don't need to be a memorial to it. Not mentioned was the silly ball on top,
which, along with Disco, should be retired as well. Simply leaving that off the top could also save money.
Nov 02 2017 06:11 PM Keep the originial
Nov 02 2017 06:10 PM If possible, switch the neon/other lights to high lumen, color changing LED's. This would save the city a ton in electricity
costs and LED's last years!
Nov 02 2017 06:04 PM No
Nov 02 2017 06:04 PM I think updating the sign is a good idea, I wouldve liked to be able to provide better options though. I think some wooden
accent piece options would be nice and help bring attention that were not just an industrial, or casino city, but an outdoors
one as well.
Nov 02 2017 05:55 PM Down the road, the arch should be completely redesigned. It looks very dated. Design something iconic in a park setting
for community/tourist events.
Nov 02 2017 05:55 PM Change all the bulbs that surround the sign to multi color. Lights with sparkles on top
Nov 02 2017 05:48 PM The north is the blue and silver -- change out the rebels red and gray as it belongs in vegas.
Nov 02 2017 05:46 PM I like the color changing ideas very much. It will allow us to have a fresh sign that still keeps our Biggest Little City
heritage
Nov 02 2017 05:45 PM Get rid of that awful spinning ornament on the top of the arch. It looks like A chandelier from the 1970s
Nov 02 2017 05:45 PM Digitalize the lower arch: Welcome Bowlers, Happy New Year, etc etc ... defaults to Biggest Little City
Nov 02 2017 05:36 PM No
Nov 02 2017 05:33 PM Love the idea of making the colors versatile for special events... such as homecoming, breast cancer awareness month,
law enforcement week, etc, etc.
Nov 02 2017 05:22 PM If the lights/neon is not broke then why fix it? Keep the costs low while still preserving the sign please.
Nov 02 2017 05:08 PM Yes, re-design the arch so it doesn't scream "1985". The basic design was bad when it was installed, and now it just looks
old. No color will fix that. Put it out as a design competition. You'll get some much better options!
Nov 02 2017 05:06 PM Not at this time
Nov 02 2017 04:58 PM Put changing leds on the star points. Also with leds make the sign programmable during downtown events. Example
Italianfest colors of Italy flag. Pride rainbow. Etc
Nov 02 2017 04:52 PM Sign should be blue and silver foir wolf pack
Nov 02 2017 04:41 PM NA
Nov 02 2017 04:37 PM Make it so you can color change the individual areas or add movement the light movement!
Nov 02 2017 04:34 PM I like the sign mostly the way it is. The gold on the legs could be replaced with silver or some such color.
Nov 02 2017 04:28 PM Although there is added additional cost to adding the color changing lights, I think it is a good investment that way
depending on events etc. the lights could be changed. Plus if we are updating it anyways it's better to do it all at once,
rather than it looking only half done. I also believe going to a blue lettering would tie the sign into the rest of the
beautification the rest of the city has (nature etc.)

Reno Arch Refresh Survey Comments - 12-11-17
Nov 02 2017 04:25 PM I suggest the City hold a design competition to rebrand. Give a prize money & have downtown developers contribute
funds. Have people vote using social media. Everyone will have an opinion - ignore the naysayers. Could be fun & the
design would be organic to the community.
Nov 02 2017 04:17 PM I think people are tired of cosmetic changes and would prefer meaningful change to this city. We have resolvable
problems from homelessness, addiction, over crowding, and infrastructure. Fill the potholes, get our children school
supplies, or fund rehabilitation. You could offer small stipends to local artists who can lively up the city at a fraction of
the proposed costs of TEMPORARY artwork.

Reno has appeal to many people and art is only one of many reasons people visit or live here. Nurture the roots, dont
paint the leaves.
Nov 02 2017 04:15 PM There's no need to change the reno sign in order to modernize it. It is so iconically Reno in every way, and changing it
would, to me, feel like trying to change Reno's image. The arch is such a perfectly quirky image of Reno and it feels
wrong to change it
Nov 02 2017 04:11 PM We should focus on embracing our heritage. We should stop trying to change our Reno culture.
Nov 02 2017 04:08 PM Keep it as it is. It is the symbol of Reno in its exact color scheme, neon, and design. It would be like changing the color
scheme, neon, and design of the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign. Icons do not change, they stay as a constant
guiding light.
Nov 02 2017 04:02 PM The arch is so recognizable now. Please keep it the same as a nod to Renos history.
Nov 02 2017 04:02 PM Mayor Schieve is hot!
Nov 02 2017 04:02 PM
How about you save the money on the arch and ridiculously wasteful art project like a temporary whale, and spend some
money on our police force or ways to get rid of our exploding homeless population and crazy violent gang problem.
Seems like Id rather have money devoted to stopping the nightly drive by shootings we have rather than worrying about
what color the RENO sign can change to. City council needs their priorities to align with the citizens, not the tourists.
Nov 02 2017 04:00 PM
I love the idea of changing the color scheme to match different events and world news, so that the arch has different
looks over time, relevant to current events. I would prefer all the LEDs to be programmable to different colors, so that
rainbows/chasing lights could be options and not just solid colors for each individual word/phrase.
Nov 02 2017 03:56 PM If the lettering for "RENO" and "THE BIGGEST LITTLE CITY IN THE WORLD" are going to change colors, then it makes
sense to keep the background a neutral color (white) so that it pairs well with whatever color is chosen for the letters that
week.
Nov 02 2017 03:56 PM
I think that the lines of neon are the most important aspect to keep. I would be ok with the color changing if there were still
lines. The sign should be blue because blue is the color of the Nevada flag and also UNR's color.
Nov 02 2017 03:55 PM The font on Reno is very dated. It's beyond time to refresh the arch.
Nov 02 2017 03:55 PM Have an electronic scrolling marque so we can add special messages.
Nov 02 2017 03:54 PM
The changing colors would give the city some extra flare -- like the changing colors on the empire state building
Nov 02 2017 03:50 PM Updating the arch to be more efficient and look better is great! Please remember not to change the feel of arch and the
history that goes with it! Thank you~
Nov 02 2017 03:42 PM Why not just build a whole new sign?
Nov 02 2017 03:42 PM North.

When UNR basketball goes to the NCAA someone wants to change to colors to blue. When it is St. Patrick's day
someone wants to change the colors to green. Using color changing bulbs and a computer program so St. Pat gets
green, Earth Day gets green or blue. Breast Cancer Awareness gets pink. July 4 gets red, white and blue. Year end
holidays gets green and red or whatever holiday colors is in vogue. New Years Eve the lights can flash like fireworks at
midnight. Saves money if the colors can be changed with a few keystrokes. And with a decent computer program you
can make the underneath of the sign look like a flag for Flag Day, Vets day and other patriotic days. Make it wave also.
If you are going to spend the money do it right.

And make a place for people to pose in front of the sign. The Vegas sign has a traffic island where people can stand and
take pictures without having to dodge cars. If that means closing the street then do it. I know the complaints of closing
the street by merchants saying that it cuts off vehicle traffic but I have to ask - how many parking spaces are there in front
of the t-shirt store? At least make a traffic island in the center turn lane. Why have a sign when you don't have a place
for them to take photos unless you want to dodge traffic?

Nov 02 2017 03:42 PM please don't change it!
Nov 02 2017 03:41 PM Focus on 'Silver State' instead of gold.
Nov 02 2017 03:40 PM The installation of pedestrian crossing lights would add additional benefit to this location as drivers are distracted looking
at the Arch, and pedestrians may also be distracted by the landmark.
Nov 02 2017 03:38 PM Don't spend money on this. Take care of the homeless and tweakers hanging out around the sign instead.
Nov 02 2017 03:37 PM No
Nov 02 2017 03:35 PM Tear it down and build a brand new arch.
Nov 02 2017 03:28 PM Direct lighting directed at the2 feet of the arch.
Nov 02 2017 03:27 PM Smart LED lights (aka individually addressable like the sides of the GSR ) provide an opportunity for the arch to do cool
things or honor special occasions. hopefully the community will be invited to help program them on occasion. Reno has a
lot of LED artist around in the Burningman scene.

Nov 02 2017 03:26 PM Change is good!
Nov 02 2017 03:25 PM Leave the sign be. It is iconic as it is and I have to believe the city has better things to spend the money on.
Nov 02 2017 03:23 PM LED lightbulbs would be more energy efficient. Maybe have those structure lights include a sequence or transitional color
changing modes like LED strings you find at the store
Nov 02 2017 03:20 PM STOP SPENDING MONEY ON UNNECESSARY EXPENSES LIKE THIS SIGN AND THE ARTWORK IN RENO. HELP
THE VETERANS, HOMELESS AND GET RID OF ALL THE PANHANDLING FIRST!!!!!!!
Nov 02 2017 03:19 PM Change the font of Reno
Nov 02 2017 03:13 PM
Please, there are so many more pressing issues that must be addressed. How about hiring more cops to walk the beat? I
don't mean only during events, etc. I mean everyday. Maybe with the ramped up presence of more police more locals
would go downtown. Now? No way. I do not feel safe or comfortable in the downtown area. So we avoid it. So this
possible upgrade to the sign is ridiculous when we have so many other issues to fix.
Leave it alone!
Nov 02 2017 03:10 PM No
Nov 02 2017 03:09 PM Please consider changing Reno's official name to Renoy McRenoface.
Nov 02 2017 03:08 PM I also like the option of painting the letters blue with a white or grey background.
Nov 02 2017 03:05 PM Please change the sign. It's look very tacky and now needs a change for our changing city.
Nov 02 2017 03:04 PM Make it campatable for new years.
Nov 02 2017 03:03 PM Go wolf pack
Nov 02 2017 02:56 PM Make "The Biggest Little City In the World" part a ribbon board if possible, that could have special messages like "GO
PACK" or Merry Christmas, a New Years Count Down.
Nov 02 2017 02:53 PM It's time for DT Reno to get out of the 80s! Let's do this!
Nov 02 2017 02:50 PM Change the font to something less ... round and weak. Strong angled letters or more stylized industrial
Nov 02 2017 02:46 PM This cool
Nov 02 2017 02:39 PM
I like the idea of color changing if it is possible to keep the rustic look of the sign. This way during special events or
memorial events the sign can change color to reflect said event. Also I like the change to blue and grey to match the
University of Nevada, Reno since it has a major presence in this city and was instrumental in the growth of this city. I do
like the gold pillars though mainly because, although we are the Silver State, we are the leading producers of gold which
is a little known fact. Anyway I don't know who reads these but can't wait to see how this progresses!
Nov 02 2017 02:37 PM No
Nov 02 2017 02:36 PM Relocate the arch and/or use billboard style like grand sierra
Nov 02 2017 02:35 PM The blue example above with white or grey "biggest little city....". Not interchangeable.
The word Reno should be interchangeable.
Nov 02 2017 02:35 PM How about a complete redesign, and bring the whole arch into the 21st century, More or a digital message board format
(shaped like the Arch) that you could accomplish all of the above with?
Nov 02 2017 02:31 PM By putting in color changing lights it coikc be change ftp different holidays. Like the gsr.
Nov 02 2017 02:26 PM Change it! The arch has a history of being updated/changed, it screams 1980s, reno is a changing city and the arch
should Represent that. What id personally aim for is a vintage design. Think mid-century modern, with modern design
elements. Which would align with contemporary design trends. Give it some class. But keep the vibrant colors I really like
the idea to change the colors. Right now it has a bad 1980s cheesy look.
Nov 02 2017 02:23 PM Instead of the yellow lights down the side, try blue. It looks much cleaner, more inviting, and because of the University it
seems more city supportive.
Nov 02 2017 02:20 PM The current design is pretty dated... I wouldn't mind a total replacement.
Nov 02 2017 02:18 PM The Arch definitely needs to be modernized
Nov 02 2017 02:15 PM Look at changing the font type of RENO to something different.
Nov 02 2017 02:11 PM Ive lived in Reno my whole life and love it how it is!
Nov 02 2017 02:10 PM About darn time.
Nov 02 2017 02:07 PM Leave the arch alone by repainting it the colors it already is. At the most, switch the lighting. What the city needs to worry
about is our homeless issue that will only grow!! Shameful!
Nov 02 2017 02:02 PM Let's get it updated!
Nov 02 2017 02:01 PM Please keep the smaller lights that are all over the arch, they make it looks like it glitters at night and would look great on
the stainless steel.
Nov 02 2017 02:01 PM N/A
Nov 02 2017 01:57 PM Thank You
Nov 02 2017 01:57 PM If you could keep the Reno letters looking like neon but change it to led that would be an idea and then I would agree with
changing the Reno colors.
Nov 02 2017 01:56 PM I love the RENO retro look!
Nov 02 2017 01:55 PM Na
Nov 02 2017 01:52 PM Silver and blue arch with just white and blue lights would be clean and classy!
Nov 02 2017 01:44 PM use the money for more important things for the city - such as helping to update some of the scum hotels/motels that
many homeless have to live in - or help some of our senior citizens with better ways to feed them or help them with
medications.
Nov 02 2017 01:44 PM Use fiber optic/led light for long term success
Nov 02 2017 01:41 PM
It would be neat if the letters RENO were some kind of lcd/montior screen, this way instead of just one color, the letters
could be gradient, have images/patterns in them, or even have moving graphics like elements (fire/water etc.)

Reno Arch Refresh Survey Comments - 12-11-17
Nov 02 2017 01:39 PM Go with the full update, Reno is moving quickly into the 21st century and is changing rapidly as well as growing up,
changing and updating the arch to reflect the latest in color technology and a modern appearance will reflect to the world
the changes underway.
Nov 02 2017 01:38 PM Can the neon be replaced with LED tubes that still look like neon but are color programmable? What about a blue RENO
on a white background?

This survey is hard
Nov 02 2017 01:34 PM Keeping the neon gives a nod to Reno's past as the city evolves.
Nov 02 2017 01:33 PM It's old and outdated like the rest of downtown.
Nov 02 2017 01:26 PM
Although the ability to change the color of RENO is kind of cool, I wouldn't want this to move toward and digital message
board where the wording could change. We just banned digital billboards, let's not go against the voter's initiative.
Nov 02 2017 01:24 PM No
Nov 02 2017 01:15 PM Changing just the light bulbs so you can change those colors would be great. Leave the Wording alone
Nov 02 2017 01:08 PM If you decide to change one of the lights to color changeable, please consider changing BOTH of them (RENO and The
Biggest Little City in the World), not just one. First, it would not be a good look to have one permanent color, and the other
changing. Second, this would give you more options for color pairing. Say it is the Fourth of July, you could change the
colors to red and blue instead of just the one option.
Nov 02 2017 01:08 PM A whole new design would be great! That one is pretty dated, no matter what you do to it. I know that's super expensive
though...maybe a fundraiser? We would donate!
Nov 02 2017 01:07 PM No matter what you choose, someone is going to dislike it. Who cares?! Just do whatever and people will get used to it. I
like the grey and blue because it's like UNR. Like we're a united front when it comes to colors
Nov 02 2017 01:06 PM Twenty pounds of dynamite and a dump truck would be the best idea
Nov 02 2017 12:57 PM possibly sound for special events?
Nov 02 2017 12:56 PM With the possibility of downtown becoming more integrated with the UNR "realm of influence" I think the paint/metal
should be blue and silver as much as possible. ;-)
Nov 02 2017 12:46 PM I love the blue RENO option, I feel it shows an additional level of support for the university of Nevada. Thank you for
putting the funding toward something so iconic in the city!
Nov 02 2017 12:40 PM Keep elements of the old sign in the process of restoring it. But the grey stainless steel would be dope
Nov 02 2017 12:38 PM Modernize the sign. Reno is more and should continue to move in the direction of being more than a gaming town. The
sign should be a symbol of our city moving into the future.
Nov 02 2017 12:36 PM don't make it ugly for the love of god. the arch is one of the only things we have going for us.
Nov 02 2017 12:29 PM I'd like to preserve the historical meaning of the sign as much as possible
Nov 02 2017 12:22 PM It would be very festive to be able to change the colors depending on special events and holidays.
Nov 02 2017 12:19 PM Create flexibility in your renovations such that those who find themselves deeply attached to a classic design can still see
the classic arch. You can do throw back days or something. But being able to change the colors helps us recognize
holidays and events as needed, as a city united.
Nov 02 2017 12:16 PM I don't like the idea of the changeable colors. It would be easy to turn the Arch into a political object, pink for this cause,
green or some other color for another, ect. I don't want to hear or read about controversy about some group being
offended b the decisions to change the colors to make support some movement or cause. The Arch is about Reno being
a great city to be in. Let's not get distracted from that. And, it saves money.
Nov 02 2017 12:15 PM Love this sign!
Nov 02 2017 12:03 PM No.
Nov 02 2017 11:51 AM Please consider adding lights around the arch and on the star above that twinkle.
Nov 02 2017 11:46 AM no
Nov 02 2017 11:33 AM Is there a maintenance plan in place for these upgrades?
Nov 02 2017 11:31 AM
Regarding light colors for "BLC in the World" section - I marked to keep as-is, but I wouldn't use the burgundy background
as I chose the gray/blue "Reno" in question #2; the blue/gray combo would be better if the blue/gray "Reno" is chosen.
Nov 02 2017 11:26 AM The grey and blue scheme would go well and compliment our being part of the Silver State, as well as, the proud home of
UNR.
Nov 02 2017 11:25 AM
I think being able to modify and change the sign's colors in accordance to holidays, events, etc. will ultimately enhance
the downtown experience. But I also think it's important that we're preserving the overall historic "look" of the sign.
Nov 01 2017 11:22 AM Couple of comments: My opinion, if we're going to update the arch, let's truly update it and do the job right, not halfway.
The UNR color scheme is tempting, but I think it looks too "cold" for what's supposed to be a vibrant welcome sign of the
city. If the color changing lights are approved, the white background makes the most sense because how would a red or
blue background look with pink, orange or purple lights? Not too good! Glad to see this project happening. Dave
Sutton, Hidden Valley
11/2/2017 Do something cool on w/the star on top.
11/2/2017 I know blue and silver /c wolfpack (UNR grad) but it just looks wrong in blue!
11/2/2017
No tax money should be spent on this archaic item. It makes the City appear tacky and out of date. Remove it as soon as we can.
11/2/2017 Keep white letters with blue background.
11/2/2017 Nevada Colors!!! LED would save monthly utility cost. LED would save on cost of changing bulbs during special events. Blue and
Silver would go with Downtown wanthing to be the gateway to the university.
11/6/2017 Change the font please, it's too 1970s

Please keep whatever colors you choose "camera friendly" long enough color change period and sky/cloud background concerns.
11/17/2017 Please provide a cost analysis fo "re-branding" city property, memorabillia, paraphenalia and other knick-knacks to reflect any change
in signage color. What is the cost impact to private vendors selling Reno tourism items? I don't want to see a color change for the
signage that would create an exorbitant cost burden to properly reflect the arch.
11/21/2017 I think our city could better sepnd this money on such things as the homeless or traffic enforcement.
12/7/2017 Make it solar powered with battery back up to show Reno's leadership in sustainable tech.
