Research on Guangdong-Hong Kong Cross-border Regional Collaborative Innovation System

Summary: With promotion of the national innovation strategy, the Guangdong-Hong Kong collabora-
tive innovation has ushered in new opportunities. In this paper, on the basis of an overview of the theo-
ries of regional innovation system and the current status, problems and advantages of the Guangdong-
Hong Kong regional innovation development, the mechanism of action of the Guangdong-Hong Kong
regional innovation system is discussed. Cointegration and the Granger test are employed to analyze the
mutual influence and improvement of innovation capacities of Guangdong and Hong Kong. A spatial au-
tocorrelation analysis is made to analyze the innovation capacity distribution and correlation of each re-
gional unit in Guangdong and Hong Kong. We may find that favorable interactions between the two in-
novation systems in Guangdong and Hong Kong have been formed. However, judging from the integra-
tion of their innovation systems and deep collaboration and cooperation, the collaboration between the
two innovation systems of Hong Kong and Guangdong still has huge space for improvement. In accor-
dance with empirical results, countermeasures and recommendations are put forward from five aspects:
institutional collaboration, service collaboration, platform collaboration, project collaboration and factor
collaboration.

An Analysis of Macaos Competitiveness as a World Center of Tourism and Leisure: Theory and

Summary: In the world economy development, the tourism and leisure industry has an significant stra-
tegic position. The building of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) into a world center of tour-
ism and leisure is an important component of the national development strategy of China. Tosupport
Macaos aspirations to build a World Centre of Tourism and Leisurehas been proposed in both the na-
tional12th five-yearplan and the13th five-yearplan. The macroscopic orientation of Macao as a
world center of tourism and leisure is favorable to Macaos economic and social sustainable develop-
ment. Based on the theory of the general characteristics of the world center of tourism and leisure, an
objective description about the current development situation of Macaos competitiveness as a world
center of tourism and leisure has been given. Using the method of econometric analysis, this paper has
empirically evaluated Macaos competitiveness as a world center of tourism and leisure and put for-
ward the ways to enhance such competitiveness of Macao.
