Our Mission
Our Mission is to bring technology education to those in
the Youhanabad area, so that they might be
empowered and enabled to create a prosperous future
for themselves and their families.

We are currently working with The Beracha Foundation
to better our technical ability to maintain and run our
school. They have partnered with us, providing us a
generous matching gift donation for our technological
needs. They are matching every dollar donated to us

Problems We Face
The challenge we face is our young students equipping
themselves with Information Technology (IT). IT has
revolutionized the world, including Pakistan, and
Youhanabad in particular. The computer is the primary
approach to providing everyone an opportunity to
improve their lives.
REF has been dedicated to working fulltime in
Youhanabad Lahore Pakistan. It is one of the largest
Christian colonies with over fifteen thousand families.
This area is currently suffering from a complexity of
problems. The primary problem being economic
poverty. More than 80% of the earnings is only
RS.54,000 in comparison to per capita income reported
by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as US $2,803
(RS.168,180). This is leading to drop-outs at all levels
of education, and preventing more than 25,000 young
boys and girls from equipping themselves with
knowledge in computer technology to create a better
future for themselves. Therefore preventing them from
achieving an increased in per capita income. By
partnering with us you have a chance to change the
lives of those in our community by helping us bring the
needed education to these young people.
Our Solutions
We aim to remediate the problem of poverty in our
area by providing needed education for our students so
they have access to better jobs. This enables them to
better provide for themselves and those around them.
We provide needed technological education because
many in our area are unable to finish their schooling or
continue it once they have completed their basic
education.

Our Success Stories
The following are three stories from people who were
greatly impacted by the REF program.
“Let me introduce myself. My Name is Sunita
Munzoor and I was the student in Renaissance
Education Foundation (REF) in 2001. I completed a
one year diploma in computer science (DCS). It was
a great experience for me to get computer education.
According to my family’s financial position, I couldn’t
move forward in society, Renaissance Education
Foundation (REF) offered different computer courses
to the needy in Youhanabad’s area. It was the light of
hope for the area of Youhanabad as it was for me.
We got admission in this school on December 12, 1996.
At that time this school gave a chance to poor girls to
study and come forward to raise their hands for their
rights and to get quality education. To get admission we
left my previous school from fourth grade and got
admission. While spending ten years in this school we
have gained tolerance, confidence, courage to face the
realities and difficulties of life, character building,
creativity, knowledge, discipline and also a lot of
enjoyment.

After one year I proudly declare that I successfully

earned a diploma in computer sciences. After
completion of my computer education REF helped
me to find a good job. It was there policy to give jobs
to the best student of the year, and I am pleased to
inform you that I was the most successful girl of the
college. I got a job in the government sector where
Christians couldn’t get jobs. Now I am the only
learned lady in my family facing many opportunities
because of God's blessings and REF College who
gave me the opportunity to uplift my family.”

Another story is written by Kaiynnat Nadeem:

“I along with a team of dedicated students visited our

nearest community “Asif town”. We visited some
families who do not send their children to school and
we tried to spread the awareness of education and
encouraged them to send their children to school.
During our visitation we visited a family. The father of
three children (Humaira, Mehvish and Abram) was at
home, but when he saw us he vanished. We thought
that he h ad gone to bring cold drinks for us but there
was another reason. When still there after 20 minutes
he was not back we were informed that he was at the
shop. We went to the shop to bring him back to the
home but he was not there. Then somebody again
informed us he was on the roof of his house. We
went to the roof and made him agree to discuss their
problem. When he was ready, he came back to his
home and the discussion started. During the
discussion we came to know that he had torn the
bags, books, and uniforms of his children, and he had
certain clashes with his wife and his children were the
target of those clashes. However we tried to solve
their clashes and they were ready to send their
children to school. Then another problem appeared.
They said, “We are poor and cannot afford the
expenditures of school”. So we looked for the
reliable sources within the community and collected
some money for them. We provided them uniforms,
bags and books and they were able to continue with
their studies. Now the children are back to school and
studying well. Now they are preparing themselves for
their second term examination.”
Finally here is a story from two young ladies whose
lives were dramatically changed for the better:
“We are Amber and Iram Nasir. Recently we have
done our matriculation. We have an excellent ten
years experience in Renaissance Education
Foundation (REF).We also have an experience of
studying in another private school that did not have
qualified staff nor many facilities or activities for the
students. There was not any creative work. They
gave lots of homework and also beat the students.
We did not like that school.
This school provides us many facilities and activities like,
music, art and needlecraft, computer training, cooking,
interior decoration, educational trips and many more
things. We also got to go on many field trips with the
school.
The person whom we liked very much is Madam Amina
Nadeem, she was our principal. She is a marvelous and
charming lady. She taught us manners, to be brave, how
to move in our society and how to face the difficulties and
realities in life. In these ten years we have participated in
different projects. We participated in a recipe writing
competition and received a certificate, we participated in
many Art competitions and we received certificates e.g.
inspire, Peace, No war and weapons etc. We participated
in many Science projects like a project held at Science
Museum where we displayed our project “Doll House”.
We have gained much confidence and self-respect by
participating in these projects. This school provides us a
platform where we can show our capabilities while
working in different projects such as “Open House”,
“Sports Day”, “Parents Day” etc. We have different
projects to present to the parents and visitors who come
to watch us. We worked on these projects in a peaceful
atmosphere with a peace of mind and with our own
thinking using our own mind. We enjoyed working on
these projects. It was a great experience.
Our aspiration for the future is to be doctors. This is our
wish and also our parents’ dream. We want to be doctors
because we want to help the poor when they need
medicine and they don’t have money and they die
because of the disease. We pray to God and also work
hard to achieve our target and we hope our dreams
come true one day.
