Statement of Purpose

Our age is officially termed as the Digital Age, thanks to the ubiquitous presence of computers. I
remember being exposed to the computers at the age of 10. (added period) I was keen to know this
machine inside out. Growing up, I have enjoyed playing games on computer and have often used
to download open source codes of games like 2048 and to make my own version of the game. I feel
compelled to carve out a niche for myself in the connected world of technology. After pursuing
four years of my Bachelors, I feel that the knowledge that I have been able to assimilate till date in
this field is just a droplet in a vast ocean. Thus, at this threshold of my career, I believe a Masters
Degree would be a definite feather in the cap as I need to enhance my horizons in the subject.

While studying computer engineering, I got deeply inspired by the idea of start-ups and
entrepreneurships. This allowed me to attend some start-up summits. While a start-up idea of an
android app was evolving in my mind, a competition called The Most Innovative Project Idea
Competition was announced in my college. I and my teammates presented the idea of an android
app Rakht Save Lives that decreases the number of deaths occurring due to unavailability of
blood. A personal experience was the motivation behind this app idea. Someone I know(or knew?)
had passed away due to unavailability of blood at the right time(at the right time?). Hence, we came
up with the idea of providing a platform where someone who is in need of blood on urgent basis
can contact a person who is available for donating blood, hospitals and blood banks(Can we add
something here that shows that this is done in seconds? Because there are some directories with
phone numbers and people can use it contact others but we have made this such that everything
happens in efficiently and quick). The application could decrease the number of deaths due to
unavailability of blood by 47.7%. We won the competition and got an opportunity to get funded by Commented [M1]: Kindly review this.
the University. Not only this, but our project story was also published in a few newspapers and
local news channels. This particular experience strengthened my desire to delve deeper in the field
of Computer Science.

In June 2017, I was invited to be a speaker (teacher) for two days at the summer school of DA- Commented [M2]: Month and year like July, 2017.
IICT, which was organized by IEEE. Here, I completed ____ hours of teaching web-development
to 200 students (benefit in adding that students were from IITs, NITs?) from all over India. I was
also one of the jury members for the final day competition. I always had a predilection for
programming. Once, while going through online programming websites, I stumbled upon a
Hackathon called Angel Hack, which was to be held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As I had
already visited Malaysia earlier for an internship (volunteering) in an NGO, I decided to visit again.
For the competition, I collaborated with three international participants and led the team to create
HireSolve. Our team was one of the 6 finalists out of 100 participants. The prototype built at
Hackathon, soon became a funded start-up idea.

With the knowledge gained from my experience of managing a start-up, I worked with more than
30 companies (companies or startups?) as a Marketing Consultant. I assisted them in content
creation, content marketing, paid ads, SEO, social media marketing, email marketing, viral
marketing, traffic generation, growth hacking, and various tools and strategies. I was responsible to
help these companies increase their visibility and get more audience (and customers? because thats
what matters, right?). The duration of my work depended on the requirement of the work(Duration
of work depended on work?) ranging from one to a couple of months. These companies included e-
commerce stores, start-ups and an INC500 company. In order to augment my knowledge of
marketing, I learned Google Adwords and cleared their (their or Googles?) exam to get certified
(as) Google Adwords Manager. Other than this, I have also self-published a book called Growth
hack you start-up from 0 to 10k in a month.

For my final year academic project, I worked with BISAG a government institute operating in
space and geo-informatics. My project, Text Image Recognition, was a software designed for
recognizing text image. I used python language for this project. Also, I have attended various
workshops at organizations like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi and Microsoft Azure Camp which
deepened my interest in computer technology. Out of my interest in writing, and assisting people
with my knowledge and experience, I wrote several answers to questions on Quora.com, and was
also selected as most viewed writer for the topic Sorting Algorithms.

The questions that plague my mind are about the working of computer networks, various
communication protocols, networking devices, services and security measures. I wish to understand
their functioning, and work on projects that explore and innovate on ideas. I have chosen to apply Commented [M3]: To be reviewed. Keep it only if this is

In the long-run I aim to help human-kind by using technology to bring advancement in the way
people live. Technology, specifically computer science, opens infinite possibilities of
