Configuration, and Maintenance of network addressing using Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR)
Principles; network routing using Interior Gateway Protocols; Switching Concepts; Spanning Tree Protocol
(STP); Virtual Local-Area Networks (VLANs), and VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP). The concepts covered
will enable the student to develop practical experience in skills related to Network Addressing, Configuring
LANs and Interior Gateway Protocols (IGP), and network troubleshooting. This course will cover the Cisco
Network Academy curriculum Semesters 3. This course is designed to be hands-on and students will be
expected to know the basics of Cisco's IOS.

Qualification Obtained
On successful completion of CCNA 3 the student can then embark upon CCNA 4. The combination of
CCNA 1 and 2 are CISCO's minimum requirement to enable a student to branch out into other areas
such as security, Voice Over IP and wireless technologies.
To obtain full CCNA certification students will need to complete CCNA 4 which will provide the full CCNA
syllabus. This then provides an excellent pathway either into full time employment or as an access to our
Higher Education courses in Networking Engineering (Security Administration) or Networking Engineering
(Cyber Security).
Assessments are a combination of online based exams, with resources available for you to check your
own progress, and Cisco certified practical tasks which are completed in our specialised computer network
labs.
You will be expected to attend a one hour introduction enrolment session where you will be introduced to
the software and structure and provided with some revision material.
For home study, you can read each chapter and then measure your own progress using the end of
chapter online quizzes. When you feel confident, you can take the end of chapter online exam. Prior to the
final exam, you can attempt a sample final exam at home
We will closely monitor your progress and then provide 4 two hour sessions to explore theories in more
depth whilst demonstrating the practical elements of the course. You will then complete further home
study before attending another 3 hour training session prior to completing any exams
All resources required for the course will be available with remote access to any equipment needed and
simulation software as required for practical tasks and revision.
