C In the book The Outsiders Johnny is the character who best shows the theme.

In the novel Johnny is abused by his parents and by socs. He isnt seen as anything other
B than a greaser.

E However, in the story Johnny defies his label by saving children in a burning building. He
risked his own life and eventually died to save the kids.

A This act of heroism went beyond being a greaser. Because of Johnnys brave actions he
died a hero, not a greaser. These actions also showed Ponyboy that he could also be more
than just a greaser.

R This is why Johnny is the best character who does the best job showing the theme People
are more than their label.
