VI. BACKGROUND/RATIONALE :

Relative to industry strengthening, expansion and promotion strategy of the cacao industry
in Northern Mindanao, the Northern Mindanao Regional Cacao Development Council
initiated to conduct a meeting in the said date and venue. The participants are the
respective provincial chapter council/association chairman, officers of the Regional Cacao
Industry Council, provincial cacao coordinators and representatives of various partner
agencies.

The activity aims to conduct a review and assessment of the 2017 cacao industry cluster
performance of the respective provinces and the region as a whole. Likewise, the review

and assessment output will be utilized in planning for 2018 activities and projects. Hence,
this event will provide an avenue for a more collaborated and concerted industry-wide
efforts for the development of the cacao industry in the region.
Further, this activity would also serve as a wonderful opportunity to discuss and address
various issues and concerns encountered by the respective provinces. Therefore, with the
presence of the key cacao players, there will be better ways and resolutions generated for
the improvement of the industry cluster.

VII. OBJECTIVES :
The main objective of this activity is to strengthen and capacitate the local key players of
cacao industry in the province of Camiguin. Likewise, this will serve as an avenue to review
and assess the 2017 cacao industry cluster performance and planning for 2018 activities
and projects.
The beneficiary is the Camiguin Cacao Producers and Processors Association being
represented by the Chairman, Hon. Teodulo Pabatao.
