FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

WATERTOWN RAPIDS NAME DAVID ANDERSON HEAD COACH

Watertown, New York December 11, 2017 David Anderson brings a wealth of baseball
knowledge, experience in collegiate league baseball, and connections to college teams to the
Watertown Rapids as its first ever head coach.

Hailing from Syracuse, New York, Anderson currently is an assistant baseball coach at Cornell
University under Dan Pepicelli, working with the pitching staff among other duties with the
program.

David is a great asset to this team, Rapids Owner Mike Schell said. He has a strong track
record of success as a player and coach and is highly motivated to provide a competitive, fun, and
community-engaged team to the Greater Watertown area. He will be a great leader for our
players.

Prior to joining Cornell, Anderson was the pitching coach at Muhlenberg College in Allentown,
Pennsylvania, his alma mater. Under his guidance, the 2017 Muhlenberg pitching staff set its all-
time single season record for strikeouts.

I am extremely thankful for the opportunity that the Watertown Rapids organization has given
me and I cant wait to get started, Anderson said. I look forward to continuing the baseball
tradition in Watertown and providing the community with a quality team both on and off the
field.

Anderson enjoyed a successful career as a pitcher before turning to coaching, leading the
Muhlenberg pitching staff with a 3.14 ERA as a junior. As a senior, while serving as a team
captain, he lead the team in strikeouts and innings pitched.

Between his junior and senior years, Anderson pitched for the Geneva Twins of the New York
Collegiate Baseball League. Anderson put up an outstanding 9-0 record with a 1.03 ERA over 60
innings, earning the starting nod in the leagues All-Star game and First-Team All-League
honors.

After college, Anderson pitched professionally for the Newburgh Newts of the North Country
Baseball League, registering a 2.38 ERA and holding opposing hitters to a .194 batting average.
Anderson followed his time in Newburgh with a stint with the Bridgeport Bluefish during which
he registered a 2.67 ERA.
