The Possible Route: Tooborac - Heathcote

Commencing at Pink Cliffs Road in Heathcote at the southern end of the existing O'Keefe Trail from Bendigo, the possible
route follows the old rail formation south through Heathcote and Argyle. It crosses under the Northern Highway at the old
McIvor rail station and travels along the east side of McIvor Creek until it crosses Majors Line Road. In the town of
Tooborac, the trail diverts out to the Northern Highway road reserve for a short distance until, south of Flagstaff Lane, it re-
joins the old rail formation and continues south towards Pyalong.

The Possible Route: High Camp to Tooborac

After leaving the commercial area of Tooborac and re-joining the old rail formation south of Flagstaff Lane, the route
follows the Turner Creek valley, near Basin Hill Road, and approaches Pyalong via Ladder Hill Road. Upon reaching the
historic Mollison Creek rail bridge, the route leaves the old rail formation and heads west along Bridge Street, under the
Northern Highway at the existing Mollison Creek road bridge, then follows up High Street into the commercial area of
Pyalong. From Pyalong, the route heads east, across the Northern Highway Bypass until just south of Romano Drive, it
heads east to re-join the old railway line near the old railway cutting at Halpin Court. From Pink Cliffs, the trail heads south,
crosses under the Northern Highway via the Percival Creek drainage culvert, past the historic Handfords Creek rail bridge,
south across Percival Creek, under the Northern Highway and up to High Camp.

The Possible Route: Kilmore to High Camp

At High Camp, the trail route passes through the Northern Highway embankment through a proposed underpass, then
passes through the High Camp Flora Reserve. Near Moranding, the trail may need to divert away from the old railway line
for a short distance to avoid existing horse stables close to the line. South of Moranding Road, the route follows the old
formation across Kurkuruc Creek and Boundary Road, skirting along Willomavin Road until it reaches Kings Lane. At Kings
Lane, the trail leaves the old formation and follows road reserves through to central Kilmore, then along the Kilmore Creek
reserve to Tootle Street.

The Possible Route: Wallan to Wandong, Heathcote Junction and Kilmore

Map 4
From Kilmore, the trail follows the old railway line to the tramway museum at the old Bylands railway station. After
crossing Union Lane and Arkells Lane the route skirts along the Great Diving Range. A spur trail runs down to Eastern Ridge
and links through Hidden Valley to Wallan. The main trail continues across Arkells Lane again, under the Hume Freeway
using existing drainage culverts, then links both to Heathcote Junction (via Caledenia Court) and to Wandong (via the Hume
Freeway reserve to Union Lane then along Epping Kilmore Road to central Wandong)
