The pattern : Question word + auxlliary + subject + verb

GERUNDS

A gerunds is a word derived from a verb which is used as a noun.


Gerunds end in ing (singing,dancing,talking,etc) Gerunds may be
used as the subject of a sentence, complement (predicate noun)
direct, object,of a proposition,etc.

Example :

Playing tenis is his hobby (gerund as the subject of the


sentence)
His main interest is hunting (gerund as predica te noun)
They like singing (gerund as the direct subject)
She is good at cooking (gerund as the subject of a preposition)

Some verbs commonly followed by gerunds are :

TOO AND ENOUGH

Toois an adverb of excess. It means excessively.

Too usually has a negative sense . it precedes an adjective.

The pattern : S + To be + too + adjective + For object + To infintive

Example :

This coffee is very hot : I cant drink it


This coffee is too hot (for me) to drink
These boxes are very heavy : I cant carry them
These boxes are too heavy (for me) to carry

We can omit for object so the setences become

This coffee is too hot to drink


These boxes are too heavy to carry

Enough with an adjective means sufficent. It has a positive sense.


Enough comes after an adjective.

The pettern : S + to be + adjective + enough +forobject+ to infintive

We can omit for object after enough

Example :

This water is warm enough for me to take a bath


Denny is tall enough to play on the basket ball team.
