PREGUNTAS INFORMATIVAS (WH- QUESTIONS)

Hay dos tipos de preguntas bsicas: preguntas de s o no (preguntas cerradas), y

preguntas informativas o abiertas. Estas se llaman as porque no es posible contestarlas
con un simple s o no requieren ms informacin. En realidad, el nmero de
respuestas posibles es sin lmite. En ingls se llaman Wh- questions porque todas las
palabras interrogativas comienzan con las letras Wh (con la excepcin de la
palabra HOW).

Aqu son las palabras interrogativas con sus traducciones en espaol. Atencin,
esas traducciones son aproximativas porque en realidad a veces se cambian segn
el contexto.

Who y whom se usan para obtener informacin sobre una persona o unas personas.

Quin est a la puerta? Tom est a la puerta.
Who wants an apple? I want an apple.
Quin quiere una manzana? Yo quiero un manzana.
Whom* is he dating? He is dating Anna.
(Who is he dating?) Est saliendo con Anna.

*La diferencia entre who y whom casi no existe ya. De todos modos,
gramaticalmente who se usa para el sujeto mientras whom se usa para el
complemento del objeto directo o indirecto. La mayora de los anglfonos americanos

En el ingls americano informal, frecuentemente se usa How come en lugar de Why.
